  1. As always the eye for an eye responses that show the intelligence of many posters here. Many people somehow still believe that we will rid the world of all evil by being evil ourselves. How can that work? We've tried this medieval policy for 100's, if not 1000's of years and there are still many evil forces at work. Maybe it's time for a new approach.

    Rest in Peace Prajak

I have yet to see any of those who have been executed come back and commit another crime, whereas the same cannot be said of those who are incarcerated for a period of time, including up to life in prison. Your argument doesn't hold water.

I'm not sure you understood what I said smacks41. Perhaps you are one of those people I was talking about? So deeply programmed and indoctrinated into believing that we should hand out harsh punishment for crimes that we otherwise condemn.

The Netherlands is a good example. Punishment for many crimes is very lenient there and somehow they have very little crime. If we are to believe you the Netherlands should be a dangerous cesspool of crime and corruption but it's actually the opposite. Unlike the US where they still maintain the eye for an eye policy and crime is soaring. I believe 2.5 million people are incarcerated in the god blessed States.

And how many people live there? And how many people live in the Netherlands? And are you saying that the Netherlands reputation for football hooligans is unjustified?

Prisoners per 100.000 population: USA - 707, Netherlands - 82 (Thailand - 435) Dutch hooligans are pussy boys compared to their English or Italian counterparts wink.png

  3. Not all r real monks.

Monk in Japan, monks in Japan can have girlfriends.

    And wives... blink.png

Maybe that's one of the reasons there is not as much child abuse in Japan as for example here and in the Roman Catholic world where clerics have to vow to a life of celibacy. Human beings are not supposed to be celibate. We are animals with reproducing organs!! And where does it say that monks/clerics can only reach higher spirituality through celibacy? It's a load of c-rap. I only have to look at my native country to see the truth of the whole matter. Priests abusing young boys for centuries already. Maybe David Icke is right and the pedophiles know how to tap into the energy fields of kids when they fill them with fear through raping them. When kids are not safe anymore in this world it's really time to sit down and rethink this whole mess that we call society and hopefully people will wake up and redesign it

  4. It is not about damaged property . It is also not about religion. It is about respects of Thai culture. Do you know what Thais consider of the feet ?

As I said, irrational, culture, superstition, religion, ..... "consider ot the feet" ? yea, can make good money performing foot massage. It is up to the tourism people to inform visitors of any special cultural fetishes.

Would you mind providing your "expert credentials" so that the reader may know what qualifies you as an expert on cultures. In other words, what qualifies you to make these denigrating comments in which you paint something which is a "sacrilege" to the Thai as being a "fetish"? I am a simple person with no fixed religious affiliations, but I do believe in conducting myself with respect to the culture/religions of whatever country in which I live! Kicking the "sacred prayer bell" obviously doesn't bother you, but that does not make it "irrational culture, superstition, religion". The fact is....displaying the bottom of one's foot to another or, as in this case, applying the foot to a sacred object, is blatant disrespect....not only to the Thai but for most, if not all, people of Asian background...INCLUDING the Chinese!! http://traditions.cultural-china.com/en/14Traditions5519.html AND I'll wager that this guy would not leave his chopsticks sticking upright in his leftover bowl of rice back in his home country!!

daoyai is absolutely right and if you can't see that or either continue to ignore the double standard written all over this ridiculous story then it's time for you to enroll in the temple yourself mate for a bit of soul searching because all you are doing now is acting as a one way street apologist. Doesn't a bell ring up there when stories like this get so much attention while murders, rapes, grand theft and extortion hardly get any coverage? Time to wake up Tingtau. One doesn't need to have a PhD to detect double standard, anyone with common sense knows this

  5. Unbelievable, the picture shows a divided highway with two lanes and a wide shoulder going in each direction. How could this happen?

    5 years - 250.000 kilomet -

He never heared propably before about Thailand, otherwise he would never have entered Thailand ,

and for sure not with a bicycle !!

Where People drive like monkeys !!

No, sorry, not like monkey, a monkey have brain !!

    RIP dear poor man;

your family will get 1.000,- THB compensation

And the driver will go to temple to thanks Buddha that nothing happened to him !!

In case you didn't know - nearly all Thais have an unshakable belief in Karma, as do half the world's population. If you don't know what it is check this link. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=karma

Once you understand this, you might understand why Thailand has a different culture than yours. Not better nor worse but different.

Someone is killed - they believe this is neither good nor bad but just the way it is.

BS. I think you are confused with India. The rule of karma has had almost no influence on Thai Buddhism at all. This post has apologetic written all over it

  6. ...veered off....into a bicycle pulling a carriage.....with a sign attached at the side.....

...how is it even remotely possible that he did not see them.....

    ...which raises another question.......

How can young healthy awake people walking on sidewalks simply change their path and walk into others ?

If you can answer this question you deserve a nobel prize

    In one word .... SMARTPHONE

In three words ..... SMARTPHONE and LINE APP

Nah, it was already like that before the smartphones. I actually observed it in Ikea today. I said to my wife; why do Thais always swagger all over the path without caring about other people who need to pass? They simply don't care or are unaware, it's not their family member. In a society where one only cares about other family members there will never be awareness about others. Society here is built on only caring about your own! You can see it in every layer of society and in my opinion is probably the biggest problem in this country. The endless greed is founded in it too. Create a caring society and about 90% of all problems will be solved, incl. driving like bats out of hell.

    RIP dear traveler

  7. Well, he is certainly big enough. The 2 cops look tiny but they are big enough.

The angle of the camera can make height deceptive.. just watch any Tom Criuse movie to see what I mean.

I'm not saying he's not that tall, I am saying its hard to judge in this photo.

You're right. It's just the angle that makes him seem like a giant http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/content/dam/images/1/3/b/t/a/6/image.related.articleLeadwide.620x349.13cvc6.png/1423719611805.jpg

  8. In general anyone that belongs to a gang is a p-ussie. You don't see too many guys riding alone, starting fights, raping and pillaging. It's always in groups. Most of them are insecure and not very bright, following the alpha male. It's a pity they only care about their own personal gain and don't put their power into bettering the world. Oh yeah, a few of them went over to Syria, to fight IS, hahahaha. It's all too funny before the morning coffee

  9. the moral of the story is that thais do things differently by nature than westerners. I was on a beach in kpy once and some drug addict drowned. westerners were trying to give him mouth to mouth. whilst the thais hang the drowning victim upside down and shake them.........he died regardless. kpy is for druggies. now if I was overdosing on drugs then kpy is the place to go for treatment

Koh Pha Ngan you mean or Koh Phan Yang?

  10. Straight out murder then by a couple of numbskulls.

Who walks into a bar ( forang ) tooled up with a pistol

If you ask me this Turk was a menace and probably played with fire and got burnt

I am sorry but more to this story than what is written and it ain't murder

If someone specially a foreigner was to come into my place of business and start trouble and i could see he was tooled up then should I let him bully and intimidate me in my own bar ( if I was thai ) in my own country

Some people just read a comment without a clue

    People

Don't just shoot people out in the open without some sort of argument

I reckon if he wasn't carrying a gun he would will be here today

What about calling the cops mate? Hey listen, there is a Turk coming in here every night intimidating us with a gun. I'm pretty sure the RTP will be happy to arrest him and throw him in jail and then deport

  11. Samui is no different than Koh Tao, only in size. If somebody wanted the Turk dead then they can easily make that happen like this. No witnesses, monkeyman shot in self defense, RTP turn a blind eye, blah blah blah. Those 3 islands down south are true paradise. Thinking of buying a condo on Chaweng very soon

  12. Hahaha, sorry guys but this is not news. This happens I don't know how many times a day in TH. I guess the Thai female married to the Orangeman got them fined in the end with her never ending nagging voice and camera in the cops faces. It's funny how the Dutch guy says to her; get his rank and name; sorry mate, but this TH, not NL. And to be quite honest; what is the difference with NL where the cops have cameras everywhere flashing when you drive 3 km's too fast or haul your car away when you didn't empty enough euros into the parking machine. All the complaining here about getting ripped off for 14-15 euros, in NL the fine for carrying a knife is more like 200 euro. Move along now

  13. Who cares what the US Gov thinks and wants. As if they are a good example to the world. What a cheek they have to dictate their idea's to foreign countries. While they are supporting the radical coup leader Poroshenko over in Ukraine, who unconstitutionally removed President Yanukovich, supplying him with weapons and stirring up the war brew, they have the arrogance to say that Thailand's bloodless coup was undemocratic. Please Mr Prayuth, ignore these idiots completely. They carry no weight whatsoever in this discussion. If indeed the US was a great nation that thrived on freedom of speech and liberty for all mankind it would be useful to give them some microphone time but as the world is waking up and realizing that the only thing the US actually does is always only and I emphasize on the word ONLY, speak, act, spin in it's own self interest.

Sorry Dave, you are incorrect. We are great because we believe in freedom and democracy. We have choices. We have constitution which we believe in strongly. We believe in the rule of law and not coups to satisfy a whim of the military.

We are a great county and world leader well, because of all that.

Hate from afar doesnt change facts same as the 8th Thailand coup will never bring the country out of archaic principles.

You dont like what the US has to say, thats ok. But it wont change the way of the world.

I'm sorry to be the one bringing you this sad news but your great constitution my friend was left behind a long time ago. Watch the Untold History of the United States by your great war hero Oliver Stone. Perhaps that will help you see things in a different light.

  14. After you learn how to operate a computer and what i said has relevance.. you just dont like it.

The US just supports whoever they think is beneficial and they don't care one bit about legitimacy.

Support of Suriname. Support of Egypt.. I think we can go on with some dictators helped into power by the US.

Them enforcing a party only means they will get more benefits from it then they could get from the rival party. Its based on business and pragmatism.. not on right and wrong.

You are not being honest. The US support of Suriname was so strong that it did not hesitate in arresting the son of its President and charging him with supporting a foreign terrorist organization. That was a real show of support for the President wasn't it?

The US is not "supporting" Egypt but is working with what's there. What would you like the USA to have done? Invaded Egypt and reinstated Morsi, a man that brought the country to the brink of civil war? The USA has crippled the Egyptian military with its refusal to release aid monies. If it does any more, Egypt will suffer another massive uprising and tens of thousands will die. Do you want another out of control country in the middle east, this time with a large well armed military? How will that benefit world peace?

It's all very well and nice to criticize the USA, but I don't see too many countries with the assets trying to keep the world at peace. Russia's doing a bang up job in the Ukraine isn't it. Before that it had its adventure in Georgia and Azerbaijan. China isn't making friends in its region now as it engages in an expansionist territory grab from its smaller neighbors. Several South American nations came close to all out hostilities in the past decade, Pakistan and India are at each other's throats, the Africans are busy killing each other in sectarian conflict, Iran is occupying UAE territory etc. etc. Please tell me which country has made an effort to keep the world from descending into madness. Sure, criticize the USA, but no one else is really doing anything, much like the response to the Ebola crisis. Russia and China and all the 3rd world big mouths at the UN did sweet FA to help. A large part of the funding and resources came from the USA. Did you see Mahidol's medical faculty offering any assistance?

    Where was Thailand's health ministry?

    So well put!

Wonder what the world would be like if China or Russia was the world "peace keeper" or leader? Or for that matter, any of the TV anti US brigade's own home country's?? Everybody is quick to bash the US leadership in promoting democracy and peace but, NOBODY is recommending alternative solutions.

Alternative solution could be; 1. Stop meddling in independent countries policies 2. Stop invading independent countries 3. Stop policing the world for your own benefit and greed 4. Dismantle the illusionary UN 5. Treat other cultures and nations with respect

Already these simple 5 points would make the world a much better place than it is today

  16. I think this is just today's news so Prayut can get his mug shot around.

It will probably go nowhere and tomorrow it will be some other crazy notion and again... another mug shot in the news.

    Can anyone say megalomania?

Nah, he obviously doesn't like the attention at all. That's just pure trolling based on the assumption that all leaders are ego-maniacs. I'd say that many of our Western 'leaders' are megalomaniacs though; Obomba, Cam, Merkie...just to name a few. It actually makes them orgasm to see themselves on the screen everyday biggrin.png

  17. I feel that the time has come to keep the travel luggage at hand.

If you feel like that, nobody is here to stop you.

I'm staying here and I fully trust that this government will change Thailand for the better.

I applaud your optimism, but 19 coups later we still seem to be in a 'back to the future' loop.

In point of fact, what military coup has ever improved things? Egypt, Haiti, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria...and dare I mention it Greece?

Not to forget the military/industrial complex coup of the USA in 1945

  18. I'm reading about the same amount of American arrogance as Thai arrogance in this thread.

It's not arrogance if you can back it up. Smile for the drone.

Lol, sounds like a threat! Whatever you do don't criticize US world dominance policy or else they will be coming for you with their unmanned flying killing machines or send in a few retired Jarheads to sort you out, plenty of them here these days. To be honest I and many others here and abroad would be happy to see some countries standing up to the bully, just not sure if the general is the person to do this, but good on him. China almost owns the US so it doesn't really make a difference who they decide to be closer to. China might just stop lending $$ to the bankrupt American economy sometime soon, but hey, then the Fed Reserve can print another $ trillion of illusionary money, like they've been doing for the last 5-10 years anyway. My advice to all Americans here; be friendly to the Thai people because they are probably one of the last peoples on this earth that kind of still look up to you guys.
