  1. Another thing that at annoy me is that there are no street lamps along a Soi in Hua Hin that leads to rather large Thai as well as expat communities. Apart from the viscous Soi dogs, it is pitch black, so not conducive to walking to a local restaurant at night.

    Don't walk..

    Or

    Buy a flashlight..

    For sure, don't run...

    Some dogs will attack..

Just stand still -- with a flashlight pointing at it..

I would recommend a 10,000 volt cattle prod ....and use it on the mangy soi dogs even if they are not harassing you.....just to let them know who is the Alpha male.

    Cheers

55555! This must be the funniest thread on the forum all day. You made my night a bit better after just listening to the f-ers bark relentlessly for 2 hours just now and me telling myself that I am really going to buy a BB gun this time.

    Cheers

  2. I like to walk a lot especially in the early evenings. I quickly found out that there are a lot of dogs attempting to attack me, once bailing me against a fence, but no owner ever appeared to call the dogs off, i just had to do my best to escape. So i started carrying a very stout bamboo rod with one end sharpened. The dogs soon learned to leave me alone until one actually attacked me and i stabbed it with my bamboo rod and it took off howling. Within an hour i had an owner at my door demanding money, which i never paid. This is the answer one can expect from an owner of a savage dog. Farang = Money. These same dogs still worry motorcyclists and strangers, most worryingly those pushing children in pushchairs. The dog which i stabbed is still there, but he and his mates keep about 10 ft from me now. They are real smart.

You have the correct attitude but you should have killed the dog.

I was once bitten by a stray in our old soi and when I cornered the nasty canine and was beating it(with the plan to euthanize it) the neighbours grouped up on me and forced me to stop beating it. After that I was known as the cruel farang who didn't like dogs, can you imagine? 555!! I actually like dogs that are sweet and cute but the unreliable and useless ones that only exist to eat the leftovers of motocy taxi drivers and who foul the soi's and keep everyone up many nights should be euthanized. Maybe I'm not a dog lover after all wink.png

Stray dogs are a huge problem in SE Asia, not so much in Northern and Western Asia(they make for a tasty meal there). It's very difficult to fathom why SE Asians don't deal with their dog problem that's been around for decades if not longer. What's wrong with selling them off to Laos? No difference than importing chickens from HK

  3. I am not a follower of the capital punishment, death sentence.

If really deserved, it's an easy way to get out.

If not, it's another life wasted.

But in this case, I would use his body to save other lives.

Cut out the healthy organs and body parts 1 by 1 until there is nothing left anymore.

Give the organs to children who are dying on the wait list for transplantation.

The rest of his body can be used as food for inmates like him.

You should change your name to Confusedious because what you just suggested is the most confused idea I've read here in quite a while!

Let me rephrase; cut the man's organs out, one by one, while he is still alive and then chop his remaining body parts up for an inmate soup......ummmm.

Perhaps we are dealing with a new Jeffrey Dahlmer here on TV.

The hang em high brigade are getting crazier and crazier here. No wonder the world is such a messed up place

  4. It's all a matter of stinginess and adults who should be responsible having kiddie brains that never see danger. If they would've spent a few baht on smoke detectors, a few fire extinguishers and proper emergency exits probably nobody would be dead. Instead the boss pocketed the money and bought himself a new flat screen and air-con. Scum

    RIP kids

Now I am 100% certain that you can back up and prove what you have just said.

Not only that but you will post the proof here on Thai Visa, as many social websites as you can find and also report the corruption to the police and all the relevant agencies.

Of course if you don't actually have any proof and the boss of the school finds out then you may be in for a whole world of trouble. Incidentally so would Thai Visa for posting it.

    Try looking up libel online.

Doesn't scare me. Let them sue me, 555! It's called common sense and intelligence. Troll someone else apologist

I notice that you have not denied it.

Then I hope that they do sue you.

Do you have any proof of what you say at all?

If not then you are quite simply telling lies.

No I am not an apologist, just someone who cannot abide bare faced liars.

How can you stand neglecter's who are responsible for 18 peoples lives? That's the most important question here. I didn't do anything wrong besides mesmerizing, analysing and guessing. Hardly a crime on TVF is it? That's why we come to the forum. To give our 2 cents on different matters. I saw at least 10 other posts that were much more incriminating than mine but still you didn't say anything to them, strange. If we were all journalists who needed facts backed up by one or two credible sources we'd be working at Newsweek or Time, wouldn't we, 555

  6. In April, 2015 I woke up in the middle of the night coughing blood. Went to the emergency room - a large tumor in my right lung had started hemorrhaging. A surgical team was assembled and in a 6 hour operation removed 1/2 of the lung and 21 lymph nodes in the surrounding area. That saved me from certain death by drowning in my own blood. Diagnosis - stage IV adenocarcinoma that had spread to the liver. After recovering from the surgery, I had 4 cycles of platinum-doublet chemotherapy. Scans showed no presence of cancer in my lungs or chest and no additional spread to other organs, so I started maintenance chemotherapy.

After one year and 19 chemotherapy treatments, the tumors in my liver have completely disappeared. I have experienced virtually no side effects from the chemotherapy other than periods of fatigue after treatment and am able to work and lead a normal life. The latest scans show only one small nodule on my right adrenal gland that may be cancerous. If it starts to grow, it will be treated by non-invasive stereotaxic radiosurgery.

I owe my life to a skilled surgeon and a brilliant oncologist. I urge anyone who has cancer to seek medical advice - Thailand has internationally recognized experts in both curative and palliative treatment. Feel free to PM me if you want information about treatment in Thailand.

Are you sure you are a cancer survivor or somehow involved in Big Pharma/Medicine? Perhaps an oncologist? Your story sounds manufactured by a professional writer, no kidding. Very convincing story.

Of course there are people who survive cancer through very skilled surgeons and oncologists. I don't doubt that at all but please don't forget to mention how many people are just kept alive to keep them buying drugs that will never cure them. It would be good to see realistic figures on that. How many people die of cancer every year that have been on chemo therapy for years? It's millions. It's a cure for a small amount of people and I'm pretty sure that it all comes down to big money in the end.

There are other methods that work better and actually cure. I had a good friend who died last June after a long fight with cancer. She was diagnosed in 2001 with breast cancer and treated 'successfully'. Year after year during her check ups she was diagnosed cancer free until in 2010, when she went for her yearly check up her doctor told her that the cancer had spread throughout her body and nothing could be done anymore to save her but......here comes the good part; the doctor did recommend her to start on chemo asap though because that could perhaps add a few more 'meaningful' months to her life. That time she did the opposite and decided to do absolutely nothing, just one thing; she changed her diet and became a real health freak. No more meat, sugar, processed BS, etc, etc. She became a raw vegan who lived on smoothies, nuts, veggies and fruits and lived another 5 meaningful years while her doctor only gave her several months.

In the end we are all different physically, our digestive systems, how our metabolisms work, etc. What works good for someone may not work good for someone else. To recommend chemo to cancer sufferers because it worked for you is a bit opportunistic to be honest. It would be much better to remain objective and recommend a change of lifestyle and diet because that can't harm anyone, only show benefits.

  7. Not going to happen. There are several herbal cures for cancer already but pharmaceutical companies block the production of these herbal cures because they would lose billions a year on profits they are making with their non-working chemo therapies that actually make you more sick. It's all a big scam. Google it if you are unaware

What cancers and where is the clinical, peer reviewed evidence?

And go easy on the scaremongering tactics of snake oil medicine practitioners and conspiracy theories! There would be many companies only too happy to shove it up the nose of big pharma if they had the cure and they could make the money themselves!

Is that the only defence you have? Immediately calling my statement a conspiracy theory. That's exactly how big pharma tries to fight all alternative medicine, through scaremongering tactics and their so called expertise. Through in a few guys in white jackets to make it all seem really clever and scientific. Doesn't work anymore. Most people can see through it and thank goodness we have the internet to free our minds with the truth. I know a few people who have cured cancer, arthritis, diabetes and haemophilia with cannabis oil. Do the research yourself. There are lots of studies, videos and blogs on these stories or does it only carry weight when big pharma has done clinical studies?? LOL!

Why do companies not get these alternative cures(rather than medicine that doesn't cure) off the ground? Because the FDA blocks them, that's why! How can a one time cure ever make more money than years of chemo-therapy and other useless pills they have doctors pushing for them? I always ask myself why certain people like yourself defend big pharma so relentlessly. Big pharma has never been in the business of curing people but rather keeping them nice and sick in order to keep them buying their useless medicine.

  8. Nice achievement but definitely not an impressive feat anymore! Almost anyone with enough cash(US$ 60k), guts, good health and physical fitness can 'climb' Mt Everest these days. As someone mentioned already; Sherpa's 'carry' you to the summit. The Malory and Hillary days are long gone. The whole route is laid out and roped for easy access. The most dangerous part are avalanches and bad weather. I'd love to do it one day all the same, but it's too expensive. I hiked it from Lukla to Everest Base Camp back in 2002 with a good Dutch friend. To us that was almost the same

  9. @Thaibeachlover

"While I appreciate your point of view, I disagree that any of them "had" to be bargirls. Easily proven by the fact that there are MILLIONS of women in Thailand, many of whom are in the same "poverty", but choose NOT to become bar girls. Bar girls are a small minority of poor women in Thailand. They do it because it's easy money, and a party lifestyle. Most work at menial jobs, for little money.

I have known hundreds ( not in a relationship, but in the bars at which I was a regular ) that were DDG and could easily have found themselves a sugar daddy or a farang "boyfriend" and left the scene, but chose to stay and mint it while they were good looking enough. Few would be expecting to do it for more than a few years".

If you look again you will see that I already put had in quotation marks. Of course nobody needs to take up that profession but many are forced into it. Just like the girl that I was with for a few months. Her gambling and drinking mother and useless boyfriend forced her and her sister into it because they had made 100's of k's of debt. A job at 7/11 would never cover that kind of debt. This is a very common case in Isaan. Some even give their daughters as a deposit to moneylenders. These girls are so loyal to their scamming and loveless family members that they would indeed do anything to take care of them. I know it sounds mad but don't forget that TiT.
I also mentioned the girls who like doing it because it's easy money. There are rotten apples everywhere

  10. A BILLIONAIRE in Thailand but yet no water for farmers but yet let's party. I'LL stop to much to get sick over.

    I don't see the connection.

He is a businessman, not a <deleted> miracle worker.

There is not enough water because the infrastructure is missing, though some individuals have so much money because other elitists/the government gave them concessions/the Power, to extort money out of people to such an extend that they can even buy a foreign 4th league football team. Gyrosman's comment makes perfect sense when you analyse it a bit deeper and I totally agree with him.

4th league team - has a Thai billionaire bought Forest or Leeds now then?

Was just kidding of course. Haven't got a clue whose winning/losing these days. Gave up the whole footy thing years ago. It's just another distraction to keep us busy and away from the truth

  11. Half the country is on prozac and the other half on the p1ss.

U are sooooo wrong !!! 1/4th on prozac, 1/4th on boose and 1 /4th on BOTH. the other 1/4th is living on rice and fermented fish sauce and has the brain of a bird coffee1.gif

(just kiddin', i'm sure there's 1/4th who's doing just fine and dandy but i keep those objective compliments for other sites than TVF)

    tongue.png

Hang on there for a minute. What many people seem to ignore is the fact that Thais are always supposed to remain calm no matter what. Imagine what effect this has on the brain. Research has shown that If you have to hide all your emotions all your life it will have a very damaging effect on the brain/self esteem. I guess this is also the reason why they explode if they become really angry. Think about it. Can you imagine never getting angry, upset, sad? It must be horrible. Perhaps this is also the reason why they let of steam in groups, good examples being the recent attacks in Hua Hin and the coppers sons who chopped the disabled guy to death. Throw in the constant noise of barking dogs that keep whole streets up many a nights, trucks with huge soundsystems driving through the soi all day, the yabba guys who play Isaan techno all day long and lots of other noise pollution that would drive any sane person over the edge. Don't forget the heat, the corruption, the toxicity of the food being cooked in aluminium pots and pans, the neighbours who burn their plastic every night, the amounts of sugar consumed, booze, drugs, bs on tv, unaware driving.....I have to stop there, the list is endless. It's actually quite a hard job being Thai and I have to say that I am really surprised that the amount of madness is not much higher than it is. To be able to live with so much bs Thai people have to be very tough. Not to forget the crazy farangs who actually live here voluntarily. Anyone who survives all of this without losing his marbles or his life is either a genius or a very lucky person and when you have survived it and look back at it all in years to come you will burst out laughing. It's time for some peacefulness again

  13. Does anybody know where they are playing football in Thailand, I heard they are touring but I do not know where

They are not playing here, just a tour. Not seen any details, but I imagine it will start at Nana, onto Cowboy, ending up at Patpong ! smile.png

Seriously? You really think that the winners of the PL will be touring the riff raff bars and gogo's? LOL. There are so many top class places in BKK with gorgeous women who are real women and who have style. Who with a bit of money would even go near those places? I definitely wouldn't

    Seriously ?

Did you think I was being serious ?

Nah, just a wind up over a wind up. Hey, and no cheering for those Leicester City boyo's wink.png

  15. Increased prices for Duty Free on the way wink.png

King Power has indeed the most expensive duty free compared to actual prices anywhere. Fragrances have the same prices as in shopping malls. Checked it on Saturday while flying out. Wanted to buy a bottle of aftershave last week in Robinsons but the missus said wait until we fly on Saturday. I didn't invest any cash in Leicester City, 555

  16. More and more the mindset here seems to be: I have a problem- I’ll need a gun to solve it!

Am I the only one assuming there are correlations between the extreme high numbers of trigger happy Thais, and the way they were brought up, influenced by soaps promoting violence, and questionable events like this?

    thai%20education_zpsvhecjjwx.jpg

Check out the toy shops in any shopping mall; 80% of toys are related to violence, e.g. guns, swords, knives, rifles, action heroes. 'Smart toys or educational toys' take about 10% of shelf space. It is indeed a society of little thinking. Why you so serious my wife just said, 555, buy him a gun. He's only 4!!

  17. The article seems primarily to be aimed at creating an image of the Arabs in Thailand - although it does give a nod to other aspects of prostitution , just to cover arse...as t were.

Truth remains that Thailand is a county that relies on prostitution for a substantial part of it's economy, both as a part of the tourist trade and as a larger part catering to the home market.

It seems that a country that sees of the exploitation of women as an integral part of its economy will continue to do so so long as those in power refuse to accept that their own use of women in this way is unacceptable. so long as leaders view women as "wrapped candy" I can't see a fundamental change happening soon

"It seems that a country that sees of the exploitation of women as an integral part of its economy will continue to do so so long as those in power refuse to accept that their own use of women in this way is unacceptable. so long as leaders view women as "wrapped candy" I can't see a fundamental change happening soon"

Seems like a little middle class moralising going on here (sex can't be recreational, sex can't be part of a business transaction, etc.). What leads you assume that a sex industry is synonymous with the exploitation of women? Certainly, there are women in the industry who are exploited and abused, and everything possible must be done to combat this. But some women have no qualms about 'selling sex' and some men have no qualms about purchasing it, and where such consent exists, we shouldn't patronisingly suggest that the activity is exploitative. A woman using her body to make money is nor more exploitative than an athlete, male model, or coal miner using his. People like yourself believe that you'd be doing women a favour by shutting down the sex industry (does sound patronising, right?), but I don't think you'd find much support among the women themselves ... and I doubt that many would consider themselves 'exploited'. [Of course, the retort would be that they need to be 'educated' or have their 'consciousness raised' .... more than a little insulting].

After reading your philosophical attempt to justify the male exploitation of prostitutes I wanted to give my 2 cents on this topic. It seems that you tried your uttermost best to defend the usage of the oldest profession in the world. Good job in doing so btw but I think you were looking at it in a western way and through the eyes of a prostitute back home who decided to make some money on the side to buy a new car for example.I think it works a bit differently here. Most women here are forced into prostitution out of poverty or not having any other opportunity to make enough money to take care of her family. Of course there are plenty of girls who just want a new iPhone 6 or a nice condo but most are there out of desperation and not free will.

Your comparison between lying down to let some stranger take advantage of your body and a coal miner using his body power to make money is hilarious btw! 555

You've actually got it the wrong way around, my friend. I was not looking at it through the eyes of a 'prostitute back home' as my only exposure to them comes via the media... I have no idea of their motives or thinking. However, during my 16 years in Asia, I've met and become good friends with a number of women who work in the broader 'sex industry' (there's probably more sensitive language I could use, but I don't know what that is). These are girls who work in massage shops or pubs, for instance ... and it's probably beyond your imagination, but some girls just do the occasional 'gig' on the side when out at a bar for music with friends. The vast majority of the girls I've talked to enjoy life and don't consider their work demeaning or exploitative. It's not a career (for most of them) or something that defines them; rather it is a lucrative form of work that they plan on doing for a few years to make enough money to buy a house/land etc. Several of them have ended up with long term partners and have gone on to what you might consider more 'normal' lives. [i think you may be the one coming from the western perspective, where prostitution is more often a 'career' (I think) rather than something one does for a period of time or occasionally).

But perhaps this is not convincing to you... you will believe that I'm making this up... or that my sample is skewed. So let me do some math for you.

Where I spend a lot of time, in Singapore, a maid works 12 hour days, six days a week (some work every day). For that they are paid S$500-$600 a month. Now, if she's attractive enough, that girl could come to Singapore on a 30 day tourist pass and look for customers at a bar. With a single customer, she can make S$200-300. She chooses what customers to go back with. So, with most of her time spent sitting in a bar hanging out with friends, she can make more in one month than what the maid makes in a year. The actual figures would be different in Thailand, of course, but the mathematical principles would be the same. Sex work can be a rational and reasonable option for those who have suitable attributes (appearance, mindset, etc.). Why assume that a woman is unable to (or should not be allowed) to freely make such a choice?

And you believe these 'good friends' from the sex industry? facepalm.gif Nothing is beyond my imagination, my friend. I am here a few years longer and was not always a married family man. Back in the day when I used to frequent the bars and gogo's I had a few 'good friends' there too who could speak quite good English and we'd talk about Cowboy and the girls and themselves and their lives, etc, etc. I did meet a few girls as you described that didn't mind the job and even a few that said they really enjoyed it but mostly they were girls who really didn't like what they were doing but they 'had' to do it to take care of their families. The only way to really find out what the exact figures are is to hold a survey under the girls. Let me ask my wife if she doesn't mind, lol. I actually lived with a hardcore chick from Long Gun (Soi Cowboy) back in 2006. She gave up the hard water, a few rich sugar daddies who were sending her a staggering 80k/month, and all that money she was making in the bar, just for me. For 2 months altogether. She really was too hardcore and eventually she did a runner to Pattaya or Phuket. Never saw her again. Some girls do indeed have a very easy life and make a lot of money with something that doesn't bother them morally and some even enjoy it, but don't forget about the girls that really hate it. There are a lot of them too
