  1. im Canadian on a triple entry tourist visa

my visa got cut by 9 weeks, so I have till Aug 8th :o

how do I get a non immigrant O visa < sorry im sure this has been discussed before in depth here but am stressed and sometimes it's different for different countries or origin ?

I was also wondering if I can go to Bangkok and do both non imm O and marriage visa in one week<< if so what steps are needed.

ive got conflicting info before: some saying I need proof gf and I lived together and a picture of us at house ?

I'm prob best off just getting non imm O visa 1st and getting thai bank account and depositing 400 000 B and taking my time with the marriage visa upgrade ?

thank you for any help :)

  2. ok need help on this as I am time crunched with my tourist visa getting 9 weeks knocked off it

how do I get a non immigrant O visa < im assuming I need this before getting married esp when marriage visa requirement you need 400 000 B in your own thai bank account which I cant open with tourist visa

is it possible to go to Bangkok and get both done (non imm O and marriage visa )

within a week or should I just get non imm O visa first

    thank you smile.png

    Im Canadian

  3. Must meet the financial requirement

Security deposit of THB 400,000 in a Thai Bank Account for at least 2 months prior to the visa application.

Monthly income of at least THB 40,000. A letter from the foreigner embassy has to be shown to verify this income.

Combination of the Thai bank account and yearly income with the total of 400,000 THB.

Marriage requirements above , do I have to meet all 3 ? my income from Canada is only 20 000 THB

I have enough to make security deposit

I got screwed on my triple entry tourist visa, would of lasted until Oct 16th with 30 day extension, but when at the Malaysian border last week they stamped it 30 days < Aug 8th sad.png

I Don't want to go back to Canada, I'm 45 and was going to do the education visa soon to learn Thai ( which I need to look into still ) then work visa, then retirement.............I have a Thai girlfriend whom I live with and basically support but marriage was not in my radar until all this border crap

PS she also has 17 and 24 year old sons.......maybe that will help if I need to adopt to stay

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

this is so unfair, im not working illegally, I have income coming from Canada and money in the bank and am supporting a Thai national

any advice on education visa to learn Thai would be helpful too; problem is im in Khanom which is a small town so doesn't have a school to learn Thai, but guess I can do online É

    Thank you

  4. Hi, I have a triple entry tourist visa so I'm good for another 5 months or so

My question is regarding student visas

Do I have to live near a city or can I learn Thai online during student visa ?

How soon do I have to apply for student visa prior to tourist visa expiring ?

Also same question with regards to applying to a school course to learn Thai ?

Obviously I'm clueless so far :o

  5. Hello still can't for the life of me find sage or a nice size white candle, can't find green at allll lol , help ... Guess it doesn't help not knowing Thai, but brought my Thai friend to JJ Market and they didn't have and sent us somewhere with incense but no sage lol

  6. Its a restricted activity/job same as massage and THAI only can practice it.

If you did it it would be illegal and you certainly would not get a work permit for it.

The purpose of this thread was not to Argue over Reiki's merit or lack of as most commenters opinions obviously show.

Thank you, in between all the arguing I found what I was originally asking and that is that Thai people lean towards western medicine.

I had another question that the above quote brings to mind. What if a foreigner is married to a Thai, would it still be considered a restricted activity/job ?

    Thank you

  7. Thank you CharlieH for bringing this to my attention, I will look into this more

Thank you arjunadawn, for all the information and wisdom :) the fact that Thai people ( sorry Thai natives was all I could think of to make title short. ) prefer western medicine reminds me of how they try to lighten their skin while Caucasians are always working on darkening theirs.

I will most likely private message you sometime :)

I don't care what quack watch has to say, I would take a Reiki session over a 1 hour professional massage any day <3

  8. Do Thai natives know about and go to Reiki practitioners ?

Seems like stupid question but I don't know Thai well and the Thai peep I have talked to were unfamiliar with it, even though Reiki was founded in Asia.

Also I know Reiki has no religious affiliations but wondering if Buddhists would not be interested< don't know much about that religion

    Thank you in advance :)

  9. Hi looking for a town or city south of Chaing Mai that has lots of nature and hopefully natural clean swimming: river, waterfalls , etc

My friends family lives in Lampang and son lives in Chaing Mai, so somewhere inbetween or close to Lampang would be :)

We were thinking Lamphun but have no idea if has clean water to swim

    Thank you in advance :)

  10. If you come without a visa, you need to have a ticket exiting Thailand with 30 days of your departure. The Airline that you are using might not let you board the flight without one. With a "visa exempt" entry you get 30 days permission to stay which can only be extended for 7 days, cost 1900 baht. If you stay longer you will have to do border runs or go to a neighboring country and get a tourist visa'

Your best option is to get a tourist visa before you leave, They are issued with either 1, 2, or 3 entries and cost $40 per entry. On each entry you will get 60 days permission to stay which can be extended for 30 days, cost 1900 baht. With a triple entry tourist visa, if used correctly, you can get almost 270 days with 2 border runs and 3 extensions. With a visa, a return ticket is not required by the airline, but it might be required by the Embassy/Consulate that issues your visa. You should check directly with them via phone.email to determine exactly what they require before you apply.

thank you very much wayned :) I will go this route......thank you for all the information :)

  11. Entering by visa exemption gets thirty days which can be extended by seven days at a cost of 19oo Baht.

Your other choices revolve around tourist visas and / or ED visas

Planning to not return home requires a lot of thought as to how you might achieve that aim .

Have a look at the Canadian Thai Embassy web site

    http://www.thaiembassy.ca/en

    Then consider your options

thank you so much Sceptict :)

can a person upgrade from visa exemption to ED or work Visa once settled ?

  12. Im confused on below, whether "30 DAYS UNDER THE “VISA EXEMPTION RULE" can be extended, my questions are below

Thailand Visa is not required for Canadian citizens who wish to come to Thailand.

Canadian citizens can stay up to 30 DAYS UNDER THE “VISA EXEMPTION RULE” if entering via international airport and entering through a land border checkpoint from a neighboring country. Travelers must be in possession of a confirmed travel itinerary and proof of funds.

Canadian citizens who wish to visit Thailand for more than 30 days can apply for a Thailand visa depending on the purpose of visit.

TOURIST VISA- This visa is issued to applicants who wish to visit Thailand for tourism purposes. It is valid for 3 to 6 months and permission to stay up to 60 days per entry. It can be extended for another 30 days at the immigration office in Thailand.

Hi, I plan on coming to Thailand in January and if I like it don't plan on coming back.....I am Canadian.

I have friends in Thailand whom can get me a job but initially I plan on visiting holistic temple etc.

    My questions:

    1) can the I apply for the Tourist Visa ( or can I only get the 30 day visa exemption )upon arrival or do I have to beforehand ?

    2) The visa exemption rule, can that be extended or changed to a work or school visa prior to expiring ?

thank you so much, and tips and advice would be greatly appreciated :)
