  1. crackdown this, crackdown that,

    hub this, hub that,

next get rid of them scum tailors in Bkk and get rid of them tricksters outside the grand palace who say its closed and bring the tourists to scum tailors and cheap yes very cheap gem places.

And get rid of all them gem scams.

we know that won't happen because too much wonderful money to be had for the lovely owners of the gem retail outlets. May they have good luck and prosperous lives. lucky number 9. Everything is wonderful, veeeweey guuuddd valyou.

  2. I hear there is equipment used by theaters that scans the audience and detects video recorders nowdays.

This kid sounds fairly innocent but I bet the movie is already on Cable in Cambodia.

    Startrek

The only Thai movie I've ever seen was when i was holiday in the Us. It was 'the King and I" and was the greatest load of boring crap that i quietly walked out after about 30 minutes. The only time i've ever walked out. That was before i came to thailand.

Oh i watched the sex scene of that big buget one Somrealoldthai.

And also a stupid ghost one on a bus. Cheap cheap <deleted>. woooo bloody peasants. give me coffee.

  3. After just joining the adsl ranks in the last few weeks i notice a big difference between the size of video files.

I've being downloadng Star trek Enterprise where a 40 minute episode is about 85MB and very watchable on the tv. I'm surprised they can compress them to that with that quality. That's in divx format which settings are difficult and for me crashes too much when trying to encode.

I see episodes of seinfeld(22minutes) and southpark compessed to35mb.

Seinfeld is watchable at that but would be better at double that an episode(=ads 512 bps speed)

I don't want to download simpson seasons at 185mb an episode as they are cartoons and are fine at a third or a fifth that size.

wmv and real media are impressive enough for the size.

As I'm limited with a 40 gig laptop I compressed the lovers guide (1 hour ) to 185 mb with winavi real media format along with a few others videos.

The girlfriend likes the lovers guide to positions BTW ;-).

the divx create bundle compresses to 300Mb an hour and is just drag and drop the files.

Anyway what i'll do is when i have downloaded seasons of "dead like me", "nip tuck" s16 simpsons and stuff like that I'll let winavi batch convert them from 380mb an episode to 120mb. very easy do. power video is an all round good converter too. there in my share.

Them enterprise eps at 85mb each are great, i wish the divx bundle had a drag and drop setting like that.

    comments?

  4. One i saw in the last few months was a foreigner who the police wrote it up as a death from viagra. The guy was found in his hotel room and it was reported he had injected too much viagra and overdosed.

Some of the stories that the police come up with as reasons are hillarious. I'd hate to be one of the victims.

When we were on holiday before on samui my girlfriend found a foreign body fully clothed wash up on the beach early in the morning. Turned out to be a German guy and that one just turned out to be a suicide.

There is so much potential for them to take what they call big money for peasants who are clever and whose hearts have gone numb to make money if they are near the sea or condos. I'm surprised it does not happen more than it does when i really look at it.

When my foreign friend broke up with a cheating girlfriend she treatened him with her father knocking him of his little honda sometime that he had killed before and could again.

But it woud be so easy for them its scary. Just another dangerous foreign driver who does not know the rules and was driving drunk some night.

The thai's understanding of truth is more flexible.

  5. full investigation.

Remember that waiter on faulty towers and that look on his face when he say"cey?"(sp?).

Ask for a real full investigation to these sort of cases to the powers that be and theres the look.

    Funny show that.

    RIP the 2 guys.

I've never come across drugs in thailand except for a motorbike taxi who asked me did i want to buy grass once. I gave him a surprised look and a No way, i don't smoke. I've heard about lots of setups that way but with kinds like him working with another family member whos a policeman or dressed like one and knocking good bribes for themselves out of tourists who still think they are in amsterdam.

    Still thats only money.

I would be amazed if there was many thai people who could support a heroine or cocain habit. Just as well too there isn't.

  6. There's a fine line between some of the light-hearted comments I read on these forums and outright narrow-minded racism toward Thais. The (tongue-in-cheek) comments are always mildly amusing to begin with, but they always seem to develop into an 'open season' for less trivial anti-Thai comments. Come on guys, how would you like a bunch of Thais living in your country slagging off the character of your fellow countrymen on public forums. Please try to keep your comments light-hearted (and/or constructive) :o

P.S. I should add that several Thais friends have told me on several occassions to 'beware of the police - they are only after your money', and I've met a couple of Thai policeman (one high-ranking too) so far that have spoken to me and acted with an obvious lack of respect and (IMHO) with dubious intentions. I'm not denying there is some truth in it, but you shouldn't tar them all with the same brush. I've met more polite, courteous honest ones than I have bad ones (although they're usually only manning the speed traps on the petchakasem road!). Hey, the situation's not perfect anywhere in the world! Welcome to Thailand.

    Just my 2 satang,

    --

    Ross

Absolutely, and apart from the inane comments there is a singular lack of respect for the dead, how ever they died. I just hope that none of their relatives and friends read the stupid remarks made by certain people.

    RIP.

    Here Here,

Best just keep our mouths closed and our obsevations to ourselves of what we see going on after a long time in the country.

People will get knocked of everyday eitherway, mostly Thai.

  7. Well we are all entitled to our opinions.

Dosen't do any good talking about it. nothing will change much here for a very long time. corruption and underhandedness is the way of life.

the honeymoon bubble will burst eventually for the newbies and the perfect smiles will be seen for what they really are.

    me thinks. opinion also.

  8. It would be logical to keep seized drugs and use them in cases like this also to discredit the victims.

inject in various cracks where it would go less noticed and mash the body a bit to move it around the clotted system.

It's sad logic but there it is. If you retire in thailand best not care too much about news like this.

  9. It's common to read about in thai newpapers about thai people including kindergar teachers buying poision for plants and animals(25 baht a bottle=60cents) and using it on kids and other thai people.

    No big deal.

Not saying it was that. maybe it was some other poison maybe even it was an accident that they went as far as death but anytime a foreigners is killed the media must report it as suicide or the like.

If i was the Thai police i would put money in victims pockets in cases like this to rule out murder for money as it would be bad for the countries image.

Never mind, it wasn't us this time.

  10. I've got a program call the divx undle which is very simple but it don't have the options to really compress like i see stuff like star trek enterprise and some movies compressed to.

42 minutes compressed to 80mb and good quality.

    you know any programs?

  11. How different is the Limewire pro versus the free version.

Im using the free version which hasnt slowed my computer down or added any spyware or adware that I can see.Very impressed with limewire.

Limewire Pro is cool. Has a Turbo boost feature which will probably bump you up double to what you are now...set the peers etc and enjoy...

    :o

    What ports?

I can't download anything over bitcomet or when i do they are so friging slow, 2k 3k forget it..

My internet is like an old lame donkey on its last legs.

I want it to be like a racehorse with a rocket shoved up its arsse.

I'm on tt&t adsl. very very not recommended.

  12. The best next-gen consoles are PS3 and XBOX 360. Which console are u likely to buy? Well, i wud prefer PS3.

I have not seen the specs for both systems but i had an xbox and ps2 and the xbox as it came latter ran at near twice the speed. mhz, I liked the way the xbox had the hd for loading big games quickly and all the emulators.

    Give me them both so.

  13. It even wouldn't let me go in 1st gear at a traffic light yesterday and i had to pump it to let it engage so i could move on but worked fine again the rest of the way home just felt slightly soft same as before.  So it's sitting today and i'm on the motorbike.

if it's something simple like adding oil and bleedingI'd rather do it myself to prevent risk of mechanics breaking something to make work for themselves as they do.

    I appreciate any pointers.

If the clutch won't dis-engage without pumping, it would indicate that you have little or no fluid in the reservoir. Usually easily visible under the bonnet. Just top it up.

You should not need to bleed it and certainly not need to replace the clutch!

Other symptoms for this would be limited travel in the clutch pedal and a light feeling to the pedal. as the loss of fluid is gradual you don't really notice it at first until finally there is not enough to release the clutch.

PS - I can't see if you say what the vehicle is or how old, but if it's less than 4 years old the loss of fluid may not be due to a leek of any significance, just that every time it was serviced no-one has bothered to properly check the various hydraulic levels.

Rather than get involved in major surgery straight away, just top it up and monitor it for a few days - if it goes down then you may well have a leek. If you have a local garage they will show you where the clutch fluid reservoir is and sell you the right fluid to put in it - or do it for you. this operation will take no more than 30 seconds - (bent linkages went out with the BSA bantham!)

BTW the car is 12 years old and had just the one chinese thai owner who gave me the inpression he kept t well serviced by letting me know when it was due for an oil change and to change water and coolant 6 months after buying it.

I was just going to the garage with it and i looked up here to see again.

    Thanks for the pointers.

One thing. The res is toped up but is it the right res. There are 2 i can see.

1 is the power steering res(a guess) over the alternator going to a pump on the alternator. That is low because i didn't get around to getting power steering fluid/oil.

The other one is in fron of the driver near the bulk head and is toped up. That's the brakes right?

So where is the clutch res?

  14. My resevoir is full and i'd like soft lips with big cups. oh yeah.

Seriously but the res in front of the driver is full and i've gone under and can't see any leaks around or under the big flat circle attached to the bulkhead in front of driver.

I'll ask around for a decent local garage and drive it in or better i'll let herself drive it in to change the seals in the clutch cylinders and top up the powersteering res cause it's low.

Very impressed with the crowd on Thaivisa. Thanks.

  15. It even wouldn't let me go in 1st gear at a traffic light yesterday and i had to pump it to let it engage so i could move on but worked fine again the rest of the way home just felt slightly soft same as before. So it's sitting today and i'm on the motorbike.

  16. It isn't in AIS' interest to speed up the work. The longer they dither, the more people are going to get fed up and switch over to AIS to make their lives easier.

The Shinawatra family love a monopoly, especially if it is theirs. Witness the governments opposition to mobile number portability, their nobbling of the NTC by stacking it with their cronies, and now this so-called 'problem'. Believe it, this 'technical problem' was engineered deliberately.

    The more asses switch over.

    Best switch away.
