  1. Success as in getting jiggy? Yes. That's not a brag: literally anyone can get success there, because There's a 1:10 male/female ratio. Just upload a photo and the messages will roll in.

Success at meeting a well rounded girl and potential girlfriend? No way! Be very careful. Girls that have resorted to online dating, there's usually a good reason why they've had no success in day-to-day life. There might be a few nice ones, but there are a LOT of crazies. Have a look and good luck to you, just be cautious.

edit: Obviously watch out for prostitutes on there. Pretty easy to spot them. If you put on your profile that you don't want a hooker they will leave you alone. Unless you DO want to pay for a girl. But if that's the case, why not save yourself a lot of time and just go to the red light district?

  2. Display, do you feel guilty for asking such a redundant question? If someone is unprofessional and unskilled, and they still insists on entering a classroom, they obviously don't care about their students or they have zero self awareness. Very sad to think of how many students are getting their time wasted by someone who just doesn't give a F.

But it is worth noting that some of the unqualified teachers are volunteers fresh out of university. I forget the name of the government program, but it sends them out to state schools in the sticks. I don't think they deserve criticism since a. they're paying to do it, and b. they're doing a job nobody else wants. And at least they do it with enthusiasm and energy.

Speaking of salaries there is a huge range. I know teachers at language mills in Bangkok teaching silly hours for 35k a month and no perks. I also know teachers at private international schools (and some of the better language schools) getting 70k+, full visa costs, insurance, etc. From what I hear, pay is a lot more standardised in korea, Taiwan, and japan.

  3. Getting screwed out of the deposit is a worldwide phenomenon no? Not just Thailand. Whenever I start renting somewhere, I pay the deposit and forget about it, anything that comes back you can see as a bonus.

As the other guy said, 2 months security deposit plus the first month's rent, that is standard here. So I would look elsewhere and save that 15000. There are plenty of empty condos around.

  4. They're stocked in villa market and boots.

    Including the 'turbo' version.

A related question: has anyone seen badger brushes for sale in Bangkok? I bought one from the UK but it is getting a bit worn out.

  5. An update on my application, I submitted it to Trendy House on the 9th April, I had a phone call from Trendy on the 30th, saying my passport was ready for collection, I will be going on Tuesday to collect overall its taken just over 7 weeks.

    JOHN

    Thanks a lot for this.

I'm past the 4 week waiting period and now in visa limbo because my passport has expired. It's good to know a rough idea of when it will be resolved. Did you need to book an appointment to collect?

  6. These are serious Thai matters. Most of those who read and post here are guests of this country. It is unseemly, ungrateful and downright offensive for guests to interfere or criticise their hosts. This is not a matter of free speech but one of common decency and respect.

I agree. Unless we are criticising Thai person Thaksin, Yingluck, the red shirts. Then it is completely okay to interfere.

  7. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

The UN has their head in the sand on Thailand. Thailand is not in a "possible" breach of human rights, freedoms, political expression, and speech.

Navi Pillay is a citizen of South Africa. I imagine she can recognize breach of human rights, freedoms and political expression. She doens't need to be the Director of the HRC.

I think he means that its impossible to breach human rights in Thailand, because no Thais care about human rights.

  8. PDRC, TV anti-Thaksinistas, Suthepistas and Yellows wanted reforms, out with YS, block elections and abolish the government, senators, the house et al.

You clamored, ranted and wished it:. There you have it and then some.

    Are you guys happy now?

Why wouldn't we be happy with many of the Shin clan and most of PTP and UDD locked up , what could be better.

For many of us the fact that Suthep is also locked up doesn't matter - it is all about getting rid of Thaksin's corruption of Thailand - Policaly, morally and financially.

Goodbye and we are well rid of this bunch of criminals

And all it took was a military dictatorship, in the year 2014 AD.

Next time someone tries to dispute this is a third world country, just give them a copy of this news story.

  9. Since nobody is posting a topic:

PATTANI: At least one person was killed and 30 others injured in a spate of bombings and gun attacks in the province’s Muang district on Saturday night, police said.

Erupting almost simultaneously about 7pm, at least 13 attacks took place at three 7-Eleven outlets, the office of the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), an electricity post and a petrol station in Muang district.

The entire district was left facing a blackout following the attacks.

The sound of a gun battle was heard near the PEA office, police said.

No details of the dead and injured victims were immediately known.

There were also two other bomb attacks in Rueso district of Narathiwat. No one has claimed responsibility.

  10. My BB is very slow too, but not sure if it is just Thai Visa as that is where I'm having all the problems.

I'm in Bangkok and also have had very slow access to thaivisa for the last hour. I assumed it's because some dimwit posted semi-illegal statements in the news forum.

  11. So let me see, we have the USA (A TWO party system, telling the whole world how to behave), Australia (With the most disliked PM in the history), France (with its constant scandals) Germany (with a slightly tainted past and a PM that has been compared to Adolf) and Great Britain (which walks at the hand of the USA and does everything they tell them, even if there are no WMD! Even if their PM has to LIE for it! beatdeadhorse.gif ) that love to, as an axis wage wars on other countries, without a clear solution what the result will be or whom will fill the vacuum, telling Thailand how to go about it's business???!!!

    Ok. Got it. cheesy.gif

Mind your own freckin' business! Yes ok, so there might be some sanctions. Good idea. That'll drive Thailand even more towards China. The WPFflags.gif Thai people have their own solutions for their own specific problems. 75% of the people wanted this coup. And now that it is without bloodshed, probably even more think its a good idea. Its inconvenient and not the way anyone would have liked it, including Gen. Prayuth, who is nearly up for his retirement, but hey, better than a civil war with all the weaponry that THIS FAILING GOVERNMENT WAS TRANSPORTING TOWARDS BANGKOK.

Let your Embassy staff stay in their lush offices cowboy.gif with air conditioners and live their lives (for only 4 years) behind the walls of their own compounds, locked away from the world. Driving to work in their luxury cars. But please don't tell me they KNOW what Thailand needs and should do, when its people are getting ready for a civil war.

In the midst of all your foaming you forgot to give some wild hyperbole to Japan and Singapore too. Thanks in advance.

  12. It's more likely those kids are the same ones who lit candles and changed red shirts with white shirts. They're fighting for no one's rights. All they do is stir unnecessary trouble on behalf of one very bitter and selfish man.

"I will defend the democracy with my life."

    Thaksin Shinawatra

We all know what happened. He took the money and ran. My message to students or anyone else is a very simple one. It's really not worth losing your life because of that greedy bastard. Be patient, life will get back to normal soon.

Yeah you're right, the yellows seem to support the coup, so anyone else must be red. They're the only two colors in the som-tam spectrum.

Just for reference, did Thaksin pay these protesters himself? Do they get a premium because they're risking arrest? Thanks.
