  1. Ohh now I understand the meaning of peaceful demonstration. I do not understand why the police military did not use water canons to clean up the mess done by S. Feel sorry for the policeman who was on duty. Comments that for the anti government protesters that he should not be there is sarcastic. A party can deny the participation on a election but to boycott the registration process shows the true intention of S. How many more people have to die before people come to their senses. Fight with democratic tools, motivate the people to vote for changes but to change a country to fall back into a dictatorship can't be the answer.

The demonstrations have given better results than expected. Stepping down of the present government, new elections, worldwide attention, all that could lead to a change. Is anybody expecting that the pro government Thais will be silent if their rights are taken away? On the end all of this people will have blood on their hands as it will become ugly.

  2. It's same the world over. Foreigner will be blamed for everything. In France and Italy the North African in Germany the east European in the US the Mexican and so on. I think that most of the foreigner are a mixture of red and yellow a bright Orange you may call it. Is a democratic right to have the freedom of speech and if any foreigner makes comment as long it is not against law and order than what? The picture outside of Thailand of the present situation is not pictured by the Farangs but the action of your Leaders on both sides of the aisle. S. who makes comments up to death treats to other Thais or Y. which was in the past acting to safeguard more or less the own interest. Put up a strong parliament with a strong opposition and not with some "I can't win MPs"

Get over it the problems are created by Thais and also have to be solved by Thai.

  3. The exchange rates do only have an indirect impact to the consumer as imported product and raw materials are becoming more expensive. Short ups and downs are normally harmless as that is linked to foreign currency trades. Long term lowering the baht value will only make the tourist happy and the expatriates which get their money in $£€. As Thailand has little resources on raw material and most of the products need the items from overseas an increase of export due to lower exchange rates will be only short term. The inflation rate will increase (as it has a lot in the the past) therefore salaries will increase etc.

the control of the exchange rate is not in the hand of the Thais but with the present political situation and uncertainty the chances of a lower Baht value is eminent.

  4. The impact of loss of investment you only will see after few month as ongoing investments will be completed. If new investments by international companies will take place that is a different story. Thailand's assets was always a stable political situation where conflicts existed but normally solved in short time. The break point was the burst of the economical bubble in the 90ties ( still not Taksin time). Companies now are careful to invest, now may be looking to countries like Indonesia and Vietnam. If the election in February will not take place or becomes a one party show than Thailand will feel the pain. There is also a risk that foreign governmental aid programs will be suspended as it will be only given to democratic governments. A selected government is not the answer.

  5. THe demonstrations have lost the steam but also the credibility as S. showed his true face as a fascist. He give orders that the military and policy should report to him. How naive is that. He asked The PM to step down and open the doors for reelection. He got what he asked for now he is so cowered that he has to eat what he ordered. Until now he never explained what he really want except to get rid of the Taksin clan. Don't forget the majority of Thais wanted that a Taksin is leading this country. As he can't get a majority in Thailand he now want a system that only people which like his ideas should be eligible to vote. What next? May be only people with a university degree can vote, that would be something.

I can't understand how he is capable to motivate so many people to demonstrate to strip democratic rights from them. If you see the demonstrators many of them are also simple people without much education, they are now begging outside " please take away our rights, we are to stupid to vote"

For me it would be interesting who is behind S.? Who is financing all the demonstration?

  6. I try to understand the whole situation. Democracy is based always on three pillars The 3 pillars of democracy are Judiciary(interprets laws), legislature(make laws) and executive(enforces laws.)

The constitutional court should monitored that the other pillar do everything in line with the constitution. Instead to ask the legally voted PM to resign the focus should be to strengthen the Judiciary. Actually the the government was not able to get the amnesty bill through shows that the basics are even working in Thailand.

Everything else like a election process where only "intelligent" people can vote is not in line with the constitution. The question is much more why are the opposition parties not in position to get votes in the rural area. The answer is simple they don't care about the Thai people in the rural areas. Mr. Taksin was smart enough to realize the potential of this voting group. You can call all the program of K. Taksin as freebies but it has given certain dignity to the poor people. It should be the objective of all people that no person has to beg for medical treatment. That he used this for his own benefit is normal. The democrats have established economic reforms such as tax heaven etc. for their clientele.

Rejecting the election in February the Democrats put themselves outside the democratic process. ( I love the sate men we would have a chance of winning, if that is the case than why not going and face the election?)
