  1. I have visited thailand many times and turned a blind eye to the food hygiene standards that differ from the UK, I have not once been ill (touch wood) and eat all of the street food etc. I also was a monk in a thai temple in the UK for many months and again was never ill but had to battle with the local government food hygiene inspectors about the food preparation and storage of food. Now I have a thai girlfriend here in the UK she is making food and leaving it out to the elements (not covering it and putting it in the fridge, leaving rice in the rice cooker (turned off) overnight, eating and preparing food well outside its sell by date etc. The house has never never been as clean but the whole food hygiene thing that I have grown up with makes me think she is doing something wrong and I am about to die from ruptured bowel and/or a rectal prolapse - overly paranoid or rightly so?

Can't be sure your cause of death will be ruptured bowel or rectal prolapse however it is sure that you are going to die
  2. These reports are like scare tactics. Trying to make the NLA think twice about doing anything or nothing at all. Instead they should be focusing on justice for the crimes against the people and the Gov and making sure justice is served no matter what others think or threaten.

So what if one group is not happy as long as justice was served. These people use and abuse their position with the people to twist laws, threaten and harass groups who enforce laws simply with their numbers. The news should be reporting their threats as intimidation against justice seekers and their parties should be disbanded and their leaders banned from speaking any politics or from re-forming any more political groups.

  3. Why would they even consider Kittisak's return since they boast blatantly he is wanted and he possibly has 700 mil? When are the police going to stop giving advance notices about who they are seeking to arrest and why? Will they ever learn?

Pssst Psst, mister if you pay me big money I can leak information that will help you...

After you give me the money, I'll give you the info so you have time to make your arrangements.

Then it will be leaked, when you are safe, just after you leave.

Heheeee I don't think its always this way. Thais don't want the embarrassment that someone was able to trick them or steal from them without their knowledge and further embarrassments of extended hearings giving the details so they find a way to sweep it under the carpet.

I know a english director once stole 3000 baht from every foreign teachers salary claiming it to be tax. This Thai did this for 2 years and netted millions from it. When she was caught the school just fired her and forgot about it. No legal action and no reimbersment of the money stolen. It was then explained to me this way as to the reasoning.

  4. Funny to see this article since prior to new years I saw a TV report with the inspectors checking buses and showing bald tires and giving breath and drug test. Must have been all for show on the TV though and they allowed those unsafe buses to operate anyway after reading this article. Save face and make it look like something is being done on the surface and all the while doing absolutely nothing.

  5. My wife was with the same Thai man for 6 years then she dumped him because he got a new Gf. I met her after and dated her for 3 years before we married. She comes from the South and has a Masters in Accounting. She works for the Ministry of education. Her family has rubber tree farms and palm oil trees. Her salary is half of mine which is pretty darn good. Not a rich lady but surely well off. Being the youngest daughter she inherits the land and house from the family. I guess I should mention that sin sodt was refused by her and the family. She had never worked at a bar or sold her <deleted>
My sinsod dowry was 2 mil baht.
Good lord! I hope your joking, I didn't pay, nor was I asked too. You would have to be a complete fool to buy your wife.

he didnt buy a wife. educate yourself

It is surprising that many people posting on a forum about Thailand understand so little about the culture!

Although technically he followed thai culture paying the sinsodt. I believe it is the same as buying her. Mind you this is my opinion only coming from a country whose history is paying money for slaves. Sinsodt is given to show you have the means to support a family with the woman. Thais have twisted it into a payment to the family for their daughter. That is why so many parents keep and use the sinsodt for their own benefit. It is not supposed to be this way. So basically unless that dowry goes to the wife and children then he is paying the family for their daughter. Plain and simple

    youre wrong, plain and simple.

Before you are headstrong you should read about it.

  6. A guy I knew once said about a girl who I was have a problem with " you knew what she was when you met her" basically she was a bar girl and money hungry and a cheat. But he was right, you can only blame yourself if things go wrong with a relationship with a bar girl. Higher risk ... Just saying :)

I would have to agree with you on that. Also, one has to think, these bar girls are having sex many many times for money. Not feelings or emotions. Anyone who marries a bar girl takes a chance she only screws him to keep him happy and is doing it coldly at that. Without feeling not emotion.

I knew a guy who married a bar girl and is still married to her. One of the first things that happened to him was her stating she doesn't like sex. Needless to say, this was said after the wedding and she ultimately gave him permission to be with other girls. She was just tired of it after having so many men for money. Sad to say this happens a lot and worse. The man makes a house and/or a business and once the women's future is secure she dumps him.

I would have to agree. Paying sinsodt might be culture here but for me it's the same as buying a slave. For my wedding we made a show to the aunts and uncles our sin sort but it went into my bank the day after our wedding and this was only to appease the more distant relatives and for the tradition of the wedding walking to the house en-masse to take the woman for the wedding.

  9. I'd be genuinely interested in what you think you're going to learn from this stupid <deleted> question really.

    Congratulations,

You've mastered racist troll baiting 101

Probably that everyone lies...... If I was a betting man, I am guessing probably

about 70 % married a sex worker. Just reread all the threads that say upstanding

Thai women regard farang as dirt on their shoes. And the next farang that tells

me he married a hi-so Thai - Chinese with relatives in powerful governmental

positions, I may just bitch slap him for insulting my intelligence.....

Unless......... you showed up in Thailand speaking perfect Thai, were loaded with

money, were exceptionally charming, and then took the time and effort to move

in the right social circles. I guess then you could end with one of these rare

    and desired Thai women.

I'm going to have to argue you with that. I have met a lot of Thai women who are looking for foreigners simply because they have been hurt so badly by ex Thai men. This doesn't mean there wasn't the attraction to a better life with a foreigner. After all, this women are taught to marry up in social status instead of marrying down.

  11. Tough, they only have themselves to blame - well Putin and his idiotic invasion of Ukraine

Putin didnt invade Ukraine. What do watch? Fox News the BBC perhaps. The US and EU where behind a coup that overthrew a democraticly elected government (not the first time). And then lie as if Russia was the bad guy. Its the reverse. Crimea is 90% Ethnic Russian and voted to remain part of Russia. I hope Russia stand up to these bullies and that there economy turns round.

Hitler's same rationale for invading Poland. First, send in the settlers. Then have them whine how the host country won't convert to invaders' culture, and beg the Fatherland to rescue them.

Most of the Russians I have met here just want to get away from the crap going on back home and live a peaceful life. They've added a lot to the expat community in a positive way. Then again, I don't live in Pattaya.

Yeah! They added a lot sure! Fleeing criminals. Mafia, scammers! Although the latter us coming from all over the Russkies that move here are not exactly exemplary.

  12. The morals, ethics, and values they teach these kids are amazing.

To think these are school kids. The same that they say they will instill the codes prayuth is pushing. Yet their learning doesn't come from the Gov. Is it taught everyday by role models (teachers) and by people they respect (parents) and their peers (so called friends and classmates.

So who is supposed to teach them to do good? Because apparently the ones who were supposed to are not doing to well and nobody but these people CAN do it.

  13. my sense is overall tourist number for the winter months are up year on year. A lot more Chinese tourists and other Asians. I suspect most locations in Thailand are up, maybe with exception of Pattaya.

Well right now its hard to get a hotel in Pattaya without advance reservation. Booked up!

    Absolutely incorrect.

Try any of the online hotel sites and there are plenty of hotels.

Isn't that what I said? You can't find one walking around very easy without a reservation? Duh
  14. Funny I have not read about China losing their tourism from Russia? Perhaps this is just another blame brought on by TAT for their excuses. I know Russia has some financial troubles. But this is not affecting the new tourist's that cone here

Let me dumb this down for you. The Ruble has lost about 50% in value over the last year. That means the foreign holiday for Russians has doubled in price.

So let me dumb this up for you! Other countries in Asia have not commented on a loss of Russian tourists

  15. The rubber tappers obviously have never heard of saving for a raining day,

while the prices were very good they must have thought it would go on forever,

which anything rarely does, so now its pouring down they turn to the Govt. for

help.maybe the Govt needs to open a Ministry of how to manage your money,

on second thoughts that would not work,as Governments are worse than people

    at managing the budgets.

    regards worgeordie

Not forgetting to mention that this years rain is no worse than past years for the monsoon season and they know it happens this time every year.
