  1. Any recommendations or suggestions please? I was quoted THB 9000+ for a year. I think I might take this on for a year before having the floors ripped out and replaced with laminate.

I need something that kills the colony as it's a longtime issue. I fell off monthly blasting with orange Chaindrite aerosol last year for a few months and noticed bad activity yesterday. I forgot my usual mask and goggles and had angina last night into this morning

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Moderators, I guess this could go in the health forum as well?

Mum writing here. Are you the parent of or a young adult with HFA (high-functioning autism)?

My daughter is in her early 20s, diagnosed at age 2 with classic autism, now fairly high-functioning, graduated with honours in her area of study (media and communications). Looking for other Third Culture Kids with autistic spectrum disorder to hang out with, go to music events together, some sports, gym. Been meaning to get back into Muay Thai as a hobby. Dealing with challenges in Executive Function, anxiety, depression, aggression with functional medicine. Fun, quirky, sweet, kind, naive, tendency to be misled.

If this isn't you but sounds like someone you know, please could you direct them to us. PM me.

    Thanks in advance. ????

  3. Well, not quite.

They’re for a flat I will be selling by next year so no real attachment. Maybe the new owners will appreciate them more. I just wanted to take care of a few details to show the flat was cared for and things are in general good order.

I’ve seen some really lovely Thai celadon in muted greyish-green-blue tones but these are too bright for my personal taste. My Mum is a compulsive shopper.

    Thanks for the chat. ?

  4. I was pointed to a lighting shop called Teck Huat on Sukhumvit diagonally opposite the Philippines embassy.

It has a small selection of lamp sockets for sale. They don't really do repairs but since I looked so desperate, they didn't know what else to do with me, they got their in-house electrician to change the lamp sockets for me.

Watching him do it confirmed that such an operation would have been beyond my minimal DIY skills. They charged me THB 700 to change 2 sockets and 2 switches. Not worth it since new and rather nice lamps cost around THB1,100-1, 300 and upwards at HomePro, for instance.

I wanted to save the expensive Thai celadon bases - it would have been a shame to throw them away.

    Here's the address:

    Teck Huat & Company

  5. I would also like to put in a word about the efficient service at Ekkamai Index Living Mall with Ms Chutima who speaks fluent English which always makes things so much easier.

Some odds and ends that were out of stock online or not available at Bang Na, I was able to get them through Ekkamai.

  6. Hi all,

I have a pair of lamp sockets that need changing as the rewiring will be beyond me.

Please recommend a place with shop name and/or address if possible.

    Thank you in advance.

  7. I was surprised by the comparable finish (often slightly better), slicker designs AND lower prices than Ikea for the items I was looking for.

Went to Bang Na on the weekend as it was more accessible for me. But will be making the bulk of my purchases online on their website later this week as I have been sitting on some of my choices. Seeing them in person was very helpful.

So far, I got a dining table and four chairs from their Ekamai branch that weren't available on their website nor Bang Na branch.

  8. Thanks, userabcd.

I rang Living Index - after a wait of several minutes, they got back with someone who spoke some English. They said their HQ in Rama 2 or the one in Bang Na.

Sorry, me again. Thank you for your previous replies, ubonjoe, lopburi3 and Mattd.

    I haven't exited the country.

If I stay till the 21 October 2018 permit to stay and apply for an extension of temporary stay (without exiting and re-entering before 13 July 2018 expiry of "enter before" date on O-A visa) with all the required paperwork (proof of funds etc), will I get an extension of temporary stay till October 2019?

    Thank you again in advance.

If the enter before date on your OA visa is 19 July you do not need to do an extension of stay. Your visa cannot be extended. You will extend the most recent one year permit to stay to stay your visa allowed.

If you do another entry on or before the enter before date on your visa you will get a new one year entry.

After the enter before date (19 July?) you will need to get a re-entry permit to keep your last one year entry valid if you want to travel.l

    Hi UbonJoe,

Thank you very much to you and lopburi3 for your responses.

My "enter before date" on my VISA is 13 July 2018. So, if I go the route of exiting Thailand before that date, 'all' I have to get is a multiple re-entry permit.

Q1. Do I have to provide the same documentation (passport pages, proof of funds) as an extension of temporary stay when applying for the "multiple re-entry permit" at Chaeng Wattana?

(So, EFFECTIVELY, the multiple re-entry permit is LIKE an "extension of temporary stay" though I'm not calling it that since it isn't?)

Q2. Does this mean I can get a multiple re-entry permit every year INDEFINITELY based on this one visa?

  11. Sorry to hop on this thread but I couldn't find an answer by typing keywords in the search box.

My O-A visa based on retirement (obtained at the embassy of my country) expires 19 July 2018. Under "number of entry" on the visa it is marked "M".

My question is (are): Q1. Would going to Chaeng Wattana for an "extension of temporary stay" for the first time before 10 JUNE 2018 be too early (maybe early June 2018 or even May 2018) and/or Q2. How soon can I apply for an extension of temporary stay? As I will likely be leaving on a trip out of Thailand around 15 June and expect to be back in Thailand around end July. For which, from reading this thread, I know I would also require a "multiple re-entry permit".

I was out of the country once in October 2017 and got a "permission to stay" stamp in my passport until October 2018.

With thanks in advance for your advice.

  12. Yesterday afternoon at Songkran waterfight in Silom area:

My daughter's waterproof bag was slashed and wallet with everything in it stolen - national ID, atm cards, cash. It appeared to have happened some time after paying for drinks at a 7-11. Or maybe during. She doesn't know.

She and a Thai-speaker friend made a police report in a temporary booth in Dusit Thani hotel. Arrived home early and badly shaken. Otherwise not physically hurt.

Spare me the moralisation please. Just a warning, it still happens.

  14. Anyone in Trang environs at the moment? How are the roads to Pak Meng Dock?

Current floods notwithstanding, we are due to fly into Trang for Koh Ngai second half of December 2017.

Would we be able to get a public mini-van from Trang airport to Pak Meng, then boat? How much?

The hotel quoted THB 600 pp one-way mini-van and boat which sounds excessive.
