  1. I still don't know what pyramids you're going to make but that's fine...

Metal shavings i've seen in the subs of chinatown where there's a lot of metalwork done on lathes. But i bet they allready have a function for it.

Thian, quick question, can you tell me where in Chinatown (name of a road at least) please you've seen those metalwork places as it's easy to get lost there. Thanks again.

  2. I think epoxy and polyester resin are different. How, I couldn't explain.

Well, I hesitate to say, given the atmosphere here on anything slightly fringe. It's for an orgonite pyramid.

I found a local Thai factory that does polyester resin for casting but it comes in industrial-sized drums. I doubt I will make that many to begin with. I also have to source other materials like metal shavings. It could be one of those projects one gets excited about in the beginning, fizzles out, then I'd have to get rid of stuff.

The import charges to Thailand are silly for anything over 1 kg. I order small items regularly from eBay - most sellers have been helpful in marking down the value and as a gift - and iHerb (under US$60 for the latter).

Not sure about liquidy flammable substances though.

  3. This is from the Thai embassy KL site:

    http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/contents/files/services-20150909-174011-210354.pdf

Your EU country is not listed there so I assume it's ok for you to apply there at this time of writing. You don't need me to tell you that you should check again before you book your ticket.

Yes, I had my child with me as she had to renew her ED visa as well. So I can't answer your question. Sorry. Could you please let me know your outcome though?

  4. Hi Jason and everyone else who's reading,

Just to let you know we got our visas without any issues. We got to the embassy in KL on 10 September 2015 at about 8.40am, fourth in line, submitted our papers (medical certificate not required) but had to hang around till 11.40am to get our slips that say when we can pick them up. Picked up the next day at after 2.30pm visa collection time.

Please read visa requirements before you go as nationals of some countries have to apply in their own countries.

Much easier than applying in Singapore and location is very convenient for us. Will go again.

  5. My child and myself hold Singapore passports.

She has been on the 1-year ED visa issued by the Thai embassy in Singapore. Current extension of temporary stay expires 24 September. Goes to Raffles College which is still waiting for their full operating licence so it entitles its students to the full one-year visa.

I've been on the "parent accompanying a minor studying in a private institution" O visa.

Would you advise us getting our new visas in KL? (Need to be there because of my Mother who has been ill.)

    Thank you in advance.

  6. A helpful ThaiVisa member who PM-ed me told me about Fix & More on Sukhumvit soi 49. There are actually two seamstresses there at the Villa Market. I went with the one on the left as it was the first one I spotted. I pick up my things next week. Prices are on the steep side.

    Thanks again, all.

  7. I went to Fortune Town earlier this week. Phone repair shops are on the 2nd level but none to recommend. Service was quick and inexpensive but I have to go back as my issue wasn't sorted. My fault as I hadn't brought along an adaptor to make sure it was repaired. Thanks again, siam2007.

I am sorry to hear that you did not find a good shop to get your phone repaired, I never actually used a phone repair shop at Fortune Tower, I only knew many are there. What I actually used was the Computer-repair shop Pro Corner and I am sure your experience would have been more pleasant. I believe Phone repair shops are rather hit and miss and the good ones can only be identified by word of mouth, for example here in this Forum

Oh, no. I meant there didn't seem to be much to choose between shops. If anyone's looking, just go to level 2 and pop in and out of shops to compare charges and go with any one you like.

I just got back. The phone was fixed. Total charge for replacing the USB port + a new cable was THB 850. They charged me THB 600 for labour and the USB port the first time and THB 250 today for the new cable. I didn't bargain. I went to #2B20 which is about four shops from the up escalator with a bright pink shop sign. The sign said "iTouch" but their business card says "B P Phone".
