Ok thanks. What's the best thing for him to do. He is in Thailand now. On a 30 days visa exemption.
Should he go to Amphur ? with his dads id card and birth certificate or?

Ok that's great. So eveybody that is born and have a thai father becomes thai even if they are born and live in another country

The boys are born in Sweden where both parents stayed. And have lived in Sweden until lately. Are they still Thai by birth ?
-
I have a friend (Swedish) that was married to a Thai man a long time ago (divorced).
They have 2 boys together. One of the boys got his Thai citizenship not that long ago. Can his brother get an extension of stay as dependent ? His mother can get one I suppose.

Can you use a Thai account that you have togerher with your wife for the 400k or the 800k money that you need for a 1 year extension based on thai wife or retirement? Or can you use 50 % of the sum?

If you try to get the income letter, you would faint....

Yes but what a pain to do on top of that you then have to pay in the region of 2,500 baht for a one page letter as well as show them proof of all your earnings which I am sure BIG BROTHER makes a note of I used to do that but now prefer to ship my ££££s in one lump sum and after the new extension has been approved live of it for the remaining nine months, this also means I only pay a one time transfer charge from the UK to Thailand which in itself saves a few quid !You don't need to have any money in a Thai bank for a retirement visa unless your income is too low. I've been on a retirement visa for many years and have never had to show any money in the bank. I just get a proof of income from my embassy every year. That's all that is needed.
I pay 570 baht for the income letter. And not 2500 baht

Nothing official has been stated that it has to be done by air.The one closest to Chantaburi didn't let anyone cross and come back. Not even the people with multiple non O visa. My friend went there today.
So everyone needs to fly out, wow that's one way to generate more revenue for the airports and in 1 blow wipe out alot of the Visa Run industry
People were able to cross at Ban Laem if they had valid visa.
As part of the confusion a lot of people just didn't bother to try today.
Probably not official. But that's what immigration told everyone at the border where my friend went. Only people flying can go out and come back.
But I'm sure that border will also allow people with multiple visa in a couple of days..

My friend have to return from the border today. Nobody could pass the border and they where told that all the landborders where closed. Only airplane was ok.
Anyone that knows whats going on. Could it be because of the bombing and bribes at the landborder before ?

Can you get the 60 day extension of stay, based on thai wife/child. Even if you arrive on a 30 day visa exemption ? So it will be 30+60

It works on one year stamps which are issued every time you enter the country or do an extension.
If you don't leave the country at all then you need to extend your current stay by one year at a time as the 'admitted until' date approaches.
With this visa it makes no sense to get a re-entry permit as it's a multiple entry visa with no limit on the number of entries while it's valid, also each entrance gets a fresh 1 year stamp from the day of entrance.
I presume this ends when the membership period ends but that remains to be seen as nobody will have had a membership expire yet.
As for how much money it saves, that would depend on your individual circumstances. But I believe it pays for itself in my case in less than 2 years.
It seems it is no different from a retirement visa which costs only 1900bt per year
It's a huge difference for people that are below 50 years old

That's <deleted> awesome guys. I have been so mis informed over the years! The 2 or 3 entry visa sounds perfect, not a big deal to leave the country every 6-9 months.
Thanks so much everyone who contributed.
Last question... anyone know where they will issue a 3x entry tourist visa?
You still have to leave the country after 90 days. You can't stay 6-9 months

$1500 a month for 2 adults and 3 children is to little money. You are lucky if that will cover health care, visa and school-fees.
It's $300 per person and month !!!

MBK has a few shops on the second floor that makes passport photos. And there are hundreds of other places in Bangkok also.
