Be a bit hard to track them here. The TMD Nan radar is still broadcasting images for the morning of 5 August. A few other TMD radars seem to be behind as well.

Have a number of personal stories and several more involving close family members. I wrote about this one on another site once but am too lazy to go and find it so will just write it again.
Almost three years ago in an older style hotel in Niagara Falls. Woke in the very early hours to the Thai wife seemingly trying to utter something, but could not make it out. I'm on my side facing away from her and thinking it was just her having a bit of a nightmare did not disturb her. I noticed the room seemed very cold, colder than it had been. As I fell asleep I heard something near the room door but just put it down to someone shoving the account statement under it as happens in many hotels. Next morning not sure how it came up but the wife tells me she woke to a presence standing over her and pressing on her chest. She swears she was awake and tried to wake me by voice but nothing coherent would come out. She said even though she was terrified she fell back to sleep immediately the presence ended. And that noise near the room door...next morning a pad of post-it notes that had been on the table near the window was 5-6 meters away lying at the foot of the closed and bolted room door. I later did some research on the hotel and while it has a colourful past, don't recall that I found anything on it being haunted. It actually has a higher profile for a historical UFO related event. We were only staying that one night and in the unlikely event we were ever to return to Niagara Falls, I wouldn't stay there.

But weren’t these guys defending the spoilt brat by saying he was driving less than 80kph? This is what I find strange.
Perhaps he is now not in a position to change his story and that was important to someone. RIP to him, he may well have paid a high price for compromising himself. I doubt we'll ever know.

The Chinese opened some dams ?
Believe the Yom does not have any. Plus the catchment is entirely inside Thailand.

Might have had it. A Thai guest in our homestay over Christmas was quite ill with heavy cold/flu symptoms. Last day of the year I came down with fever, body aches/pains, a bit of coughing and some chest tightness. No nasal discharge. I put myself to bed for four days and put it down to a bout of mild flu, albeit a bit different from what I've had previously. For me, the body aches/pains were the worst I've experienced compared to other flu bouts. Drove me to take some very strong and effective painkillers. I've not sought any type of follow-up test and take all of the precautions as if I haven't had it, which I suspect is the more likely possibility. Was a poor introduction to 2020.

I see they are wasting money by running a feel-good type advertisement on CNN.

Nan Makro can be infuriating. Last week no whipping cream, smoked chicken breasts, green melons or pasta sauce. Additionally over the last six months they have stopped carrying my favourite greek yougurt and pork sausages.

My wife owns and runs a homestay in northern Thailand. She decided to give this scheme a miss. Is in no mood to open another bank account nor be in a position waiting on money from the government. Her business is only in it's second year and it is shaping up to be a blockbuster season. Forward bookings through to January are high. Of course could all be undone by another wave of the virus. She increased her prices for this coming long weekend by a modest 15%, but still less than the standard prices for the Oct-Jan period. We are fully booked this coming weekend including doing lunch one day and breakfast another day for big bike groups not staying with us.

Had some in our master bedroom in Dubai a few years back. Likely came with the rented furniture and soft coverings. We had to strip, clean, wash the blankets/covers multiple times and dismantle and clean the wooden bed several times to get rid of them. A key element was using a strong jet of hot air from a hair dryer on every piece and nook and cranny of the bed. And even then took maybe four times before we were confident they were gone.

Serious question...is there a list of viruses that traditional Thai medicines cure?

If he said something like he had full confidence in the cabinet that would generally mean it will be next week.

Near Pua in Nan province...we got a 3% discount on March and April, and were told to wait until early May to pay both.

In the last couple of months have been making my way through some dessert recipes from my elderly mum, in some cases reliving childhood memories. Done apple crumble, golden dumplings and bread and butter pudding. Already cook similar such as upside down pineapple cake and chocolate self saucing pudding. All go down quite nicely with a good quality vanilla ice cream.

These are the rules of thumb that I know of (about three years old):
15k per square metre unfinished.
25K per square metre finished to Thai standards
45k to Western standards
55k to top end standard.
I paid 13K per square meter in upper Nan province. The build finished in Feb last year. I'd say my build was far closer to Western standards than Thai standards and have had many comments to that regard. Spend considerable time to get a competent builder and yes indeed, make sure family are not supplying anything or working on it.

True has not been very good for us here in northern Nan province over the past year but will give them credit for an incident last week. We've had some periodic maintenance outages and last week when I saw the signal on the fibre drop out at 2:30pm I thought it was another. But at 3:30pm not returned. Had the wife call the service centre, she was then connected to a local contact. No maintenance going on, he would come to our home. Less than 30 minutes later we see a True vehicle slowly passing our place and stop 150 meters up the road. He had spotted the cable was down. Turns out the cable had been brought down and snapped by something, likely a truck carting soil from a property in a valley across from us. Wife took him down some cool drinks and by 5:30pm it was all fixed.

I give my wife's mobile number at the Big C register as she is the member and more often than not is not with me. In more than a year I've received thousands of baht discounts (in total) and not once had to show any ID. But I can recall occasionally the wife has had to show her Thai ID card for a discount to be processed.
Basically the same at Tesco Lotus although I don't ever recall the wife needing to show ID.

Been some nice sunsets up here near Pua. Not a lot of burning evident in the area but there is a hint of smoke in the air.

I got hugged by a Tom girl guest at our homestay last week. Neither of us seemed awkward about it. I've only ever had a Thai initiate a handshake once, and he offered his left hand which I shook with my left to avoid any issue.

We had our first annual extension last month. I was expecting a visit, nothing. So a week out from the end of the one month extension got the wife to call to see why there had not been a visit...maybe you have overlooked us. Told they only randomly select for subsequent visits and to come in on the extension end date for the one year extension. Did so, and no issues.
Then last week as we were leaving the IO after doing the 90 day report one of the head officers approaches us to say they came out for a surprise visit and couldn't find our house. Despite the accurate hand-drawn map, despite the name and location of our village shown, despite the GPS coordinates also on it, despite them having my and the wife's mobile numbers, despite it being a prominent house on a well used road. Beggars belief.
BTW, my IO have never muttered a word about the TM30 this year when we have two 90 day report and the two visit annual marriage extension interactions.
-
Have done a 90 day report a couple of months ago and just last week got the marriage extension at Nan Immigration...no TM30 was mentioned. We had the supporting docs ready in case requested but were going to push back on any fine since in March when I got a single re-entry permit they told us it was not required.

My wife's homestay in northern Thailand is seeing this. She has had unusually high amount of business since reopening 8 June and forward bookings through to early January are amazing. She is set to make some serious money through to at least then provided COVID stays contained. But she is very aware everything could change for the worse really quickly.
