  1. And if I told them, they wouldn't believe me...

    If you told whom what?

I am reposting my response from the Pattaya Forum http://www.thaivisa....ter-complaints/

What's the use of referring to a post you say was removed at your request? Confusing.

why it was buried here I don't know but for those who may be discouraged by the source here is a snippet.......

Who buried what where and when? Whatever may have been buried 12 years ago, when the article to which you linked was published, must have decomposed by now.

I can see we need another category in "Thai Visa Brigades"

    "Need to be Spoon Fed"

  2. To the OP ... I'm confused ... blink.png

I am reposting my response from the Pattaya Forum http://www.thaivisa....ter-complaints/

I read back through the original News Item ... I can't see your post anywhere there.

Could you show that link please?

It was rightfully removed after a PM from the mod, pointing at that there were essentially 2 identical posts from me and I chose to have my Pattaya post removed. I have requested the mod to edit it out.

The link that engendered my anger was

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/771478-pattaya-officials-inspect-wheelchair-access-after-complaints/

    Now, I'm even more confused.

Correct me if I haven't got this correct.

You feel that this story in the Pattaya News Clippings Forum deserves a wider audience?

So you simply re-post it in the General Forum?

You say that you are "I am reposting my response" ... but don't offer a link?

When queried about the lack of a link or a quote you say that ... "It was rightfully removed after a PM from the mod"

The link that you supply simply loops back to the Original Story?

    .

Maybe you should have stayed in bed, seems ? you are the only one confused.

  3. I think this is not a meritocracy, so whether you bought a degree from Pacific University or got a 1:1 from Cambridge is irrelevant.

    It's Who You KNOW

One wonders where people dream up their silly comments. Anyway to rephrase the last bit, what is important is who wants to know you and one's education background definitely helps.

By the way what on earth is a 1:1. Is it supposed to designate a First?

Good question, have you ever heard of Guanxi, In East Asian societies the boundary between business and social lives can sometimes be ambiguous as people tend to rely heavily on their closer relations and friends. This can result in nepotism in the work force, as it is common for authoritative figures to draw from family and close ties to fill employment opportunities; instead of assessing talent and suitability such as is the norm in Western societies. This practice often prevents the most suitably qualified person being employed for the position..

When we set up offices in China were advised to hire some movie star to represent us and we were Engineers, he did not know if his ass was drilled tapped or bored.

This is from one of my lectures to businesses considering investment in Asia. Pity you never attended

That I worked and lived in China and every East Asian country except North Korea since 1973, and India probably gave me some insights, and I was married to a Chinese girl.

I was even given the Chinese name Shan Dai Wong, (Sam Wat Wong by the way, not Dai To Wong if you don't know the WONGS are differentiated) The Sam Wat has Three Cross bars. (King of the Mountains, or Thieves possibly)

I think I have the credentials and authority to repeat It is NOT a meritocracy here..You do not need to wonder any longer.

  5. The lads and lasses at the car wash I frequent, really knock themselves out with the vigour of their work, not move as if walking through waist deep water as I see in Lotus etc. They make a car look like new and never seem to pause between tasks.

    They get Baht150 per day.

I always give them Baht200 to share and still think the cost is too cheap. I think it's about Baht200 (depending on size of car and inside/outside).

Baht500 would not be too expensive.

  6. Curious as to how this topic has revived after 8 months asleep.

So I will nail my colours to the mast.

I am an unapologetic racist, based on personal experiences, while not a good scientific sample to plot a Gaussian Distribution.

I have of course made personal exceptions, to me they are "the exception that proves the rule"

Like a previous poster I affirm my belief that "The w***s begin at Calais"

ref Thailand's Official attitude to disabled people, as it is so disgraceful I believe it merits a wider audience.

    http://www.jamaicaob...ically-disabled

why it was buried here I don't know but for those who may be discouraged by the source here is a snippet.......

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) -- A court upheld a decision by a government agency to bar a physically disabled lawyer from taking a test to become a public prosecutor, ruling that the agency has the right to choose the "right person" for the job.

The verdict on Thursday drew fire from civil rights and lawyers groups, which vowed to intensify efforts to fight laws in Thailand that exclude people with disabilities from a range of occupations ranging from teachers to masseuses.

The Constitutional Court ruled 12-3 that the State Attorney Commission had not violated the constitution when it prevented Sirimit Boonmul from taking an exam to become a prosecutor because it deemed his "personality and body were in an inappropriate state".

    Says it all I think

  8. I saw that clip yesterday on the news. Not trying to pour cold water on it but he's supporting himself in a frame with straps and it looks a long way from walking or if he has any control over his legs at all.

You saw the picture and thought it was no big deal. Get someone to read the article to you if you have more than 20 second attention span.

I despair at the shallowness frequently displayed here.

  9. Passing frequently along Sukhumvit..Sattahip to Lotus, I noticed a few acres of land next to Wat Na Jomtien School being cleared.

Another much need unoccupied condo I thought.

But No....it is being turned into a sort of small park.

I tried to ask the workers what was it all about, and their lack of English could not explain.

However in view of their much appreciated endeavors I went and found an ice cream guy and persuaded him to come to the site.

I then saw a notice, not in English, so took a pic hoping someone can tell me what the area is and under whose auspices.

  10. There is a lot of macho posturing on TV. I wonder what these fantasists would think of this..... After Jeremy Clarkson's father-in-law died, his daughter discovered a Victoria Cross in his effects. He had never bothered to tell anyone !

Probably not because he felt he did not deserve it.

"quote" Throughout the whole course of the Battle of Arnhem, Major Cain showed superb gallantry. His powers of endurance and leadership were the admiration of all his fellow officers and stories of his valour were being constantly exchanged amongst the troops. His coolness and courage under incessant fire could not be surpassed."unquote"
