  1. I want to get a Thai passport for my 14-yr old Thai national son. He was born here and has a Thai birth certificate and Thai ID card. I am NOT married to the mother. From what I read the mother needs to get a certificate of Parental Power - Por Kor 14 from the local Ampur office. My Thai 1-year Non-Immigrant "O" visa is based on support of my child, and I have the documentation from the Ampur confirming this. But the Por. Kor. 14 means she has sole guardianship of my son - which she does not. I really don't want to hassle with "the father of the applicant cannot sign the parental consent form alone unless there is a court order granting sole guardianship to the father." Has anyone gotten a Thai passport for their minor son/daughter lately, and what documents did you need? Other suggestions? Thanks so much.
  2. https://pattayaone.news/online-visa-extensions-for-expats/ - "The Immigration Bureau (IB) unveiled its Electronic Extension of Temporary Stay (e-Extension) service". Hey, what's happening with this "Online visa extensions for Expats"? Only in BKK, but is it up and running? Anybody use it? I guess it's for a very limited group of expats - https://thaiextension.vfsevisa.com/document-information
  3. I rec'd my Form 7162 in mid-July, but was waiting for my son's Form 7161 so I could return them in one envelope. Form 7161 never arrived, so I sent them both via FAX, and did NOT send either form via mail.
  4. FAX'ed my 7162 and the 7161 for my dependent last Friday. Confirmed FAX rec'd via FaxZero. Is that much different than EMS confirmation? If SS loses it, or doesn't enter it, still have to resend....
  5. I received the 7162 for myself in mid-July, but I have NOT received the 7161 for my dependent son. If the 7161 does not arrive shortly I will download and return it with the 7162. I live in Chanthaburi province.
  6. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who hasn't received it.
  7. OP here. I received my Form 7162 a few weeks ago but I have not received Form 7161, for my dependent. Has anyone received their 7161 yet? I'm thinking if it does not arrive by mid-month I will download the form and fill it in myself and send it together with my 7162.
  8. Thanks for the update. I think it'd be a good idea if folks can post when they receive their notices so others have an idea as to when they may be arriving. Thanks
  9. Good list! Are the requirements different when applying for the first time? I presently have a 1-yr visa based on support of a Thai child. Also, does one need to show how the money in the bank account were transferred from overseas? (I use a debit card, receive cash at the bank, and deposit it into my account).
  10. Interesting you were able to do this. Maybe next year you can note how you managed to finish the Federal part and download the 1040 forms you needed, without doing a State tax return and not having to pay any $. Please post back to this thread!
  11. I will have to check them out. I used FreeTaxUSA and downloaded the completed Federal forms, and modified my address in a PDF editor. I was a bit annoyed with FreeTaxUSA that you can't e-file your Fed return until you complete a State return - for which they charge you $. What about OLT.com? Did you e-file with them? How did it go?
  12. Has anyone used a FREE Online Tax Service for their 2021 taxes that allows you to enter a foreign address? I DO NOT want to use Intuit's service, as their "free" service always ends up costing me at least U$50. Update: Used the IRS Free File Online Lookup Tool: https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/results/ and the only one that came up was TaxSlayer. If this is in the wrong section please move. I searched and couldn't find a previous thread - please post link if there's one already. TIA!
  13. It is time to renew my son's US passport. I'd prefer not to take the mother to the US Embassy BKK, and per https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/passports/minor-passport-renew/ I can use form DS-3053 to indicate her consent, and that "A DS-3053 can be notarized by appointment at the U.S. Embassy (free-of-charge), or by a Thai notary public." The form is in English, only. Has anyone used a "Thai notary public"? Does every Ampur office have them? Any other suggestions / comments would be appreciated. TIA
  14. I have not received any notice as of date, either. Just checked my bank and the September SS was deposited as usual. Thanks to all of you who post and keep this thread active with the latest information.
  15. Thanks! I'm QR-challenged. Can you read this one?
  16. Got my 2nd C-19 VAX. First dose was SinoVac, second AstraZeneca. Here's the official "certificate" I received from the hospital. Note there's already space for a 3rd dose. Look official, doesn't it!
  17. My son is in the 6th grade attending a school that's a mixture of private and government funded (or so I have been told). Here's the original question in Thai. Maybe Google translate was a bit off? We are not sure what the "correct" answer actually was!
  18. My son is doing his online testing today. Here's a Google translation screen shot of one of the questions. Kinda interesting. A woman can cook, clean, and get a job - but, let's not take things too far! (I hope this is the right forum - I couldn't find the "Farang Pub" one - please move if necessary)
