  1. I was in many countries in Asia and Europe, but I do not know better country to live in than Thailand!

I am over 50 and visa is not problem for me and very cheap too.Cheapest at all comparing to any country I was in!

Weather is warm all over the year, food is great.People are in general friendly.

If you can socialize well, eat their food and learn to speak Thai, living cost is very cheap.

I have steady income from Europe about 1000 Euro and it is pretty good money in Thailand if you do not drink to much and do not pay bar girls!I feel that I live like a "king" comparing to my country life cost!

My Thai GF work too and we live in her small condo. She is owner!

I am happy here and I do not think to go back in European Union unless I get seriously sick.

Health can be only problem for me cos I can not afford cost of hospital bills here.

All people I know that live here, love this country and want to stay here for a life!!!

I think people who can be unhappy here ,will be unhappy any where else!

  2. My advice is not to buy house or expensive condo in Thailand!!!

If you decide to live here, much better is to build house and control expenses !!!

You can do it much cheaper(at least double cheaper) with much more quality!!!

We can not own land, but we can own house on our name.

Land to build we can rent on 30 years on renew option or buy on Thai wife!!!

Condos are far overpriced in Bangkok,Pattaya,Phuket etc. and not maintained well .

It is cheap here to rent condo and no need to buy!

  3. For a start the thais do not want you here but if you leave can you please leave your atm card at the gate, they are so thick you think about they do not want you here but you probaly spend more in a month in thailand

than thai do,yet the immigration are so far up there <deleted> they cannot see that,we are good for every thing here,we buy cars we buy motor bikes all with vat,you would think they would open there arms to us but sadly they really do not want you here.

    Not true!!!

It is problem in you ,not in Thai people.

Somebody can not socialize here and therefore ,the best option is to leave country!!

I traveled all over the world and I could not find better place to settle down.

Not just temples and hookers, many great things you can find here for very competitive price!!!

Sometimes I got shamed about bad manners some foreigners here.

If you can not accept their culture and people, just leave it and go!!!Very easy!!!

  4. Yes, I would. I'm under 50.

Glad to hear it, did the METV not affect you at all? Maybe you go back to the UK every so often

    and the METV suits you.

I'm not on a tourist visa - I live here.

I know there are ways for expats, especially under fifties, to live here all the time ie, working here, the elite visa etc.

It is nice to see you are happy here, so am I. The new visa rules don't affect me, but I think the Thai government is being very unfair on some expats.

Visa in Thailand is much easier to obtain and much cheaper than any other country in Asia.

One year Visa in Philippine is 10 time more expensive,in Cambodia few times.

In Vietnam almost imposibble get long term Visa.Same in Lao if you are not married.

In India is incredible expensive, same in China and you need a lot paperwork as well!

Retirement Visa is very easy to get here, same as marriage Visa(little a bit more hassle, but easy)!

All Visas are VERY CHEAP as well!

  5. I googled 'thai kale' and it came up 'thai kale with pork' which indeed is a common dish...my folks just refer to it as 'pak' like all other veges...

it's the most ubiquitous leafy green vege in Thailand, it seems...always available everywhere...I usually wash thoroughly, remove the tough stems, chop once roughly diagonally and add to a stir fry (on top, any stir fry; chicken , pork, tofu, etc) cover and steam during last few minutes of cooking...

    not bad....

  6. It is very risky to make such contracts in Thailand now ,when real-estate business in Thailand is in big danger to collapse!

Prices are too high and banks are in danger too,so they are very cautious for giving new mortgages!

There is huge amount of new units unsold in Bkk,Pattaya and Chiang Mai as I can notice from news in internet and media!

Unfortunately,it is not much we can do if these things happened !

Thais does not want(and they have no cash)to buy second hand units.Banks will not finance such units as well.

I think prices will go down sharply very soon ,mostly from foreigner owners very soon!
