  1. Relax Valentine, just joking back @ britpop. People having a go at me for not wanting to sell privately, despite me making it clear in my 1st post.. I didn't know I was starting a thread about what is the best way to sell a car..

Sorry flying clog, my reply wasnt intended to be directed at you, I'm sure you are not a tire kicker !

Thanks schlog, will look into that one. I don't recognize the road where the garage is, where in Phuket is the garage located ?

  2. Thanks but as I said I don't want to sell privately, don't really have the time and patience for all the phone calls and people coming round my house kicking the tires !

Brother/uncle/husband of thai GF sounds like a good option though, thanks for the tip !

  3. If your yearly fees is just 15,000 you shouldn't (or dont) have a company !

Shut it down, dont just leave it "idle". Your accountant is right but I wouldn't go as far as saying you would be deported. If anything it would be the other way round, if you just walk away and leave the company hoping that it simply goes away you are wrong, stick around and the authorities will catch up with you and you might never be able to leave the country, the slightest tax bill can snowball into something pretty big, the compounding interest on fines here is scary !

If you intend to leave the kingdom never to return then walk away, if you intend to stick around then shut it down correctly. Bear in mind that closing a company is more difficult than opening one !

Unless your company has assets its worth nothing, its a liability and you wont be able to sell it.

  4. Hope someone can help me here. Need to sell a 2nd hand car and looking for a quick sale, dont want to advertise privately such as Phuket Gazette.

Does anyone know of any used car sales places that will buy used cars ?

    Cheers

  5. I see TV still has so many nice people who are always looking to help their friends. Well at least its not as bad as "my friend wants to get a visa for his TGF to go to the UK/USA/Australia..

  6. "Some of us used to walk barefoot around here, but now we all wear rubber soles all the time," she said.

The Thai logic of enforcing health & safety, wait until it happens before you take precautions !!

    RIP young man.

Actually its human logic rather than a Thai thing.Western safety standards are all driven by such logic. Its called learning from our mistakes. I was electrocuted as a kid after I touched an uninsulated live conductor on a British Standard Electrical fitting. Thihe standards have improved since then but I wonder how many people had to die before the problem was sorted?

Witsawakorn, you obviously don't live in Thailand...

Unless you are a caveman in the western world, they do make every effort to prevent such accidents before they happen, here in Thailand they don't. Accidents are meant to happen in Thailand, its merely seen as bad luck and something that will inevitably happen to us. They dont know the meaning of preventing accidents before they happen.

Mods: sorry about the word "they", I dont mean to generalize. Normally I never respond to the "it happens all over the world" type of poster.

  7. Hi all, im looking to buy a new Sony laptop in Phuket, the last place I bought from was in Jungcylon but I believe this place is no longer. Does anyone know where they are located ?

Im looking for an official Sony retailer, not just any computer shop that happens to sell Sony laptops.

    Cheers

  8. Phuket will issue 2 year work permits but they don't issue them so easily. I was told a couple of months before my previous WP expired that 100% my next extension would be for 2 years, they only extended it for 3 months. They said it was because my yearly balance sheet was late.

I don't believe they are reluctant at issuing a longer term simply because they are intending to increase the fees, I believe it comes down to discretion and how up to date your company/employers paperwork is.

  9. You don't need to learn Thai to move to (and live in) Thailand, anyone who tells you this is talking through their rear ends ! You can live here without learning Thai, as 95% of expats do.

As for ED visas forget it, do visa runs and enjoy what the rest of South East Asia has to offer. Later if you decide you want to settle then you can learn.

I wonder how many TV members sent the OP a PM offering to help them get an ED visa ?..

  10. Me too, have also been receiving several spam emails from them. Seems that they are just scraping email addresses and spamming. Very poor and very unprofessional.

Have already reported their domain name as a spam domain. If you receive any emails from them don't simply delete it, better to report it and they will get blacklisted.

  11. The plug ins which are shaped like a dome with a flat bottom, green base (I think they have pink ones too). You screw the bottle into the dome which has an element that heats up the liquid in the bottle. These are the ONLY plug ins that work, get a couple of these in your house and you will never see a mossy again !

Its a Thai brand and does not have English writing on the label, so not easy to spot. Carrefour and Tesco sell them. Not something you can pick up from 7-11.
