Best way to get a deal is contact the hotel and ask for a discount. I have tried it and I received a 50% discount, it was in SEA but wasnt in Thailand but in a similar circumstance.

Begs the question "Why would you want to bring a large amount of money into Thailand"? If it is to buy something, condo etc then a bank cheque would be better made out to the company you are buying from.

Sounds like her attitude is not because she hates everything foreign but because she cant get a foreign boy friend / husband. You should feel sorry for her she is suffering from her inability to achieve what she really wants

Every 6 and 9 weeks I travel through the airport and have not had a problem with the taxis at the airport. If you go to the official taxi stand there is a clear message that the fare is what is on the meter plus 50 Baht.

At DM there was a lot of scamming going on but at the new airport I have only had it once many years ago. Driver told me the meter was not working so I pointed out to him, in Thai, the price is the fare on the meter + 50 Baht.

Funny how the meter fixed itself
