Completely different kettle of fish. No virus is going to live two hours on a stainless steel railing baking in the Thai sun in April.
A virus is in no way alive - apparently this virus is around 30,000 base pairs of RNA .
it hijacks cells - by inserting this genetic information- and therefore instructing the cell to produce more copies .
it may be the case that high temperatures break the bonds between the nucleotides - therefore making the virus unable to invade living cells - such as lung epithelia.
let’s hope so

Well you heard it here first - Bitcoin ( sinking fast) has been replaced by toilet rolls - maybe the world should wake up to those hoses found in many Thai houses .
The situation has gone mad - how many millions die each year from malaria? Nobody cares - it’s Africa and poor countries.
The markets have gone mad - well they were a trifle over inflated- thank Heavens I only ever relied on cash . It’s because this is having an impact on the rich countries.
Personally - it’s the revenge of the planet and Pangolins.
They are an endangered species - yet the Chinese kill millions of them- the only mammal with scales - just to make soup/ useless traditional medicine .
They feel pain and stress.
The chances of catching this virus are minute here in Thailand .
If the result of this - is that the Chinese stop slaughtering the world’s wide life - millions of sharks, tokays , pangolins etc
Good
A fact of life - we all die .

Maybe it’s all to do with the revenge of the pangolins- the only scaled mammal on the planet.
Even though these are a protected species- the Chinese have turned millions of these wonderful creatures into soup- supposed traditional medicine that does absolutely nothing .its pay back time.
Personally I just carry on as normal - the whole world in total panic about a minor ailment

Covid19 is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS.
There are reports of a kid getting it from a autographed photo of a athlete who tested positive.
All the politicians who acted like nothing was wrong or met unknowingly with Covid19 positive people are all dropping like flies now all over the world.
Seattle hospitals saying they are one day away from becoming Italy. Totally overwhelmed.
those of you who are still out in the bars with another person sitting right next to you are helping spread this <deleted>.
Traveling right now unnecessary should be a criminal offense.
i could not imagine being in Crazy House Bangkok during this time. the number of south Koreans, Japanese, AU, UK, EU, USA types in there is off the scale.
Where or what is crazy house Bangkok - a gay bath house?

Don’t write off the Thai people and the country because of the rants of one minister- if your post is true of course.

Yep, I've observed the same. Also, restaurant workers go to the loo and don't wash their hands afterwards.
I have never experienced that - but then I don’t share lavatories with restaurant workers .
So my American friend - a survey discovered that 69% of men in America do not wash their hands!
I have always found that Thai people take care of their cleanliness- even if you staying with some friends / family in the poorest areas ( no wonderful power showers there ) - they may have several sloshes with a large plastic cup. - even though they do not live in a mansion - things are kept clean and swept .its just the same - knocking Thai people - as the minister is knocking the farangs .

the guy is an uneducated tool for sure but for me what is striking is that this same scene is being played out in the west (no, not officially) with the Asians being the boogieman, just goes to show that when the s*** hits the fan across humanity many degrade to subhuman..
Good point- there have been many cases of SE Asians being abused or even beaten up back in Europe.
However not being abused by Government ministers ! -

How many 100's of people were hit by asteroids last year?
The 59 confirmed infected probably disagree with you.
Well NASA calculates 1 in 32000 - I never said it was it was going to do you any harm.
The planet is bombarded with shooting stars etc - so star dust .

This American agrees with your entire post. Wish they'd all go back to twitter.
Thank you.
Personally I love those guys from America- friendly, generous and hospitable.
But number 1 in conspiracy theories.
30% of millennials believe the world is flat - of course.
40% believe the government is withholding info about aliens - let’s not talk about abductions and anal probing!
6% - fake moon landingslots more theories - 9/11 , JFK, Obama etc
In this country of 69 million we have 60 cases - I would be concerned in Italy or Iran - here absolutely not .
Thanks for you support - people get real .

You post here based upon what, your hunch? An inate belief that Thai people live to deceive you?
You make a guess, and therefore it must be true?
What I have seen of Thai, is that they are being very conscious of this, with gel for hands everywhere I go, and symptom testing.
Not much else to do beyond that, beyond making people aware.
I have no fear of this.
I too have no fear of this - went to a training seminar in Chang Mai - 400 people week before last .
Did I worry one bit - of course not.
TV just seems at the moment to be full of the tin foil hat citizens - mostly from the USA .
There is little more chance of catching the virus in this country than being hit by an asteroid.
Be real people

Beach vendors of Jomtien may be fine but the bars of around Soi 2 Soi 3 Soi 6 Soi 7 and Soi 8 are utterly deserted
Have never see anything like it.
I'd estimate that Soi 8 at 11pm last night had no more than 10 guys the entire length of the soi. Ghost areas
Maybe the demographic has changed - the old days when you boarded the plane to Bangkok and the queue was full of single dodgy guys looking for cheap sex has disappeared.
The bar scene is dying - the younger woke millennial generation will have nothing to do with prostitution
About time .

Why this moron tried to flee the scene? Did he not have the 500 THB to buy him out of any trouble? Or did he just want to avoid a wai to the vicitms?
You honestly think that 500 baht would buy him out of trouble - he injured two policemen and the granny .
No of course not - slightly crass post .

It’s all part and parcel of living in the tropics - the occasional snake - I have a family of Tokays , loads of birds , bugs etc.
These animals have been around for perhaps 100 million years -because we have destroyed their habitats- they have adapted to urban living - eating bugs attracted by lighting .
Do they do you any harm?
I am not some crazy eco warrior - but by choice will not kill anything - don’t use chemicals in the garden - enjoy the produce I grow .
Leave them be - any just enjoy the company of these small animals - they have been here for a long time .

My experience has been that they do very little discounting here. Not like in the US, where you can dictate terms on a new car.
That will change soon. Consumer spending is down and discounting will be coming soon to these arrogant car dealerships.
Fortunately we do live the US - so a comparison is not terribly relevant - ‘arrogant’ ?
To the OP- I really don’t think you will get much of a discount - I bought two CHRs from Toyota ( brilliant cars!) - got a 10000 baht discount .
They threw in some accessories, glass coating and free insurance- 1st class insurance probably worth 25,000 per car.
The dealers are all corporate- they don’t have the authority to offer discounts unless part of a countrywide promotion.
Previously had a city - and found the servicing and customer service at Na Jomtien Honda to be excellent .

For scamming jet ski operators, zero sympathy.
For taxi drivers not using the meter, zero sympathy.
For cashiers padding out bar bills, zero sympathy.
For bar security who who threaten violence over padded bar bills, zero sympathy.
For the places that have dual pricing structure, zero sympathy.
For those in the markets throwing a crazy price at me because I am a farang, zero sympathy.
For just about every other local, I wish them well, as we head into the Pattaya Financial Crisis. (PFC)
Of course the obvious response is why on earth do you live here.
Maybe you don’t?
I stick with my post - I allege that in the last couple of years the members of this forum have become really quite unpleasant.
its a trend in the so- called social media

I’m not sure what has happened to Thai Visa / Nation these days.
A story about people loosing their livelihoods- many working these boats will be on a pretty minimum wage- supporting their families.
Yet reading through the posts- it seems that a huge number of parties are being organised in Nakhon Nowhere - the scammers etc deserve it.
( of course as usual the Pattaya bashes have turned up in droves)
Pattaya is a disorganised , corrupt, dirty sea side resort - but for those who do not know this city - it’s an OK place to live .
Last night - went out for an amazing dinner- tiny restaurant- over 100 different gins to sample , great food, wine etc - next to a beer bar- brilliant .
So just spare a thought for the local people - who not through their own fault are going to find life difficult with this virus spreading throughout SE Asia and beyond.

What's an ATV?
Actually was thinking the same thing - maybe I’m just too ancient and old fashioned and sometimes find all the abbreviations a bit tricky - just having a small glass of B&B on ice - that’s an abbreviation I know well.

I have mentioned before- if you are doing a retirement extension OA ( (and having been here for a few years ) at Jomtien- there is no mention of requiring health insurance. Hopefully that will continue.

Grab is very good - you can order a 7 seater - so extra room for your Dad - on the APP avoid grab car - go for taxi - my experience- ordering two or three times a week - the drivers are friendly and will really help ( it’s the Thai way ) .
Have a fab holiday with your Dad .
All the best

Gosh is 800000 an investment- it’s similar to those posters - a condominium for investment ( it’s actually somewhere to live? )
I think all these posts are from our American friends - who of course seem to think the world is one giant investment market.
You want to live in Thailand- put the money in the bank - not very easy to comprehend.

It’s a huge area - the rumour is that it is going a massive development and Siam Paragon is being mentioned - a very upmarket mall.
Apart from the traffic - will give the area a boost .
-
Weird
if you have been here a while on “retirement visa” OA - the Jomtien/ Chonburi office makes no mention whatsoever of requiring insurance- let’s hope they keep it that way.

Would agree, but don’t forget a majority of TV members are American - they only eat garbonzos and chili dogs ( not to be confused with sausage dogs )
