  1. You are 100% correct and I apologise for confusing the dates of UN admission and the founding of the state. Nevertheless, I believe that Israel remains a terrorist state and is responsible for the unfathomable injustice to and misery of the Palestinian people.
  2. Israel rightly calling Hamas terrorists carries enough weight for them to feel justified in exterminating over 2 million civilians; half of them children. The Stern gang was mainstream enough for one of their leaders, Yitzhak Shamir, who personally approved the murder, to become Israeli PM.
  3. The murder of the UN mediator and giving his murderers their own state are rather significant "details". I'm sure there are many British Jews demanding to "stop the small boats".
  4. Bernadotte was murdered on 17th Sep 1948 and Israel was admitted to the UN on 11 May 1949 After the murder Lehi was disarmed but nobody was charged with the killing. Two Lehi members were charged with belonging to a terrorist organisation, found guilty and immediately released and pardoned. Nobody was arrested and jailed. Indeed,Yitzhak Shamir, one of the 3-man Lehi leadership which had approved the murder, became Israeli PM.
  5. THE UN welcomed Israel as a member 8 months after Israeli terrorists had murdered the UN mediator. Rewarding terrorists with their own state, i.e creating a terrorist state, has proven to be not a good policy.
  6. How sad that the Palestinians are terrorist animals and not civilised like the Israelis who bombed the King David Hotel, assassinated the UN mediator, carried out ethnic cleansing (Deir Yassin etc) and continue to expel Palestinians from their homes in the West Bank against UN resolutions. The state of Israel is the real terrorist.
  7. "they need to be wiped out completely". Because "final solutions" have been so successful e.g. the 1940s ?
  8. Day 1: Appoint a convicted heroin trafficker to his cabinet. Day 2: Vow to crackdown on corruption. Amazing Thailand, indeed !
  9. Just to illustrate how "haywire" Wise have become. Yesterday this transfer was paid into my Thai bank account. I have now received an email that this transfer will be paid into my Thai bank account tomorrow, 30 Aug. !! I have checked and the money for this transfer has been debited just once from my bank account. Should this money really turn up on my account, I will tomorrow be visiting my bank branch with a wry grin on my face ! (only kidding....I do not want to risk being blacklisted from the European banking system).
  10. I guess transferring with SEPA takes some time and then Wise transfers normally with the money arriving in Thailand a day or two later ? The beauty of Klarna was that the money arrived in Thailand instantly. Important to me is not the immediate transfer but the transparency: click, click money in Thailand. Now Klarna says "no can do", only for the money to be booked and my renewed payment to Wise being booked as a 2nd transfer.
  11. I have been happily using Wise for 2 years to send money to Thailand from my German bank account...euro to baht The money has usually arrived within seconds. But recently things have gone haywire with Wise. The problem seems to be with the Klarna method of paying Wise from my bank account which I have always used without difficulty. Now Klarna says Wise cannot receive money from my bank..DKB...So I transferred to Wise with a normal inter-bank transfer. Confirming receipt of my payment I could see from the time given that the payment was from the first, "not possible" attempt to use Klarna. The 2nd, inter-bank transfer has its own transaction number and is "awaiting payment". I have had no problem calling Wise, not that their friendly staff could really help.
  12. Main medical risk: Death Action to take: Make a will. Sorry about your cancer problems. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 20 years ago aged 55...PSA >40. Luckily I was living in a European 'nanny state' which paid probably more than a million euros to cure me. I would have been left to die in the Good Ol USA. Please PM me if you're interested in the details of my treatment (no operation). I guess your future health lies in the hands of your health insurance company. Sincere best wishes.
  13. If you enjoy good food you should add Austrian to your list. Chef on board and the best food (and coffee) in the sky.
  14. I was checked twice at a machine, about a minute each time; maybe to make a photo/digital image of the eye ? The third machine check took longer, about 3 minutes, and red vertical lines continually crossed from left to right. From your description, I suspect this was the ultrasound eye measuring. Thanks for your interest and be assured that "hi-tec" has reached even Kalasin !
  15. No idea ! I guess they have a choice of lenses......big or small, depending on the size of your eye ! What is important for me is that my eyesight has improved greatly.
  16. Isaan is better....or at least, cheaper ! Teerawat Hospital, Kalasin. Tel. 04381 1757, mobile 0638 728143 I had my cataract op on Christmas Day !. I went for a consultation but instead they kept me and carried out the op. A bit confusing; best to have a Thai speaker with you. The doctor himself speaks fluent English. THB 25,000 including an overnight stay for myself and my wife and a lunch and dinner box; bring your own if you want decent food. Yesterday my first post-op check-up...all OK, included in the fee. Consultation and op Saturdays only; call for an appointment (Thai speaker !). Good Luck !
  17. This thread should be renamed: Thailand Pass Is Up And Limping.
  18. If you think Feudalism is bad, try Neoliberalism. I left England 40 years ago to escape [deleted] Thatcher and haven't regretted that move for a single moment.
  19. I'm sure the Wise employee consulted with the appropriate department before sending her message.
  20. I thought this reply from Wise may be of interest. I had arranged tagging and had wanted to ensure that my correct Bangkok Bank account had been tagged. "The tag is not related to one account number but rather the route from one currency to THB currency. So as long as that particular banking partner is fully functioning, we will be sending out payments via them therefore transfers will show up as international transfers.I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions" In my case "the route from one currency to THB currency" is EUR to THB.
  21. Have a heart. The poor chap had been up half the night..................................................................... collecting brown envelopes.
  22. You don't know my wife ! See my last post: 1 hour ago in reply to Dick Z.
  23. Persuading my wife of anything would be even more difficult than finding an honest Thai politician, policeman or general ! ????
