  1. Hi. Has any one had any experience with transferring money from Bangkok bank to NZ? Will be going back soon for a few months and wondering just in case I have a Be1st credit card and internet banking. Cheers.
  2. Was just bar talk. Yes, they was probably away for more than a year and left unused. Thank you for your reply.
  3. Hi. I have heard lately of people having their bank accounts closed while out of Thailand. I originally came here on a retirement visa and have been with Bangkok bank for last ten years. Last couple of years left Thailand and GF used ATM just to pay rent, never a problem. Am leaving Thailand again soon but have now heard these rumors and am concerned, some say they lost their money when account was closed. Very grateful for any advice/info. Thank you.
  4. Was doing it mainly for the marriage visa but now thinking best to stick with retirement and save any future problems. Cheers.
  5. Thank you for the information. Looking at the site you directed me to I see that being married considerably lessens the amount of pension you receive. Am in the process of getting married in Thailand right now, may have to rethink. Any thoughts?
  6. Hi. I am hoping to find someone who has retired here from NZ, or who has knowledge of this, and can advise. I am seeing conflicting information online concerning the age pension, the only type which I will be receiving. At a glance I read that you can take your NZ age pension and live anywhere, but looking further into it, it says you can leave NZ for no longer than 26 weeks or pension will stop. I am a few years away yet from the required age and fulfill all the requirements, just cant seem to find any solid info concerning this. If the 26 weeks is correct are there any loopholes? Thank you.

    New laptop

Hi. I have recently returned to Chiang Mai and am looking for a new laptop. Have bought from Pantip before and was very happy with the product but now Pantip is dead. Can anyone recommend the best place now in CM with good selection and service for farang. Thank you.
  8. Hi guys. Wondering what happens if im married to a Thai and leave the country for over 1 year. What would be the procedure when returning after, say, two years? Is there any amount of time where the marriage isn't recognized at all? Thank you.
  9. Are you allowed to post links to other sites here? Just found something very interesting that helps with accommodation proof for tourist visa and wanted to share.
  10. Hi guys. I have previously received some good advice here concerning marriage visa but someone took over my post and is now too confusing, so starting new. So. I am looking at requirements for tourist visa from NZ and says that I need proof of accommodation. I will be staying at girlfriends house so please could you advise me on kind of proof needed. I do realize that this could easily be looked up but you guys have previously come up with better options and good advise which I wouldn't have found elsewhere so please forgive simple questions. Thank you very much.
  11. Am coming mid May. Reading agents email again she says best to get a 60 day tourist visa and extend that as we do not have a date set for marriage and at least 21 days is needed left on entry visa to convert. Have contacted them and told them your suggestion and if they agree. Cant see much difference and would be much easier. Is weekend now so wont hear until Monday. Will let you know what they say. Appreciate the advice, thank you.
