  1. Omg warp speed u are tempting me so much.. I have narrowed down my selection to a few makes, namely

The clk200(w208), clk240(w209), rx8 or even Honda prelude.

Only thing is the rx8 here are all imports and only god knows how the last owners trashed the car. Have driven one before for a short term and am very amazed by the performance of the rotary.

I dun suppose I will drive the car often though. Perhaps at night or the occasional trip up north to isaan

  2. ! I just lost a comprehensive post.

    Here goes again.

I like Rx8's but if you are not or don;t have a top mechanic or want to avoid a high maintenance car the 8 is not the choice here I'm reluctant to say. They are thoroughbred and finicky cars. I am looking to export some there as per an add I posted but they require a lot of maintenance and need to be "driven" which most are not, especially the automatics in order to clean out the engines well. The early models up to about 08 had multiple issues until the next gen came out. Our business model is to update those weaknesses and reintroduce the updated car, we do not intend to resell without that being done and have nothing to hide so will inform every customer of the upgrades and why they were needed.

The issues snowball into engine failures at very low mileages so there is a glut of nice bodied cars here that require expensive repairs in the case of an owner that relies on a mechanic, so they end up salvaged. We're acquiring some and refurbishing them mechanically for resale this also branches out into part supply, new and used and specialty performance products as well. We will specialize, I have 2 myself now, one is being converted into a race car and the other will soon be my daily driver. Check out this site and do some research before you make your decision we will be offering parts shipped world wide as well and that's a good source to have..

If you're not buying from us then be on your toes..

Looks like the mr-s is a safer buy? Coz it's a Toyota and definitely gonna be easier to run in bkk?

  3. how about considering the toyota gt-86? looks brilliant, i believe it drives brilliant too

Saw a Subaru BRZ, its sister car, in Tukcom multi story yesterday, all black. Looked really good and actually less ostentatious than I thought. Tempted....

Not sure about the GLA. There is a short review in What Car this month. I know the OP has a preference for the German brands. For me the Japanese build quality and give you more for your buck. I guess everyone has their own preference. If I really wanted a German car guess I would go for the BMWX3 but it is way over the budget being discussed

    the brz is sweet too.

however, i think the toyota will be easier to maintain and service in thailand.

  4. protons are crap cars!

    Can you elaborate please?

Clearly I wouldn't expect German build quality from a Malaysian car, but after viewing and trying the Chery yesterday, it would have to be spectacularly bad to shock me!

    the exora is only 1.6

have driven before for one day. Performance was horrible, even with 2 people.

safety wise, i wouldn't bet my money on a malaysian made car.

  5. how about the older mercedes benzes?

    the W124 and W202?

I believe the quality of these cars are still good?

have seen some around 300k? worth buy or I should just get a new Almera or Vios?

Here many Thais own there cars for 10 years, so is possible to buy very good cars with just one owner...

Myself like the W124 looks wise better, but these are 20 + years old, for 300k the W202 is one of the 1st of this shape again around 20 years old..

My problem is just as good you can get a Audi A6 2002/3 1 owner car for that price. likewise a Volvo S60 or 2001/2 S80

But there again you can get a 2008 model look-a-like Honda Accord ? http://www.taladrod.com/w20/Search/CarDet40.aspx?cib=1371451

As always it is up to you + what do you need to use the car for? myself would not buy a W124 or W202, but there again would also not buy a Almera or Vios

the hyundai sonata is a good work horse.

however, i think maintenance of a korean car in thailand might be a tad bit difficult?

Am still digging the older mercedes though... hehe

  6. Dear all,

I understand that both these 2 cars are imported directly into Thailand.

Does this mean that servicing, and repairs, if any, is gonna be a pain in the A$$?

I am really digging the new look MR-S and prices are quite attractive.

However, the rotary RX-8 has my heart beating as well.

Does anyone know which car is easier to maintain in 3 years and also has a better residual value?

Or does any bro have a better recommendation?

    Thanks!

  7. Dear All,

There is a difference in the finance interest between NEW and USED cars right now in Bangkok right?

I've seen Honda and Nissan having 0% interest.

What are the downpayments and interest rates like for used cars?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Toyota Hiace Commuter.

Have seen the new and used prices.

Anyone knows if there is any 0% interest promo with Toyota?

  8. Dear all,

please give some feedback regarding VW, Audi and Volvo in Thailand

Easy access to workshops as well as availability of parts and costs of repairs?

From where I come from, all 3 makes are very popular and there are many garages that can service as well as repair them

in BKKm do I only have a choice to go back to the agent to get them serviced?
