The sea at Phuket drops of very deep water quickly and there is a strong upwelling making it very dangerous for swimming during windy conditions. Its easy to get pulle dout to sea.

Thnaks for your replies. I could not renew online, so all I have is the first go on the Thai drivers license. If it was me renting the car, the "temproary doesnt jump off the page" and I would probably accept it. Having worked for many years in the supermarket business when younger dealing with credit cards etc. But it would be good to get a reply from an actual temp that did it. Something goes nutty with these people when they get into a vehicle. You have to come to the conclusion that many of the locals are very angry and/or not very nice people.

Commercially speaking, behind this is the Business owner who pushes these commercial drivers with Ya Ba to get the most crap delivered in the shortest amount of time. Yah, tourists are part of that crap. Its quite amazing to see the development of this technology to the point of one of the most bizarre displays of human insanity on the planet earth.

Could we teach that swimming lesson to more chinese Tourists?

Yah the planet & all this crazy technology is enough to warrant carrying pills with you to deal with it, especially in the hands of incompetent, know it all morons who could care less about your life.

This is a huge fear of mine too. I would go nuts being locked in an elevator at these temperatures and do anything to get out.

This really sucks, seems like there is nothing more important than the Japanese selling more <deleted> cars in this country. And no laws in the roads with the most drunk peole on earth flying around in an emphetaimne induced rage. The lady at the bike shop told me the drunk gal has to pay 20,000baht each and something about her insurance will pay 50,000. I couldn't get exactly what she was pointing out but it seemd to me that all anyone was concerned about was the money. Pay up and its over I guess.

The website rarely works, so that surely turns me off. Prices too high. There is a lot of dead weight laying around getting paid to do nothing by tax money. But as long as it is the Flag Carrier it will have to remain running and flying around the big boys for free. I bet 1/2 the pax on there are discount or free. Just bought a Daikin FTM 18000btu. Much quieter than the 7 yr old Samsung which made a lot of noise kicking on and off. Noticed the rubber floor mounts were brittle and hard. Fan on Daikin not "slient" like a Mitsubishi, but almost. Overall noise is 70% less. Someone is supposed to buy my Samsung for 6000 baht today, it works fine and put in a new capacitor a few months ago which I bought down near the moat for 300 baht. I have only had the Daikin in here for two weeks but will be intersting to compare bills.

Reason I didn't buy an inverter was cost, and I work in a high tech indusrtry here and don't want to deal with those who have to deal with these things when they break or dont perform properly.

Tough it out or leave. Nothing will change for the better with the worlds population increasing by the extreme magnitude it is doing. The planet is screwed.
