Dont worry JAF, you are just burning the bike in. Varnishes and oils will burn off all the hot bits.

The helmet can either be your best friend or your worst enemy. If it does not fit properly it will seem like some bizarre middle ages torture device right in the middle of a good ride. Best to try it on and leave it on for 30 minutes or so in the shop before buying it. So, I would not recommend buying one on line, unless they take 100% returns!

In my humble opinion there are two things a rider should never be stingy with, tires, because they are the only thing attaching you to the road and a helmet, because if you really need it, pray to god it is a good one!

I think before you go nickel and diming yourself to death you might want to consider a quick trip up to Bkk and go to the paddock or panda and get everything in one go. That way you can try it on and make sure it fits. While the Yamaha helmet might be ok I would still recommend a better one, HJC, Shoei, Arai. All available in bkk.
Flying up is dirt cheap these days.
Just my two bahts worth!

Anyone know who might sell used iPhone 4s?
Cheers

Yeah, I have been bitching about it to TV for a while and no joy.

Very cool. Remember to keep us updated on the bike and your impressions of it.
Last thing to say is please, please buy and wear a good helmet.

CB300 is the best bike for the buck if you just want to get used to it. Like another poster said you will tire of it quickly but it is a truly necessary step if you want to learn safely. Honestly, but a used one and avoid the depreciation as you will want to upgrade. Save your money for something REALLY cool!
-
Just saw an ad for a CB300 for 110,000 in the bikes for sale section. That would be an excellent starter bike.

You can get into some pretty nasty trouble on a 650 if you are light on experience. I would recommend the CB300 or the CB500. Very nice bikes and very forgiving. Easy to get serviced and under 160,000.

Definitely not walking distance...if you are carrying a pig! Otherwise it is. Head up beachroad past McDonalds and keep going until you cross a bridge over a small river. Turn left and head up that road about 200 meters. You should see a small sign on your right just before Kob restaurant with a pig on it, go in there.

The only time my Versys fairing doesn't emit some sort of rattle,or hum is when it is parked!
I use a cut up yellow kitchen sponge, cut up little pieces and jam them in until the rattling stops, repeat, ride, repeat, ride.........

Just hit the street bars between soi 4 and soi11. Pretty relaxed and they dont care if you are male or female. Play some bar games, have a drink or two then head back to the airport.
I would!

Not really, super easy bike to ride and not enough power to get in trouble. Get to shift and use the clutch so almost like real riding!
Big enough you can put saddlebags on it to do the shopping. I even know one guy who rode one all through Thailand, Laos and Cambodia! Easy to get serviced and repaired and dirt cheap to buy.
Best of luck!

If a scooter isn't your thing the a Honda 200 Phantom might do the trick.

You practice being a dick or does it come natural?

Been looking and when I ask if they use a heat gun they stare at me like I have two heads. Ok, getting some from eBay and will try it myself. Thank god for youtube!

Fake carbon fiber.
Classy.
My tank is scratched to hell.
I do not own a Premier League club so I am not rich enough to afford real carbon fibre.
I like the look.
Ok with you?
-
Hi folks, thinking of getting the tank on my Versys wrapped in vinyl carbon fibre and was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for an experienced shop that can do it in one piece with no cuts. I can remove the tank and mail it as I live on Samui so I will mail it anywhere if the shop is good.
Cheers

Boy, Dirtshop is a ways out! Worth it though, nice shop and the staff were great.
-
Hah! The little suckers went for it hard yesterday, i expect to hear wailing and funeral dirges from their evil little lair.
Victory is mine!

Cheers guys, I will be staying around soi 4, do you think it will be easier to get the BTS to Onnut then motorcyle taxi to the shop or just motorcycle taxi all the way?
Cheers

If it is a scooter just get one of the mesh covers they sell at Tesco. Will look ok and keep your butt cool!
