Yes, or at least it was the simplest way of isolating the solar equipment from the grid. I have not tested but I think the grid port doesn't get any power from the inverter during grid power cuts.

I basically run the whole house on a big UPS 🙂

When batteries are depletd and ther's not enough production or for some reason the demand exceed the production + batteries availability the inverter goes off and switcher automatically turn into grid, and when inverter provide again energy it will switch back autmatically?

There's a point here. Is not possible that it starts to loop like that: switch to grid because the load is too high, inverter recover a normal state because there's not load connected anymore, switch to inverter, but the load is too high, so inverter cut off again and switcher switch to grid and so on again and again in loop?

Deye inverters has what I consider to be the opposite setting, the zero-export power setting which  I haven't been able to notice any difference when changing the value. From the manual:

"Zero-export Power: for zero-export mode, it tells the grid output power. Recommend to set it as 20-100W to ensure the hybrid inverter won' t feed power to grid"

I did have a problem with ghost import though when previously running the inverter in on-grid mode, there was a continuous  import of 30-40 W with a few short daily peaks up to a few hundred watts.

This import was not needed, there was enough solar and battery power to account for the AC load.

These few daily import peaks always occurred at the same time as a PV current dip or AC load peak and were probably just inverter having difficulty in decision making. They were probably very short but SolarMan only has a resolution of 5 minutes so it is not possible to see their duration. Could be that it is a software bug and that I need to update my inverter..

Anyway, this ghost import added up to nearly 1 unit/day so that was also another reason for running off-grid with an ATS.

@lom on deye you moved al the house to the backup port because as I understood that's the only way to run deye offgrid, do you confirm?

My Guess is that you have something called Ghost Export and the Electronic meter is registering it.

You say, you don't export, but there is something called "Ghost Export". I have noticed that in our setup and on the day the meter reader comes we have a FAN running on a circuit that bypasses the solar and thus make the meter go forward ever so slowly, the rest of the house is "powered" by Solar.

I have ordered the automatic switch.

I will install it in a few days and set the inverter offgrid, so any ghost export is impossible since I won't be anymore grid tied.

  4. Good.
We have cctv and I said to my wife to never open to them if they ring the bell. If they see her outside the gate and ask I told to her to tell that the owner is not here. I think they should send a notice by post for this kind of things or at least leave something on the postbox. Untill I have something in writing I will ignore them.

  5. @Crossy

They wanted to do, but they didn't show any documents or identification even to confirm that they were really PEA inspectors, only violet shirts... They could be fraudster who knows.

I told to them that before to let them get inside my property I want to receive by post a written notice from PEA with the reason of inspection and in that case I will go to PEA office to take an appointment for the inspection.

They obviously were not happy, they took a photo of my door and went away.

I have an approved inverter. I don't export.

    Anyone else facing same issue?

  6. It happened to me as well. I called the Embassy they told me the hospital couldn't hold me. They had to let me go making me sign a declaration that I would have paid the bill as soon as possible, otherwise the embassy would had force the hospital to discharge me.

At the end the insurance paid but I had to do in a second stage a second operation for the cost of 36k euro and I had to pay in advance from my pocket.

In the accident the police said the fault was 50% me and the Thai car.

    That's my experience.

From that day since basically I lost forever my hip joint that has been replaced by a prosthesis, i bought a 2.7 ton suv and I use motorbike just for go at 7 back to my house, I also pay a first class insurance and a premium one for health coverage.

  7. I had only one time in Prachinburi a problem. They insisted I had exceeded the speed limit but it wasn't true.

They wanted something like 600 cash.

    Told them:

Please, give me the fine ticket I will pay later at the police station.

During a long negotiation the amount low down to 400, 300 200 and at the end they told me "please just the money for a coffee".

They literally used the word "please"

    It was ridiculous.

They requested me to get off the car and "speak with their boss".

I got off, closed safety the car, and repeated the same process to the boss.

    Politely and quietly but firmly.

    And they let me go.

    Lost 20 minutes.

From that day when I cross Prachinburi motorway I use the cruise control at 58km/h and I always record with the phone speed and road.

Furthermore I have in the blue book a letter written from my lawyer explaining that I can record everything with the phone and if I break some law they have to issue official ticket and my lawyer will pay for me in the appropriate manner.

I never had the opportunity to use it. (I hope it will never happen off course).

  8. My M-Pass stopped working about 4 months ago. I went to the Bank branch, they said they does not provide m-pass devices anymore.

I went on Chachoengsao service area for replacement, I've been told device it's not available for replacement.

I then called the 1586 number and they confirmed me that m-pass is not available for new issues or replacements at all anywhere in Thailand. There is no way to get it.

Anyone has some info about it? I still have some money topped up inside and I would like to understand if there is any chance to have a replacement or not.

I am already m-flow registered, but it's not working on motorway number 7

  9. However in Thai the Tax Id is not mandatory, even most Thai people do not have one.

In fact I request every year a tax residence ro22 certificate from Thai tax office that report my passport number instead of tax id and state that I am resident here.

I also go every year at foreign affair office (dfa), in order to stamp it, then translate and stamp again at embassy of my origin country.

    I do this every year.

International Bank compliance are aware of the fact that tax id in some country are not mandatory and usually there is a checkbox on the form the Bank provide that says something like "tax id is not required on my country of residence" or something like that.

Sometimes they do not have this checkbox . That's happened to me sometimes.

In that case I sent an Email with scan of tax residence from tax office (ro22), and stamp of foreign affair office (dfa) and my embassy, explaining on the email the fact that here tax ID is not mandatory and if they don't believe me they can check on internet or even with their legal department.

After that, never had problems, I always passed every Banking application.

Interesting.  Yesterday I was in the Starbucks at The Avenue and they seemed cool with me being sans mask.  Maybe individual branches can make their own policies.

    I was at little walk.

I forgot to mention another shop.

Mr DIY on soi Siam Pattaya yesterday. They requested to me and my wife to wear mask speaking in Thai language. My wife did it.

I didn't and I carried on with my shopping without caring of them as if I didn't understand their request.

They didn't complain further, maybe they did not want to argue with a farang in English.

Anyway staying on their policy I should have to wear it.

It seems to be down to the individual business.  Here in Rayong, it doesn't seem mandatory to wear a mask in shopping malls and supermarkets.  My wife and I shopped mask-less two days ago, and yesterday in Pattaya, there was no requirement to wear a mask at the till in Starbucks or in the malls.

I guess for the foreseeable future us non-mask wearers will have to carry one in our back pocket just in case!

Starbuck Pattaya. Yesterday. Me and my wife without mask. They rejected us.  They said: the company require mask.

Other places I mentioned (except taxis and airport) are all in Pattaya.

Even at small Tesco lotus Monday they required mask. Will try again today.

Now the only shop where for sure they do not ask to wear mask is 7. I have personal experiences and a lot of feedback from others, about 7.

  12. Immigration. Mask mandatory.

    Airport. Mask mandatory.

Most taxi drivers require you to wear mask or do not accept you on the car.

Starbuck today. They requested me to wear mask while on the till.

Cafe Amazon there is a notice that explain that mask is still mandatory on the shop.

    Sizzler. Mask mandatory.

Looks like that untill they don't make a more clear statement with exactly explanation on where it is mandatory and where not, 70% of places will require mask as before.

  14. Just went to a small Tesco without mask, my wife was wearing one.

They complained with my wife about me. They didn't try to talk with me.

They said to her that they're waiting instructions from Manager.

From now on. Any shop that request me to wear one, I just walk away and they lose a customer. I hope to find some shop with more reasonable rules.

I don't think it is on their interest to lose customers.

    Let's see what happen.

If someone can share original Thai Gazette in Thai language I would appreciate.

    Thanks.
