  1. YES! But they consider them very nice, lovely, calm, quiet, polite people -- who have political "influence"!
  2. "There will be a full investigation with justice to all sides amid the highest standards of transparency that the force can muster."????????????
  3. Mmmm. My experience of drinking till 4am in the 'old days' were a few sad old men with nowhere better to go and small groups of young idiot men starting their holidays getting stupid with alcohol. Well, that was the case in my bar -- of course, the young men paid well but the older ones (who'd been drinking since opening time) nursed their drinks! Bloody boring nights!
  4. It's a strange culture where all the police that were involved in this case agree to have their photos taken! It's all a bit juvenile by whoever arranges these photo sessions after an arrest and demeans the authority of the police -- if that is possible!
  5. Another new Covid subvariant has been detected and is now spreading rapidly around the world - already making up a quarter of new cases in some countries. BF. 7, also known as BA. 5.2.1.7, is now making up 25% of cases in Belgium and 10% of cases in Denmark, France and Germany. Dr Stuart Ray, vice chair of medicine for data integrity and analytics at Johns Hopkins’ Department of Medicine, told Fortune : "The same growth advantage in multiple countries makes it reasonable to think that BF. 7 is gaining a foothold." He added: "It’s been a while since we went from Alpha to Beta to Gamma to Delta, then to Omicron. We may be complacent. This may be feeding into the notion that this is behind us.” Kevin Kavanagh, president and founder of the patient advocacy organization Health Watch USA told Fierce Health Care: "It is anyone’s guess if BF.7 rapid growth will continue." Erin Prater, writing for Fortune, said: "Scientists are taking notice of BF.7 because it’s making headway in an increasingly crowded field of Omicron subvariants."
  6. Why doesn't an investigative reporter be tasked to interview 'whoever' at TAT and ask on what basis they made their prediction? Statistically, TAT must (surely) be working with a time-tested formula for predicting: the financial effect Covid has had on foreign economies; the financial effect Covid has had on foreigners; the situation in the Ukraine and the resultant economic spread to foreign countries; high cost of air travel; the cost of Covid insurance; [one can accept that TAT know this will be abolished on a near-future date] entry restrictions; [one can accept that TAT know these will be abolished on a near-future date] uncertainty on Thai tourist venues being open. Just wondering how they make their prediction! [I wonder who, in Government, believe this nonsense, who it is aimed at, and allow TAT to be run by incompetents!]
  7. How can the RTP, which is riddled with corruption of varying degrees, hope to control international gangs of crime operating in the Kingdom? Too many high-ranking officers will be receptive to bribes -- even many of the the low-ranking police take bribes! Taking bribes is a way of life for Thai officials. Those at the top are far too vulnerable to weed out the lower ranks. What a paradox!
  8. a door-to-door vaccination campaign for senior citizens and at-risk groups ahead of the Songkran holidays to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19. A bit late for any vaccinations to become effective ahead of Songkran now! They should have considered this much earlier!
  9. I don't quite understand this. So 2 million Thais have not been vaccinated -- out of choice. Are the Tourists being made to run through hoops to protect the them being infected by the '2 million' -- or are Tourists being made to run through hoops to protect the '2 million'?
  10. I started to read this thinking it would expand and give details of his 'plan' of how he will do this! In all the years I've been living and travelling in Thailand it never fails to amaze me of the low intellect of Thai Government officials! They make these statements to the media thinking that the Thai populace is as stupid as they are! (Perhaps they are right!)
  11. Well, they did list the countries in order of 'quality': 1. Arabs, 2. Indians . . . and 3. The Aussies! ????????????
