  1. I used to joke that an Australian bar crawl was - go to first bar and have a couple of drinks, go to second bar and be refused entry because intoxicated.
  2. If anyone else is affected, KTB no longer accepts purchases from Amazon Prime. Big problem for me as I buy a lot of kindle books. Reason given is fraud.
  3. The UK press is saying "Don't go to Thailand the bars are closed." So good luck with the "reopening".
  4. At the risk ofpointing out the bleedin' obvious, tourists come and they go. The same amount could be raised by increasing the departure tax instead. Too simple?
  5. I like to stay positive. We will have natural herd immunity before everyone gets vaccinated. Get sick, get better, don't get sick again.
  6. My point was I can the Thai government being reluctant to agree to those conditions. Albania was sufficiently hacked off to leak it in defiance of the confidentiality clauses.
  7. The contract was with Albania. Google "pfizer contract albania" look for the article by Opindia.com.
  8. If anyone is following the news, details of the Phizer contract have leaked out and the terms are outrageous. I'm not surprised the Thai government is reluctant to sign up. I thnk commenters here should give the government a bit more credit. It isn't about brown envelopes after all.
  9. Once people are in lockdown they stay there untill the risk has passed. We're talking months, not weeks. Actually I expect the government to find some excuse to lift the lockdown before then whether the figures improve or not. It's that or give people money.
  10. Because for reasons unknown Thailand and its neighbors had a high natural resistance to the original strain. The government got over confident thinking they could ride it out and then delta happened.
  11. I had the same problem when my wires were mistakenly removed from the outside meter and then put back wrong. You need to find someone to swap the wires at the meter for you. Five minute job if you have a ladder and know what you're doing. Incidentally, the PEA is only responsible for getting the supply to the meter, after that it's your problem. If there are several meters on the pole and you are not sure which one is yours, there should be a serial number on the meter and the bill.
  12. Once you have locked people down they have to stay locked down untill the virus abates. That could be months. The people in the deep red zones are under house arrest untill then?
  13. The World Health Organization, after looking at data from around the world, had concluded lockdowns are ineffective, so you could open up now for all the difference it would make. The Thai government is simply copying what was done in the west, without realizing that that was political, not medical.
  14. So the boffins think three months of lockdown will bring the virus under control? I have an alternative suggestion. Covid is a seasonal virus and will decline at the end of the wet season. When is the end of the wet season? Three months? Oh, jolly clever boffins, jolly clever indeed.
