  1. You'd think with almost 30,000 idiots kill themselves on the roads each year, surely they'd have run out of idiots by now.

Im not sure why people like you should even have an opinion. 30,000 deaths and you have to be insulting. Dont think it is something to insulting about. Those deaths were someones daughter, son, mother, father. Did it effect you? Emmmm NO. You have proved to be the only idiot with that stupid comment

I think its quite a valid comment...

Thats a lot of people that my family, driving lawfully, respectfully on the road dont have to worry about

So why would you assume that all those that died were idiots. How many died through no fault of there own. The victim of some drunk driver for example.

  3. I have to agree with him. Why Thai women dye their hair to look like stupid farlang women that have been doing the bottle blond since time began.

I am lucky , my Thai girlfriend has beautiful long black hair and I love her Thai nose. I hope she never wants to change to be a stupid farang woman.

Although I would not have used the word stupid to describe Farrang women as there anything but. I do agree with you on the basis that the reason why many guys are here (and some women also) is there love for there wife or partner and exactly how they look with beautiful black hair and why Thai women ( and some men who dye there hair blond) would want to like look like a Farrang is beyond me. Come on we love you the way you are and nothing in my mind is a bigger turn off than a Thai with white skin and brown or blonde hair.

  4. I have never posted anything I would consider to be anti Thai or Thai bashing as some call it but I agree with many posters here that driving standards here are terrible. Everyday I witness bike riders driving the wrong way down the road or pull out and never look to see if anything is coming. Only two days ago a young man died right in front of our house. He was drunk driving at speed and a car doing a u-turn ploughed in to him. The white chalk lines on the road a reminder every day since that a young man died. The driver we believe is his second accident where someone died. I have adjusted my driving accordingly to allow for people coming down the road the wrong way and always slow near a juction in case some bike or car pulls out without even looking. Anyone who has seen the Thai driving test will know it is utterly sub standard. Maybe getting drivers on the road and selling more cars is a priority over safety. My wife has passed the UK and Thai test but will avoid where possible driving in Thailand. Until tests are improved then nothing will change. Whilst I despise the over zealous Traffic Police in the West the Police here are the opposite. A Police car driving down the road while a bike rider coming in the wrong direction and then ignored is why so many die on the roads here. And it always seams to be someone elses fault when an accident happens. My wife even once told me that if I am ever involved in an accident then it will be my fault because I am Farrang and using Thai logic if I wasnt in Thailand the accident would not have happened. I now have a HD camera in the car that records eveything as evidence.

Totally naive assessment of the issues
Thats all youve got. Ive lived here 8 years and that is my experience. Am sure many have witnessed the same.Would you like to expand on your point or are you just another TV troll?

  6. I had a question, it might have already been answered

The Elite Visa Staff tell me

    1. New people to the program do not have to report every 90 days, just once a year if they do not leave the country

    2. It is the people that got the Elite Visa in the past that still need to do 90 day reporting

    Is this how it works?

90 day reporting isnt a deal breaker for me, its juts more of a minor annoyance when one has to do it:) but was curious on those that are using this service on how it works

You get a 1 year stamp every time you enter the country but you still have to report every 90 days.

Every foreigner in Thailand needs to do the 90 day report, it's the law.

It's worth noting that the 90 day report is a very quick in and out type of procedure, it's quicker than an extension. This is if you go to immigration and do it yourself.

I got my visa in June 2014 and I've done the 90 days reports twice since then, the next one is due in March.

In June 2015 assuming I've been here for a full year without leaving I'll need to get a 1 year extension for 1900 Baht as well as the usual free 90 day report.

Its odd I went back to the Elite Visa People and asked them again

I said I am not talking about the 90 day visa extension but the 90 report for checking in your address... They responded with I do not have to go to do the 90 day reporting for address as they would take care of that for me

only if i stay for the year will I have to do it...

What they are saying is the 90 day reports have to be done. This is the case for all visa types if you are staying in the Kingdom longer than 90 days. What they mean is they will do the 90 day report for you. But this is only available if you live in BKK and you would have to drop your paasport off at there office and pick it up a few days later. 90 day reports really are no problem. Im in and out in less than 2 minutes. If you stay for a year then you have to get the 1900 bht extention. Lost in translation somewhere me thinks.

  7. A lot of the posts about the Elite visa on TV are censored or removed. Recommend googling for the Reddit discussion for the balanced view.

There removed because they contain information that goes off topic or are not even factual. Sure go to reddit for an inballanced view. Plenty of long term PE visa holders here who post the facts. And plenty here who took up the option to have an easy stay visa option that does not cost the earth.

  8. By sanctions the US mean they were funding there enemy all along. Much like the great leader being educated in Switzerland or his cousins recent trip to France for a hospital visit. The BBC last week showed a programme on a university in NK being funded by the UK and US which included student exchanges between those countries. I find it amazing that on one hand they rightly condone NK and its ideology whilst funding them with the other. Simply crazy.

There is a difference between rejecting an evil government and still wanting to help the people.

So you think one penny of aid goes to the people. Utter rubbish. The US military industrial complex needs enemies. End off.

Did you read your own post about the US and UK providing funding for a NK university and promoting student exchanges? Were those students from the "military industrial complex" only? (Cough, cough.)

Those students were interviewed by the BBC reporter. It was clear that they were brainwashed and only had bad things to say about there time in the US. These western educated students will go on to serve the regime in NK not bring some western style revolution. What did the Western Education the great leader go on to achieve. You could say an even more dangerous now educated leader not one won over by the his western education.

  11. Confuzion Bar was closed today.. Despite the recent post it was now open in the daytime midweek.

Yes, "dashed pore show" as Fredo might say. I was caught out the same day at 11.05 a.m. being confronted by a cleaning lady who indicated I was down for nowt. Feeling a bit miffed I gave her a bit of the culed lip as I had been looking forward to a morning coffee outside overlooking the park while I did the easy Monday Sudoku. Meant to post on here to warn you but thought you weren't due till late January and I have been away for a few days. Don't know what the score is, but am having a few weeks off the ale anyway.
Thanks. Iam down in NS most weeks so as I was passing thought id give it a try again. Im still down late Jan for 90 day anyway and will try again. Mercy Coffee on the other side of the lake looks good if you fancy a coffee by the lake. Past the walk on the left. Sign outside so cant miss it. :)
  12. If you're under 45 with no job/wife and want to hang-out in Thailand visiting temples and hill tribe peoples I agree. Just don't flog how great the other pretty much useless bennies are. For all that other stuff, it's probably cheaper to just buy what you want/need ala carte.

I am under 45 with no job but do have a lovely wife. I do visit temples. Im spiritual like that. I would never make anyone feel useless. You cant make someone feel what they already are. I love the freedom TE gives me without the usual hassles, as many post daily on here with other visas, and think its a price worth paying to stay in a country I love. The price afterall to stay in my home country far exceed what the TE visa costs. My home country is not what it was and fell out of love with it many years ago. Thailand makes me feel welcome and feel blessed to be here. My wife always jokes I must have been in Thai in my last life. That beside it seams not one of the ditractors of the TE scheme has come up with one reasonble or even accurate reason not to have one if you have the funds. Thanks Mr OMGIminPattaya. OMG Thank God im not if the expats that live there are as bitter as yourself. Good luck and wish you well. smile.png

So since you're married, what are the advantages of a 500.000 Baht TE visa over a 1900 Baht marriage visa?

Don't tell us it's the sitting on the golf cart.

Because I can. Its called freedom of choice. Is that OK with you? Nope dont play golf. Why jump through hoops when you can walk in and out of CW in 10 minutes with a multi entry visa. Well worth every penny. :)

  13. For Members using the Airport for the first time using their TE Card here is the Premium Lane. smile.png

I'm sorry to inform you but you're really not that premium or privileged or whatever you feel when you look at your card; anyone flying business class gets to use this lane. I assume all you privileged people fly business or first class on your travels already so this membership benefit seems superfluous. Of course, they do have the carts to take your lazy butts directly to the lounge or gate. Maybe that's worth 500k or 2M baht.
The TE visa worth the price alone. All the the other perks just a bonus. No visa hassles for 5 or 20 years? Priceless. smile.png Love Thailand.

  15. Anthony 5...i understand your passion to discredit this program if you invested and lost money it would might break your piggy bank but for most of us I don't think it would damage our financial future here in Thailand.

He is just articulating what is the past experience of the elite program, which to put it mildly was a diasaster.

Also don't bring in the argument of can't afford it..or are jealous...some on here pay more than that for our children's international school fees each year..

The program has discredited itself in the pass..

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole..( experience of business , rule changes at a whim, ) etc..

It's an alternative..but doesn't justify all these " love in" posts on a couple of threads on here..

Although it went through difficulties because in my opinion it was maybe priced to cheaply I have to ask you "was one visa cancelled"? If you are honest or know, then that would be a resounding no. Nothing to do with a love in. Many on here have already posted and some are original members from when the scheme first started, all positive from what I have read with one exception who actually complained he spent only 10 minutes to pick his visa up instead of the usual endless hours in CW. Some are hard to please. ;)
  16. Some info about the 90 days report for Thailand Elite members in Bangkok.

I am a member since 11 years... but I never made a 90 days report because I travel quite much.

I was interested to know how it really works, so, I delayed at trip I had to do this month, in order to reach 90 days, and make the report through Thailand Elite.

The procedure is as simple as it was explained before.

    - Bring your passport to the Thailand Elite offices on Sathorn road on Tuesday.

    - Give your passport and the completed TM.47 form at the counter.

    - They do the report for you on Wednesday. You can pick up your passport on Thursday.

    - You don't have to bring your passport and the form by yourself. You can send your driver or anyone else with it.

If someone else will picks up your passport after the 90 days report, just inform them of the name of that person.

    - If you are worried that the police checks you during the 90 days report process, Thailand Elite advises you to carry a copy of your passport, with a copy of the stamp and departure card, and your Thailand Elite card.

If needed, the police can call the call center to confirm that your passport is with them for the 90 days report.

There is unconfirmed news that in the future the Thailand Elite members may not have to do the 90 days report anymore. However, this depends on a signature from the concerned ministry. So, be patient, at the moment the 90 days report is still to be done.

Thanks for the update Gerry. Very interesting. Keep us posted. :)

  17. I was musing to myself this morning as I sat outside drinking coffee just before 6am in the freezing weather 66f 18c today EEEEEEK, how lovely it was to be here at festive time.

No crazy shopping paying double the price for veg +++, getting presents, putting up decorations, having to walk around freezing my Butt orf saying merry Christmas to every bugger most you don't know anyway.

Then after the festive dinner of Dry Old Bird 'Turkey' settling down to watch yet another rerun of the Sound of Music or the Great Escape.

This is a big thank you to all that have allowed me to be here, maybe there is a Buddha well for me there is. Even Mrs H/M seems to not look that bad. Na Just guesting on that one.

I do hope that all you Farangs have the same thought's, what ever your problems here it would be a dam sight worse back where you came from.

Wishing you all a very happy time over the coming few days.

    The Happy Moaner.

    Fred.

I second that Fred. I hate this time of year back home. Im fact its not home to me anymore, Thailand is and feel very blessed to be here. A Merry Christmas to you and Yours. smile.png

I agree with you Bim. In fact apart from growing up I have spent more time out of the UK than living there and a long time living east of Suez. I don't like the cold any more. It was 16C outside the house at 05.30 this morning and according to the Thai Met office their KPP weather station recorded 13.7C as the low temp for yesterday.

January is generally colder than December.

Yep I was up at 6 this morning and it was so cold. Aclimitised to the warmer weather me thinks. I dare not post that on Facebook or my family and friends will surely think im taking the piss. ;)

  18. Some big girders on the central bridge over the river today, just waiting for lads to lift them off and figure out where they go next!

Makro was disaster, got the turkey but when I asked them to cut in half for me, they looked at each other and giggled, then played the ace card which will take ASEAN by storm and propel them to the top of the table............"no can do!" They will find that in ASEAN those that "can do" wins and its back to the farm you my lad! Give us back the trucks and houses, into the rice field again, even though the streets of N/S are paved with gold the wind of change is blowing again.

Meanwhile more success on the railway front as the HST set is now fully up speed and parked in platform 1 whilst out comes "United States Lines" and runs perfectly today after thr service of the last few days, wonderful news and no de.reailments, no late runners either!

Hey Nong, "no can do" They probably thought you only wanted to buy half a turkey!!!

It once happened to me there when I asked them to cut a leg of lamb in half until I explained that I wanted to buy the two halves!!!

I let the wife conduct the arranges with the child on the eighing machine so she knew we would have 2 halves, but obviously too much for him so early in the day.

As is always the case you find out things after the event. The manageress at Makro speaks good English and next time if I get a problem I will ask to speak with her, I understand that she has a "can do" approach.

Tesco in The Walk did not even have a chicken let alone a Turkey, why anyone would bother to there or the Walk is a mystery to my, Jeffers is good for Thai and non Thai food, but not worth the effort just to eat and BIG C 1 is now getting a lot smarter in response, although they only have ducks, well quack quack!

Makro had butterball turkeys yesterday. The bigger tesco (not the walk) had all new lines in the freezer. New Zealand lamb, Rib eye and tbone steaks. Much better choice than last year. :)
