  1. Most Thais are taught by their parents to dislike and mistrust foreigners from an early age. How does one go from this mentality to one of genuine welcoming warmth without the focus just being on the wallet? If tourists could understand what Thais are saying about them behind their backs, no-one would ever come here.

What utter BS. If thats how you feel what are you doing here. Not my experience of the Thai people at all. They more than welcome me as family. GO HOME if u dont like it here
  2. Liverpool same day actualy 10 minutes. Turn up in person. All but tourist visas are done through London

If i could i would but i'm working 6 nights a week at the moment, with my only day (night) off being Sundays right up until i fly out. I don't live anywhere near the Embassy or Consulates.

So can you confirm that i could still go through Hull? Sure i read that Hull were only sending them on to London thereby increasing the turnaround time?

I got my last 3 entry tourist visa in Feb this year from Liverpool. All tourist visas are done at the consulates. All other visas except Elite visa is sent to London. They send ur passport back to you via special next day delivery so should be OK to apply in Hull. Give them a call and ask. There OK to deal with.

The consulates are no longer allowed to issue visas by post. All postal visas are issued by the Embassy in London. From Liverpool consulate's own website:

With effect from 15 January 2014, all postal applications for visas to enter Thailand will be processed only at the Royal Thai Embassy, London.

All visa applications submitted by post must be sent to:

    Consulate Section (Visa by Post),

    Royal Thai Embassy,

    PO Box 55552,

    London SW7 9DB

Well I didnt know that. I did mine in person so maybe why.

  4. I need some help on a topic am sure has been covered before so apologise if that's the case. I have my son come stay with me on his first visit to Thailand on a 30 day ex stamp. He loves it so much he wants to stay longer. I am a regular visitor to Penang so am I able to visit the consulate there and obtain him a multi entry tourist visa. He has a UK passport. The website for the consulate is in Thai so cant find any application forms on there. Has any UK passport holders on here done this in Penang and if so what would he require in terms of is needed ie proof of cash return ticket and how do I get the application form. Also how long would it take to obtain ie could it be done same day and how much. Do I pay in bht or Ringit? Thanks and Regards for any help as I am only familiar on applying in UK not abroad.

  5. I can not even spend more than 20k, how guys can spend lot of money in thailand? I m rich, but I have hard time to spend money here. After spending for everything I need, I m barely at 15k bahts/month. My friend told me they need around 20k to be comfortable in Thailand.

Explain? Because it s impossible to spend 100k bahts a month here unless someone take (steal) your money like gogo or else. In this case you are a loser. Rich people are rich because they keep their cash... Do you think I will pay for an elite card...? When I can keep the money instead? Get real.

I am same as you. It's very rare when I spend more than 15kB a month.

    6k/month for my house.

100b/day for basic and good restaurants.

500b from time to time to buy a lot of food at tesco.

100b from time to time to buy gazoline.

1000b from time to time to pay a good restaurant with my girlfriend.

And a big buy from time to time, something I want, some furniture, some books, etc.

Overall I think I spend betweend 12k and 20k every month.

But I don't see why it's related to the elite card thing.

I must find a way to stay here because that's where I want to stay. How can I do, other than take a 5 years visa ? I'm 30, I don't work (legaly or illegaly), I don't have any business, I'm not willing to get married (not now), I don't have any thai kid. And on my island there is no thai school. Before the non-ed so called "crackdown" I had a non-ed visa for 15 months, with thai lessons on skype, but my school has to stop this because it can not cover me anymore (the immigration says it will check real presence at school). And my passport is full of tourist backTOback visas, so I can't take one anymore.

So tell me what other choice I have ? Other than the elite card ?

The only other solution is to go away from Thailand.

You are right :) the bubble is over mate. Without being mean , $500 a month is hardly the contributions they need in this country

They have to open more immigration offices if they had to cater to everyone just living comfortably and frankly they have enough citizens living at that level who work and pay taxes and also help the local som tum seller or restaurant

If you are a retiree then it's different as retired means you should be living within whatever you have planned out in terms of your finances

You are in your 30s and if you are not retired financially , I would think it's more productive you keep working and save up for an actual retirement later

Sent from my iPod touch using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Or keep working and save an Elite Visa. Well worth it in the long run :)
  6. This all sounds very dodgy indeed. I had it confirmed to me that the TM30 is designed for to inform imigration either if its a permanant change of address or you spend longer than 48 hours outside your normal place or residence. Your place of residence you will have informed of either on your 90 day report or your arrival card. I had this also confirmed by Thailand Elite staff.

well they are wrong. tm 30 is filled out by the landlord. tm 28 is filled out by ylou
Yes sorry I know but only if your address differs more than 48 hours from the one you gave on your arrival card or 90 day report.

    5.1 Membership Fee

THB 2,000,000 (two million Baht only) exclusive of value added tax per Membership or an equivalent amount in USD pursuant to the Exchange rate which will be notified by the Company or the Sales Agent (as the case may be) to the applicant/ the Member.

Ubonjoe I read that too before I paid but the price is actually inclusive of sales tax. Maybe bad translation. You pay the price advertised no more

Thanks for the clarification. I did wonder why vat was on the 20-year card but not the 5-year one. I'm guessing that the monthly fee is inclusive of any tax also, but that is not yet confirmed.

On that basis the only question for a potential user would be: "Are the facilities and services provided for the monthly fee something I really want/need?"

The people who have asked me about this do not actually play golf, etc, but are well below the 50 year old limit. I am suggesting that they get successive 5 year cards until they can get a retirement extension and then use one of the many agents to accompany them to immigration when renewing their extension. With a multiple re-entry permit and 90-day reports by post, their exposure to the immigration offices is down to one event per year. Their decision will now be based on their need to be "handled" through airport immigration and chauffeured to their destination.

Actually I got the 5 year one so maybe the 20 year one is excluded the tax. Sorry for the confusion
