About 500meters from my gated mooban home, a group in a TOT truck stole an electric box from the poles and then some length of copper electric cable. So you may be suspect of stealing when you try to sell. Should go walking around in Bon Mohr district and ask wire shops.

Reports are also of stealing overhead fiber optic cables and getting home after all that dangerous work to find no copper inside the fiber......... optic cables.

A pup of a Thai soi dog is absolute best..... immune to diseases here, will eat anything, knows what a rolled newspaper means and fast, and will defend you to his death. They are kinda dumb about cars, but catch on quick who is pack leader, and if that is you, you have struck gold in the dog world.

Unless you are looking at a Thai policeman at the moment of need, FORGET ABOUT IT. You are on your own in Thailand re police help DURING an emergency. They are minimal help as they arrive too late but nod sympathetically to the English they do not at all understand.

I learned that a foreigner not speaking Thai....... can not call orally for help (chewy dewey really means run away from this trouble, hee hee), does have an ok chance a Thai will help you if nearby, CAN NOT depend on calling and getting police, and can not easily and legally defend yourself from any harm, including biting dogs.

THIS is the real reason for not visiting Thailand..... not the politics, not the curfews, not a coup, not rising prices.... the real reason is YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN in case of real trouble. And, you can not legally own a gun or even a stun gun or maybe other defense things unknown.

I abhor all the slagging negative comments on Thailand, but this one is VERY REAL with no sign of change. Strange no one talks about it.

-all English documents translated into Thai by a registered translation service, like the ones recommended by USA Embassy.

-copies of any previous divorce.

-big maybe.. a signed notarized letter from usa police saying you were never married and btw, you are of solid character and not a law breaker.

-just take your lady with you, it cuts lots of doubts down to size, nil.

Silly Westerners want the whole world to look like their homes. Sure the streets are clogged........that is because street life here is ALIVE with people....... people being enterprising and not ...oops... not lazy and others wanting a convenient bargain from sellers they know.

America's streets are sterile gangways closed in by huge buildings and American's fear of being out of their car. The sidewalks are empty most places there because No One Walks and all are in fear of their own lands.

Lively street life, like Greenwich Village Manhattan and all over the "developing world" is a sign of LIFE; dead streets with high speed closed cars zipping along is DEAD.

Westerners....... get over Thailand or get out....... the faster the better.

Known at my Nakhon Pathom Thai Post Office, I get super service, including selling proper size box, a good idea regardless if your package needs it, and locking my incoming mail between pickups... p.o. box.

I have received and sent hundreds of letters and dozens of packages to and from usa with NO problems, reg air mail, EMS, package rates, etc.

When are you fellows gonna realize how to get things done in Thailand? Thai to front for you; small tasteful gifts periodically, BIG smile and joking, cooperative attitude.

I have found almost no Thai and virtually no Westerner has the skills to be a real electrician IN THAILAND.

I recommend vocational school for three months in USA in electrician school. Be sure to make them teach you about two wire, no ground, 220volt systems like here.

You will be covered up with requests to work and at top money if you demand it, and u can get it. Thaivisa members alone, could make you a fortune with their needs.

I tipped 20 baht and came back to missing rear license plate and half of the front cowling almost off.
