  1. -how do youknow she is a Tom?

-how do you know she is HER Tom?

-do you know that non-sex worker type Thai girls will not go on a date without a trusted person also.

-how about a free meal for a friend?

    etc etc.

I recommend you get another very trusted Thai friend of yours, you have one dont you? to meet the girl separately and interview her. Another Thai, especially a female Thai will smell her out fast and can report to you........... well maybe. You are on thin ice in a hot country.facepalm.gif

  2. Airplane had a package of anthrax misappropriated. USA wanted it back and Wood's job was to do that by taking over the airplane, forcing up so high to to, sorry, kill off all passengers, leaving cockpit crew and him. Forced to fly to Diego Garcia where the plane and the dead were sheep dipped, Wood put into detention, and a CDC contingent of poison experts flown to Diego Garcia. Some days later, media reported big, unusual anthrax potential exposure of CDC personnel; story just ends with that.

The package was stolen from the MV Maersk Alabama, USA flag, in the Seychelles when it was stolen via murder of its two ex SEALs guards, employed by Trident Group (Mark Daniel Kennedy, 43, and Jeffrey Keith Reynolds, 44).

P.s. Same ship Somali took over and movie made about captain rescue.

  3. Waiting for the "waaa waaa - this is going to kill the tourism industry in Thailand" posts that usually follow any announcement that there will be a (one day) ban on alcohol sales.

Not sure what surprises me more, that the tourism industry in Thailand hasn't died, despite all of the different "no alcohol" days that happen every year, or the number of people who get so upset over the idea that the government won't let them buy booze on those days (and they apparently are totally unable to buy any in advance themselves). The horror, the HORROR !!

More postings are showing more often and getting vocal about nasty, negative messages on this venue. It is past time for the owners of it to simply crack down on worthless negative blather.

  4. Meanwhile, back to topic.

What has surprised me in Thailand is the bitterness of expats on this forum.

I understand the idea of giving space to people to rant as a blowing off of steam, but when that is all a message is on thaivisa.com, I despair of the owners of the site. I guess some stalwart reads every word, geeee, but if so, so much of the bitter nastiness needs to be cleaned out of here. It does not inform any useful information. Why are such trash messages allowed?

  5. I put on two notices describing the negative factors, in my opinion, of motorbikes and motorbikers. I was officially warned and threatened with expulsion from thaivisa. My expressions of disdain were tempered by proper language and definitely issued as my opinions. I have seen much more crass and even nasty comments about Thai women on this site but those sail on and on. I must be honest; I still believe the world would be better if motorbikes only came with side cars, which would force them to be more like regular vehicles and also give extra passengers a more proper place to sit. Bicycles need their own trails and should be fined for mixing with normal traffic.

    My opinion.wai.gif

  6. Inside gated, but not guarded, mooban in Nakhon Pathom........... witnessed by home resident........

TOT official painted truck carries men who steal a device for street lights and then some distance of the copper wire that run the street lights.

Daytime theft but no one reported them due to official TOT truck.

Dont tell location because now there are no crime-preventing street lights on. sad.png

  7. Gosh, what would a person be doing in Thailand or even Asia with an delicate expensive rare dog? Pardon but dogs in this category are meant today for luxury condos in Manhattan clutched by bored matrons spending the early-dead husband's money.

Dogs for Thailand are taken up asap after seeing a soi dog mom give birth and let the little tyke get a few weeks growth. Soi dogs eat anything and live, present not a sliver of theft danger, and will love you actually long time. thumbsup.gif

  8. It is the fate of all religions to be corrupted with time.

    BTW what is "Thai" Buddhism?

Thailand does have a somewhat unique practice of Buddhist, probably enough to have that label, "Thai Buddhism." This is likely true especially if you add Theravada Buddhist school which is practiced here and is different in the finer points from, say, Tibetan Buddhism or Zen.

  9. The most direct answer to your question is a Ph.D. The doctoral level, including Doctor of Education, "certificate"/diploma is much desired because language schools can claim such highly degreed faculty as a selling point.

If the earned doctorate is in the field the person is teaching, likely the paperwork justification for hiring will be rather automatic--mine was.

Note, there is a possible Ph.D. in English, but very unlikely in "teaching English as a language" although linguistics as a field is the study of English (or other) but not likely "the teaching of." One of my M.A.s is in English, but not teaching it.

Regardless of the certificate, my experience indicates that teaching English to Thai of any age is one of the most difficult intellectual jobs a person can take on. There are a very few "natural teachers," but the vast majority of native English speakers I meet who teach here are mostly, if not totally, not qualified. The multiple edge sword here is that the English teachers are poor (foreign and domestic), the schools' standards are mostly geared to getting paying (or happy) customers, and the Thai students are almost universally resistant to the idea and the doing. I claim that the two biggest problems with Thailand, on a day to day basis, is the severe lack of English and the abysmally low response time to emergencies by Thai police.

I tried very hard to write this statement in Standard English; I hope it can be read.wai.gif

  10. Unless there is a fan, there is no benefit to keep a motorbike running.

This same is true for a car or pickup but some have fans connected to a timer and the fan continues running for a while after the engine is shut down. I suspect the fan is on a real timer and not thermostatically controlled to run based on the heat. In either case, just turning the car off to cope with heat is the best practice and if it has an automatic fan function, it will take care of itself. Emergency over-heat is different.

I encountered a taxi driver in Moscow who turned off his headlights between each stop sign and the next one. He explained that was to save the headlamps because headlamps were difficult to get. I asked him if he could easily get on-off headlamp switches. No answer.

I held back from noting that frequent turning on of incandescent lamps shortens their functional life.

Otherwise, leaving a motor running when it is likely to charge up its battery does make sense, but only at a motor speed where the alternator provides more charging than the battery is discharging to keep the motor running. Alternators, rather than generators, are supposed to generate enuf even at low speeds.

Old carburetor car users sometime felt that a sharp acceleration of the motor just prior to shut off would flood the system with fuel that would be there ready to assist the next start up. That did not account for evaporation of the fuel nor the possible flooding if lots of liquid fuel is present next start-up.wai.gif

  11. I think this man is living out a lifetime dream. It appears his contract can show that he is aware of the risks of ownership and relationship matters. Certainly, caution is appropriate, but blanket condemnation of him and his girl is way out of line and embarrassing to the typists taking this attitude.

No one here can know the real situation. Kneejerk condemnations and negative comments should be banned from this adult venue.wai.gif

  12. Sorry for deaths and injuries, but bicycles have no biz being on busy Thai roads and streets used by cars/trucks. I find the only more selfish people on the road are motorcyclists, but bicyclists come in very near tops. Hey, selfish....... roads are made for cars! Get off, get out. Both kinds of bikes should be banned in congested areas.

Motorbikes should be legal only with a side car in BKK.... that puts the hogs in line with everyone else... no more cutting to the front and no more taking off car doors open at the curb. Put passengers in the side car and stop two to four on one bike. Easy help toward the ultimate solution.wai.gif

  13. 2020, CM is packed with Chinese and other foreigners. Resident Thai are moving out. Thai biz developing to serve new customers.

2030, Most native Thai moved out of CM, now nearly totally owned by non Thai, especially Chinese.

Hey, Chinese DRIVE their personal cars to CM with Chinese license plates, allowed by ASEAN.

  14. I told you once on this topic....... you are screwed, wrong breed and clueless "owner."

You do not understand that the dog receiving a beating from you just thinks you are asserting your dominance as he would expect from any other top dog around. Also, shouting at dog is just like barking and meaningless to him other than signal for him to get to barking also.

You do not deserve to "have" a dog. Get a pro trainer. Dont you read answers on this venue or just enjoy asking repetitive questions???blink.png

  15. I am again amazed at the ignorance of typists on this venue. YES, the USA is all over Thailand. Thailand is a client state of USA (look up the phrase).

Low profile is the name and fewer uniforms worn off bases, but USA war planes "temporarily" park in Thailand, spy radio and transmission stations are here, and the clandestine fellows are like fleas on dog here especially since new govt took over. USA war ships are welcome here as well as USA high tech of all military kinds. There is at least one very active airport for USA here.

News claims some "rendition" captured Arabs were "questioned" by USA or for USA here and perhaps jailed here, even now. The only change since VN war is the volume of traffic is lower, and lower key, and dupes, I do not mean cars on the road.

One way to look at the current situation is that Thaksin, USA and IMF's man in Thailand is out and MAYBE the new govt knows to re-position itself and play the big powers off against each other..... what have you done for me lately? Sucking in Red Chinese, Japanese, and even French money can help Thailand and if USA remains in lots of control, USA can stand by and see their Thai friends fleece some other money sources. USA can never give up Thailand as its rock solid position, geographically as well as otherwise, can not be lost.

Hey, "they" did not recently make the USA Embassy in BKK into more of a fortress for nothing and with no anticipation of bullet proof glass, even for Citizens Services, would ever be needed. Please fellow thaivisa typists, just write about what you know, or stop trying to cover up what you do know.
