The Bang Sue MRT is to the east of BS Grand Station - I walked from the MRT (about 10-15 minutes) but, after crossing the rail lines, a taxi or motorbike would have been a better option.
I assume a taxi from the MRT would be another possibility.
An earlier post mentioned the daunting crowd outside. I agree but I went directly to the door of Platform(?) 2, asked about 75+, and was taken inside the station.

Can't help you there but why not go with a 75+ as his 'deliverer'?
The atmosphere was one of extreme helpfulness so their accepting an 'almost 75' would not surprise; and you've nothing to lose by trying.
Hmmm, perhaps you could point out you'll be over 75 for the 2nd dose.
Good luck.

Sorry. An important omission: on arrival, I was asked if I had a person bring me to the Center - I believe that any person accompanying a 75+ would also receive the vaccination.

Yesterday July 27: I arrived from Pattaya at the Center (10 minute walk from Bang Sue MRT) at about 12.15.
A volunteer (I'm saying volunteer but probably staff from various organizations with National Telecom prominent) beckoned me, asked for my passport and gave me a screening form (PP #, Phone #, Age, any medical problems) - a very brief form; then blood pressure check to confirm under 180/100. PP & Form were returned to me and I was directed to a nearby queue - several lines (10?) of about 60.
12.30: Queued (standing) for 90 minutes with estimated crowd of about 600.
At about 2pm our group of about 10 was ushered to, and seated at, one of many data entry points. Some 10 minutes later I was directed to another of several seated lines.
14.16: Received 1st AstraZeneca dose and given a form including appointment 12 weeks hence for 2nd dose. Then directed to an area and asked to remain seated for 30 minutes. Walked out at 14.46 very happy and extremely impressed with the process.
My Thai language skills are minimal but reception and guidance from volunteers(?) was brilliant.
Other observations:
Bang Sue Grand Station is a huge air conditioned complex; at no stage was I waiting in the heat.
I started at Platform 2/Gate 2/Area 2 - not sure if that's important
Frail elders were quickly given chairs/wheelchairs
Water was offered frequently
The volunteers(?) were omnipresent and outstandingly helpful to new arrivals
I saw not one other expat
No social distancing - I wore two masks as did many others
My passport was the only essential document. Data entry person also needed my address and preferred a card showing my Patts address (probably easier to understand) to Rental Contract
This service is available until 31 July ONLY, so go go go!
REPEAT: Bloody brilliant Thailand. Thanks very much.
I hope this encourages others to join the essential critical mass of vaccinated so that lockdowns become unnecessary.

Early this month, there was breaking news that tracing apps were to become compulsory. At that time, the Thaivisa thread advised that both the Mor Chana and the Thai Chana apps would be acceptable alternatives. Since that time, it seems, only Mor Chana has been mentioned.
Is downloading the Thai Chana app accepted by the authorities as meeting their legislated requirements, please?

My dad was in the US Air Force and stationed at Rhein Main Air Force Base, that was on the other side of the Frankfurt International Airport in Germany. We went on the airbase ring road and watched the first flight arrival of the 747 which was flown by PanAm. Definitely impressive back then.
A memorable event for you to share with your Dad; a lucky lad, indeed.

I paid two bills via the app this week without any problem. One qualified for, and received, a 3% discount, the other did not.
I had some difficulty paying last month; uninstalled & reinstalled the app and no more problem.Another bill coming this Friday and, OP, I'll PM you if the app continues to work for me

and non patients?
Good question. WHO video says people with no respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, or runy nose) have no need for a mask; indeed, it says they can give a false feeling of protection and can be a source of infection if not used correctly.
Perhaps, if masks were being used by only those who need them they would be more widely available.

Not sure what you mean.
Pacific Cross guarantees renewal to age 99.
Premiums go up as you age, of course.
I (and the manager, Pacific Cross, Pattaya) am saying that PC will only insure over-75s if they have existing cover - contrary to a previous post, they will renew but not commence cover. In the words of the PC Manager, "... we cannot insured the client who age over 75 years (first entry)".
My policy says it can be renewed up to age 90 (not 99) but also says they can decline to renew an extension at any age - so much for guaranteed renewability.
My reference to age 80 (an age point raised by an earlier poster) was in regard to extension of stay; meaning whenever insurance becomes unavailable, the question of renewing the extension of stay without insurance is raised. And no one seems to have an answer yet.

I have learned from Pacific Cross that they will now consider applicants to age 80.
For O-A compliant health insurance policies.
Tj
This has been the case for quite some time but only for those insured prior to turning 75. The Manager of Pacific Cross, Pattaya, has confirmed this morning that, quote, unfortunately, we cannot insured the client who age over 75 years old (first entry), unquote.
But, even if cover is available up to age 80, the extension of stay outcome after age 80 remains unclear.

To the OP,
"If only I could write like that"...(much admired).
Agreed. Apart from the split infinitive, which is probably acceptable these days, it's a piece of gifted writing. I might have included a comma or two but, dotpoom, full marks to you for drawing attention to this refreshing contribution amidst a sea of illiteracy.

I have a Citibank Bangkok USD account and, for succession purposes, want Mrs S to have a USD account in a Thai bank. The account must have full internet banking facility. SCB have opened a USD account for her and said yes to internet banking but, when it came time to setting up passwords etc, could not be done - apparently a website work in progress.
Should I just try other SCB branches? Your experience/solutions, appreciated.

So a foreign currency account can qualify for the 800.000 baht requirement?
Definitely.

Thanks. Citibank uses TT buying rate - I suspect that 34.46 was the current rate (not necessarily the published rate).
My 3 months seasoning period has just started and I've got my fingers crossed that Trump doesn't start a war or that something similar causes the rate to plummet.

Citibank used the TT Buy Rate for my extension based on retirement.

The only advantage I could see for the marriage visa is the 400,000 versus 800,000 baht in the bank. Like many things here in Thailand, I can't see the logic for retirement needing more money. Apparently they think that two can live cheaper than one.
Agree this seems illogical and has been raised before but I've never seen an answer. Is there one?

This is quite a curious post from a self-described cheapskate. Also curious is why Sam would want to share with us that he has twice been in "some girls apartment block".
Maybe his own words "Perhaps i'm mentally challenged" are insightful?

What did dr Nu from Dental clinic do for you and why are you so happy with him / her ?
Impressive from go to whoa: Pleasant reception, minimal admin, Dr Nu (he) explained options and procedures clearly and in good English, assistant was obviously competent, subsequent appointments commenced on time, crown guaranteed 5 years, prices reasonable.

After a few misadventures, I can recommend Dr Nu at V Dental Clinic, South Pattaya Road, about 100m east ofTukCom (other side of the road).

My neighbor (a non-member of TV) will soon depart his rented condo at Unicca, South Pattaya. His condo is privately owned but the rental is managed by the condo management which holds the rental bond. There is a dispute between the renter and management and withholding a portion of the bond is being threatened,
Is there a rental authority that mediates such disputes, please? (The name of the owner is unknown.)

This thread reminded me of a mate who once resolved not to survive the coming year; his theory being that none of his previous resolutions came to fruition so, hopefully, this one would have the same result.

The better informed members here can help me with something this post brought to mind for me. I donot wish to disturb the post but wish to understand something here.
I always thought caddies knew the game and the player could even seek advice on how to play the hole or the situation. Even give advice on best club to use etc. Am I wrong on this?
Yes. and sometimes no.
I don't mean this disrespectfully but take it you have not played much in Thailand?
Unfortunately many courses do not train their caddies so they learn on the job - if they are any good. Even those that mentor in a group cannot do much if your ball position is a long way from the other players balls.
Even caddies who have been there many years may simply have no interest - IE like 9-5 in an office and going through the motions.
They vary from the very good to basically a bag puller or cart driver. Sometimes they cannot even give you the correct distances especially to anything other than the centre of the green.....
This is why if you get a really good caddy - keep her Caddy number so that you can book her the next time you play at that course. Its also a good idea to get her mobile number so that you can text her in case the office forgets to tell her. When you are playing golf for four + hours it makes sense to have a caddy who doesn't disturb you. she can may also help you but you shouldn't expect a Steve Williams or Bones for THB350!
Most groups I have played with in Thailand accept that caddies break the rules unknowingly and allow a 'first-time' warning to the player, after that you are on your own - so always mark your own ball.
In social play you can pretty much do what you like but allowing a 'first-time' warning is, in itself, a breach of Rule 1-3 Agreement to Waive Rules.
Vaccinated at Bang Sue
in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Posted
My experience at Bang Sue (Oct 19) was much more 'user friendly'. After completing the same brief form as prior to the first injection, I was directed to a vaccination point (doubles as data entry). A mere 13 minutes after walking through the door (just before noon), the job/jab was done.
At the vaccination point, I enquired about a certificate and was directed to an adjacent bank of PCs - a little more data entry and a certificate was readily printed.
On departure following the recovery period, I was asked if I felt well, told how to treat any consequent fever, and asked if I needed a vaccination certificate.
Needless to say, the certificate gives the fabled 13 digits, aka the Alien Registration Number. I didn't use the QR code but, instead, entered the ARN into the MoPH app, entered the OTP, and provided a password - a 6-digit number. BINGO!
The whole process ( both doses) was extremely well organized and, sorry nay-sayers, reflected very favorably on Thailand and the Health Ministry - nothing short of brilliant!
