  1. hihihi I remember fitting some plasterboard ceiling on my own - sweating, swearing and some dangerous balancing acts

  2. Suspended ceiling in the bathroom looks shit, what is the minimum clearance for plasterboard ceiling (small/non green) downlights? How to go about putting a plasterboard ceiling up, I guess with timber frame attached to the concrete... can't find plasterboard in Homepro (Gah!)

  3. no architrave really makes a difference- it makes the doors look shit... I have examined my neighbours doors and seen two which have an ornate but effective columnar type architrave and headpiece. more legwork.

  4. Thanks all,

If I keep on getting your advice- I will feel like I should be paying you eyecatcher, (its good advice)

  5. I have just noticed the bathroon door in my condo unit is tiny- 5'8" at most, it give the bathroom a cave aspect- no good at all! Why did they build it so small?

Anyway maybe I need to heighten- I guess that means tearing the frame out and putting in a new one: it's not load bearing so will there be any potential problems? Will there be a concrete lintel?

  6. sorry, in fact i don't know- i assumed you could rent without driver at the same rates as Bangkok. There is some plant parked on the road near me, obviously for rent, I'll ask if they'll do self drive.

  7. ok... i think i understand- anything cementitious is good -but THINSET is best because the hole is shallow, standard screed/mortar is not thinset whereas grout/adhesive is thinset. added latex is going to give better performance and adhering.

  8. i have a number of relatively shallow holes to fill (10mm), i want to use self levelling compund but Homemart and home pro (and local stores) don't seem to have any. Is screed mix ok to use for 10mm depth, 1sqm holes. Another annoyance is the shops only sell 5kg premixed powder bagssad.png .

  9. For anyone looking for tool rental in CM - finally I found someone who will rent tools in CM- not easy but keep asking in the shops with stacks of second hand tools - 'chow' = rent

  10. I have just removed tiles and exposed screed/concrete substructure, it is however very dusty and there is really no way to completely get rid of it all, would sealing with water PVA be recommended before retiling? would this interfere with/diminish the new adhesive-substructure bonding?
