  1. I run a laptop on my desk so I use a usb to ps2 which has a connection for both mouse and keyboard, and it works great.  I run it in the hub next to the m$ wireless mouse which is also running at the same time.  I end up with a pad two mice and two keyboards.  But they now have wireless keyboard mouse combos at tesco why not exchange.  Being basic HID they should work in everything just fine, no wires is the best way.

The wireless keyboard and mouse seemed expenisive for my liking and seeing as I already have a wireless mouse there didnt seem any point in purchasing it............ and as already stated, its not so easy to exchange when its a 300km plus round journey

btw its a ps2 to usb converter I need and not vice versa.......... I already have a usb to ps2 converter which is neither use nor ornament to me right now hahahaha

  2. hi guys

I rather stupidly ran a file that had a virus within it. It was meant to be an install program. After running the file all of my icons disappeared off the screen along with the window bar and I could not access anything other than task manager.

I tried going into safe mode but as soon as the icons are on the screen, they disappear. just a black screen with the safe mode icon and info. I tried system restore but all my restores had disappeared too

At the moment, the only thing I can do is to quickly click on a program like AVG before the icons disappear. AVG loads up and is checking my laptop at the present time but I dont think its going to detect this problem so far

Any suggestions as to what I can do to get rid of this problem...... please

  3. Try the CDgone patch: http://aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip

CD drives may vanish in Windows Explorer, Device Manager, etc. if a third-party CD-burning package has been uninstalled and Registry references for some code modules aren’t removed successfully. This patch and a reboot usually will restore the missing drives. Any third party package still required will then have to be re-installed.

Be sure to backup your data and create a system restore point prior to using the patch.

    Thanks, that worked a treat

  4. Ok, if you've the Windows CD from your System, try to reinstall.

If Windows XP, boot from the CD, ignore the first option of Repair, carry on , you'll need to press F8 once to accept the EULA and after that an other screen with option Repair should come. Press R for Repair and windows will re-install itself without to lose Drivers or Settings and so on.

    May That helps.

    Cheers.

Nice idea Reimar but I cannot access the windows cd due to the drive not working......... Is it possible to transfer the files from the wondows cd to my 4gb usb stick using my other computer and then plug it into my notebook and access Window repair system that way ?? Though I doubt my notebook can boot from usb........

  5. Two way to go to first:

1.: change the port the USB Cable is connected to the computer

    2.: change the USB Cable

It can be one or both of them. Even sometimes moving the connector in the socket a bit can help.

If none of them work, check the drive an an different computer if you not have done already.

    Cheers.

Yep done all of that Reimar, as I stated already it works fine on another machine so nothing wrong with the drive or the cables. Also checked my usb ports which work fine with my ext usb hard drive as well.......... its a windows problem

  7. Hi guys

I have been having problems recently with my LG GSA-5169D external CD rom drive. I first noticed the problem when I could not add any virtual drives to Daemon Tool Pro to mount image files from so I uninstalled that program thinking it might have created a conflict but my external drive still did not work.

I checked in Device Manager and noticed that my external drive was recognised in the list but had a yellow exclamation mark on i. I checked the properties and this is the message displayed.

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"

I tried uninstalling the drive and rebooting with it connected but it keeps showing the same message. I tried reinstalling the driver that I found on the internet but still nothing changed. I also have an update program (LGODD_Auto_FW2.exe) that checks for the latest driver but that will no longer install and comes up with the error message "user cancelled"

I have checked the drive on another old computer downstairs and it recognised it immediately and I was able to access it no problems at all so its not a hardware fault with the drive. So can anyone tell me how to go about get this drive to work again on my laptop please

    Cheers

  8. >Dont suppose anyone could give me a price breakdown per page

For simple text with pictures I brought the price per page (A4) down from in excess of 30 Baht a page down to about 1 Baht a page by changing from HP Photo quaility inkjet to Epson desktop quaility inkjet.

For the documents no change of noticable quaility, prints a bit faster as well.

Also experiment with different brands of paper, glossy as well as matt.

I believe the expression is horses for courses.

    Cheers

  9. Dont suppose anyone could give me a price breakdown per page......... I need to print many things in colour but with the exhorbitant price of ink cartridges I have made do with a laser printer and colour pencils until now

This idea sounds very interesting that you can buy a inkjet and attach separate colour tanks. what printers does this work with and do you refill the tanks or have them replaced (my problem being I am in the south and would have to send them I guess)

    thanks for any info

  10. It's Monday evening in Thailand now and 2 days after the funeral. I hope Mary-Jane and Richard feel a little better after a 2-week nightmare. Is the police still protecting you ?

I also wonder if there's any more news regarding the 3 suspects who are arrested and what happened in/with the house of Dale as there were reports that the family looted the house ? :o

    LaoPo

Strange......It's Tuesday evening in Thailand now and not a single word anymore from Dale's family since the funeral on Saturday.....? :D

Hope all is well with MJ and Richard.

    LaoPo

I seen them both yesterday, they are both doing very well under the circumstances. They are preparing to fly home with Dales ashes and Richard will be back again in a week to see how things are progressing.

I dont feel its appropiate for me to comment further on the case, I shall leave that to the family to divulge as and when they feel ready to do so but things are moving in all the right directions

  11. Hi Richard and Mary Jane

Sorry but I wont be attending the celebration tonight as I am feeling a little unwell and run down. I want to get an early night and relax so that I can work again tomorrow. But do all raise a glass to Dale and I hope that wherever his spirit drifts, its far away from those that hurt him the most

    rest in peace Dale

  12. "Can anyone from the family contact me so that I can include your personal messages on the wreaths that you have ordered. I have an order for 5 wreaths and 4 cards and the florist wantsto deliver the wreaths and cards in the next hour" JAF

    Dearest Bryun & Pai,

Just a short lil note to Thank-you ever so much for your kindness and helpfullness with the Funeral Flowers. You gave the Henry Family a place in the Funeral proceedings. Although many of us, were ignorant to the Buddist customs you were able to help us in your kind way to understand the importance of a Family presence. You will never know the peace and accomplishment that you have given our family.

Thank-you again, you are a gentleman and a scholar.

Our cousin Dale was Blessed to have called you friend.

What my wife and I did for you was but a small thing but one that I know you all hold very dear. We are glad to have helped you have a presence at the funeral and it did make the ceremony more balanced and befitting.

But there are others who may not be members of ThaiVisa who have diligently helped throughout. I would think of Robert from The Secret Garden, Sophon and his workers from Sophons Hideaway and of course Prebin from World Class Diving who where great friends of Dales and who came through for your brother and your family. He had so many friends and so he will be greatly missed by many of us here.

  13. thanks guys

Thank you for all that you have done for us on that end.....

    Hi there

It was my pleasure to help you guys out at what is the most difficult of times to have to deal with right now. After I ordered all the wreaths I went onto the temple and met Richard which was nice. He was just on his way to the police station to enquire about further developments. Things are looking positive in that regard.

It was a nice turnout tonight and it looked a lot more cheerful and befitting tonight for Dale with all of the wreaths laid around. I know Richard is being looked after well and is given every assistance so rest assured he is amongst Dales friends here. Richard has already taken care of the bil for the wreaths and cardsl so there is no need for any of you guys to worry about that and I am in the process of uploading the photos of the funeral to you guys right now...... please forgive the time waiting but it can be very slow on the internet in Thailand but as soon as they are uploaded Iwill send them

If there is anything else that my wife and I can do to be of any assistance, then please dont hesitate to ask

    Regards

  14. The saddest thing is that none of Dales family have yet to reach Ranong to pay their respects and receive the commiserations of those friends who knew him here in Ranong. There are no family wreaths, no banners, indeed no visible input from his family at all around his coffin.

    JAF

As Dale's Cousin I have to advise you that although we love Dale, speaking for myself and my own family, I look forward to Richard's return to Canada with Dale's Cremated Ashes. At this time, we as his Canadian Family will bury him in his home land in the Catholic Tradition.

I am appalled by the entire coutry of Thailand and specificaly the Ranong area. After what happened to my cousin why would I even consider honoring with banners etc a culture that has murdered my blood. While I respect that the Thai people and Expats that knew Dale would like to follow through with that tradition, I myself have little respect or need to Honour.

Further to this, if in fact the Nee Family is in attendance at this funeral, why could they not be asked politely to leave? Surely his friends could honour Dale by making sure that the Murderers are not sitting at the graveside. How inappropriate!

I dont wish too add to anyones grief but I invariably might by reporting anything I seen at his funeral but I really am just reporting on what was a sad and basic ceremony for what was apparently such a wonderful guy. I met the man and he was a very friendly guy and I just thought and still think that more organisation and involvement with someone from Dales family would have given him a more dignified and appropiate send off.

As I said before I did not see one wreath or message of grief from Dales family but I did see a few from the local expats and one from Nees family. Nees family are openly rejected and keep themselves to themselves but it has to be said that it is Nees family who are participating with the rituals and staying with the body day and night until the time of cremation. thats why I said it seemed unbalanced........ surely it should be his family who should be with his body ? I know that Nees family would step aside if Dales family where here....they step aside whenever the expats come to pay their respects

I have had one member of thai visa contact me regarding ordering a wreath to display round the coffin tomorrow. I will try to do my best to help you out as as I think Dale deserved more

  15. Tonight I went to Dales funeral with my wife. It was a very simple and basic affair. I left feeling more upset than when I arrived.

The saddest thing is that none of Dales family have yet to reach Ranong to pay their respects and receive the commiserations of those friends who knew him here in Ranong. There are no family wreaths, no banners, indeed no visible input from his family at all around his coffin.

I know they had a lot of travelling to do but I assumed they had reached Bangkok already and its only a short 2 hour journey by plane to Ranong province. Now, 2 days of funeral ceromonies have passed and there is only tomorrow to meet and mourn with his friends here before the cremation on Saturday morning. He deserves better than to be surrounded by a few friends and aquaintances who knew him. Nees family are in attendance and sit conspicously quiet and respectful on the sidelines but without his real family and relatives here it all seemed hollow, empty and unbalanced.

I know they have stated that they dont feel safe here and wish for personal protection but their government does not see it the same way........I am certain that they would be given excellent protection from the police here in Ranong who have attended the funeral on both evenings. They have nothing to fear I can assure them.

So please do come guys, your brothers body and soul are here and you, his family are conspicuous by your absence at the moment. I think that we would all find it beneficial to share our memories of Dale and grieve together for the final time

  16. Correct me if i'm wrong...

But i think the Vigo is not the only one that is going to role over when doing that manouvre used in that swedish test..

Probably all of them will. Even the Thai Mitsibushi :D

i personally know of 3 other people who have had their Vigo roll on them, but they called it the "it was a soi dog, honest guv' " test

I dont know of any rollovers at all and my town is full of Vigos in all shapes and heights............ hadnt heard of this regular problem either until the swedish report came out and then every non Toyota owner knowsa friend of a friend who had this exact problem too. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it only the tallest of the models which had this problem ??. My own Vigo is a perfect drive with no hint of danger at any time........ but then I am not perched as high as some of the 4x4's

I wouldn't buy an Izusu, glorified plastic tractors with agricultural engines which are unresponsive and break down regularly.......... At least thats what the Vigo and Mitsubishi owners would tell me :o
