Not when your requesting an extension, which is the topic of the OP. Many countries want more info before granting extensions
So I’ve strayed away from the original post. That doesn’t make my comments incorrect

I did 6 months in Europe visiting most EU countries and no-one cared where I was as no TM30 equivalent was required?
Exactly, my experience too.

No like most all countries in the world they like to know where you are while in the country on a visa or extension
No they don’t. Most countries allow to stay and move freely for the duration of your visa.

Of course like most of us on this forum I never met him in the real world, but I dare say there are few of us who had not sought or followed his advice at some time. Without question he smoothed the way for many of us. Personally I had more than a few private chats with him and and from that it was clear what thoroughly decent man he was. I’m truly saddened by this news and wish all his family the very best. RIP Joe.????

The idiocy of this TM30 thing defies sanity. I can only think that the “powers” are just trying to find work for their officers to do.

That is very true, I hate to admit it but it is the future for Thailand. As an expat from the US I would never call Thailand home. For me it is a shi$ hole but for China and others it is paridise.
I have called Thailand home for a long time. As for your country, well I think your description of Thailand fits it quite well.

Not really surprised that April is a lower month for international arrivals from all countries. Guess what, May just might be a low month for international arrivals as well. However, it's not all doom and gloom. I predict that in November and December there will be an uptick in international arrivals.
Have you sent your CV to TAT yet? You’ve got the job, start Monday.

Amazing that for once, Thais and foreigners are treated equally, hopefully that will lead to that in the future foreigners will be 'treated equally' more often.
In our dreams!

I’d also be ok with a metered taxi, but they can be a hassle I don’t want after a long trip….
Are people really concerned about the difference between $12 & $35 ?I’m cheap and there’s a lot I won’t pay ‘extra’ for…an extra $23 for a guaranteed 100% hassle free trip in from the airport is not a tough choice IMO, Pleb or otherwise…. Some people sometimes get too close to the trees and can’t see the forest….
You could also use Grab for a lot less than 1200 and still avoid the hassle.

Come on you Cheap Charlie's 500 baht would get you in one door and out the other in London or any other Capital City. Get a life.
Oh that line again. Bangkok isn’t London. Not wanting to be ripped off doesn’t doesn’t mean you’re a cheap Charlie, it means you’re smarter than someone who happily gets overcharged.

1) Just quote a flat fare (I get back out)
2) Pull up (doors locked) and open the window (I won’t even talk with them)
3) Pull Op, I open he door and ask (they say cannot)
4) Pull up, I get in, they drive off, refuse the meter, I tell them to stop and get out.
5) Pull up, I get, state my direction, try to go a different direction, I have to demand they go in my direction (I’ve been here over 20 years and often know better than them).
6) Pull up, I get in, state my direction, driver clearly understands, asks me which route I want to take, and takes it, confirms before taking the exit I want... get to our direction without hassle, driver gets a nice tip.
Me to a T.

Did the 500 include tollway fees or not?
Doesn’t matter, he’s ripping you off. For 500 baht you’d be way beyond Bangkok. I never get in a taxi if he’s tried to pull the no meter scam even if he changes his mind.

I discriminate against certain foods, certain entertainment venues, certain airlines, and yes, certain countries. We all do this. Its neither racist nor a negative; its a choice. Do you fight against my right to shop at Big C and not Lotus?
From the Oxford Dictionary, its secondary meaning:
recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another.
Do you ever make any sense?

They quite rightly look after their own, That is not discrimination, its sensible in a developing country where wages are low and the standard of living for most is also low. If you don't like it, either ignore it, put up with it, or leave. Just stop whining about it.
Wow that’s about as xenophobic as it gets. Thankfully I have self respect and will always fight discrimination of any kind.

Out of interest, why would you wear it?
Most people won't recognize it.
Maybe Russian will recognize it and some will agree and some wont. Do you want to discuss this with them? Or do you want that they feel bad about their leader?
And maybe people from Ukraine will recognize it. Do you think they will say: Finally someone supports us, everybody else likes Russia? Or what?
What's the point?
The point is he wants to wear it

I’ve never had or wanted a card. The only thing it stops me getting is a huge printed invoice instead of a normal till slip.

Hotels put their prices up in busy periods. If not happy just cancel and book somewhere else. 200 baht is the least of your problems during Songkran.
Given that you seem happy to pay any surcharges/taxes hotels think they can hit you with, I’d like to invite you stay at my establishment. Rooms are 100 baht +++++++

Thai Lawyer is the only one to come-ahead here.
A perfect case of blaming the victim.
