  1. To all the people who are questioning my budget, unfortunately you people are the ignorant face of Thaivisa Forum. You people are so bloody ignorant that you automatically assume everyone at this forum is coming from a developed country like you.

Well I've news for you, I'm coming from a DEVELOPING country. Ever heard of that? My currency is extremely weak against dollar, yes I've a very tight budget, and yes I've to count every single baht.

I came here asking only a simple advice, yet ended up being ridiculed about my tight budget. You people are really disgusting, I may not not have much money as all of you, but certainly I have more decency, I don't automatically assume everyone is same. I would say "shame on you", only if you people knew the maning of shame.

And to that idiot who is questioning my Bali trip, I'm writing this from a HOSTEL, and I bought my ticket from Airasia 6 months ago so it would be dirt cheap. You people are really, horribly disgusting.

  2. Following was posted at consulate's Twitter account on 25th of September:

"Starting October 2015, TR visa will have the additional required documents of hotel bookings and bank statement of min. $700."

I guess you missed this ongoing topic about it. Changes to Tourist Visa Requirements At Consulate in Bali.

There is some more info there.

Yep I missed it, thanks for informing.

BTW, I'm a Turkish national, and because of the recent events I went to Bali consulate today to get first hand info. And as no surprise, they are not issuing TR visas to Turks, alongside Arabs, Iranians, Africans etc. So all those "unwanted" nationalities need to apply for a tourist visa at Jakarta embassy.

  3. I'm in Bali at the moment and I found the perfect click alternative: Honda Vario. It is a heavy bike, and not thirsty at all. Just with half a tank of petrol, I did 3 full day trips around Bali, and there was still petrol inside when I gave it back. Too bad it isn't available in Thailand.

Btw, Balinese are such a nice bunch of people that they don't even ask for your passport or deposit money. And they don't try to extract money from you because of a scratch, all bikes are old anyways. Thai motorbike rental shops are treating foreigners really horribly, even the most trustworthy ones.

  4. They still call him Adem Karadag, which was the name on fake Turkish passport. So it is obvious that his name is not Adem Karadag. And most probably he is not a Turk, but an Uighur.

How come the police is still not sure about his nationality? So he confessed the whole thing, but didn't tell his nationality? That's nonsense.

Us Turks in Thailand are having a very difficult time because of the previous comments claiming that the suspect was Turkish. They should clear this issue immediately and stop the witch hunt for Turks. Innocent Turkish backpackers are being raided by the police 5 in the morning, Turks with valid visas are being deported, every single Turk is being interrogated at the airports and border crossings because of this issue.

  5. Some guy openly says Hitler should have massacred gypsies, and that racist and hateful post is not deleted? This is a horrible topic, showing the arrogant and racist side of some TVF members.

Credit card crime is committed by so many nationalities, and you people try to blame only the gypsies for it WITHOUT knowing if those guys or gypsy or not? That's really unbelievable.

Hey Dracula, I'm a Turk, you have problems with us as well? So that sociopath called Vlad is your hero, that makes you forget that you live under our rule for hundreds of years? You are sick person just like your idol.

  6. The PCX 150cc is a great bike but is going to cost more than a little extra .i.e,a monthly deal is typically B4000 versus as little as B2,500 for the Click .As the OP was complaining about the fuel costs for an Airblade he must be on an extremely tight budget .P.S,The price of petrol has come down a lot in the past year .Now around B25 a liter.

Yep that's right, I'm on a tight budget. I was paying 3000b for monthly rental of a Click or an Airblade. The thing is, filling the gas tank of Click costs about 100 baht and it goes about a week for my usage. On the other hand, filling the tank of Airblade costs about 150 baht, and it was finished in almost 2-3 days. So I had to fill it completely twice during 1 week. 300b vs 100b.

Just make a Google search for "airblade thirsty", and many Thavisa topics come by. So I think I'm not the only one who thinks it's a thirsty bike.

  7. Hello,

When I go to Koh Phangan I'm always renting a bike. And almost always they are giving a Honda Click. The problem is, this is a very light bike and I don't feel safe on it, I feel safer on heavier bikes.

For example, the last time I was in Phangan I rented a Honda Airblade. I felt really safe on it, but the problem is it was an old model and was very thirsty. I was spending too much money on petrol, so I returned back to Click.

My question is, are there any heavier Click alternatives that are not very thirsty?

    Thanks

  8. I was thinking of using Uber to go from Don Mueang to Banglamphu. I've never used it before, and at their web site flat rates are like this:

BANGKOK SERVICE AREA - BKK AIRPORT (BKK & DMK): 500 baht (uberX)

BANGKOK SERVICE AREA - DOMESTIC / INTERNATIONAL: 1000 baht (UberBLACK)

It also says "BASE FARE ฿25 + ฿1 PER MINUTE" for uberX. How is this possible, what is the catch here? Does that mean if I took a 10 minute ride I pay 35 baht? That seems quite impossible, do I get it wrong?

    https://www.uber.com/cities/bangkok

The website says base fare 25 thb + 1 thb per minute + 4.5 thb per kilometer. I think you missed that last part.

Yep you are right, I thought 4.5 thb belonged to Uberblack, because it was under it.

  9. Even if they are not Turkish, damage is done. Thais will never look at turks the same way as before, and turks like me will have a difficult time.

BTW, as a turk I agree that turkey was a decent country before erdogan. But he has ruined everything during his 12 year rule and turned my once beautiful country into another middle east wreckage.

  10. I was thinking of using Uber to go from Don Mueang to Banglamphu. I've never used it before, and at their web site flat rates are like this:

  11. Yes thailand should have sent uighurs back to Turkey, but that no way makes an excuse for bombing innocent civilians.

And what they have done is very bad for turks like me. From now on, we will be unwanted in Thailand, face discrimination.

Those people probably did this for the sake of turkic people, but now turkic people in Thailand will have a more difficult time thanksthanks to them. And the general view of all terrorists are Muslims will gain even more popularity.

  12. Great news for me! Being a Turkish citizen myself, I'm sure I'll face more discrimination from Thais because of this.

I had to do a border run a week after the Thai consulate in Istanbul was attacked, and they interrogated me for about 10 minutes. Now probably I'll have much more difficult time at Thai embassies and border crossings.

I really hate being born as a Turk and a muslim, all the time I have to pay for the stupidity of my country's citizens.

That passport is definitely fake btw, but the term Turk is attached to this event anyway so Thais will always remember Turks as the bad guys.

  13. The 1st entry of my 2 entry tourist visa was expiring on July 13, so I decided to go Ranong to activate my 2nd entry. I thought doing a day trip would probably be impossible, so I decided stay for a night at Ranong. I'm sharing a summary of my recent visa run, in case it helps especially budget travelers & citizens of 3rd world countries.

    PREQUESTIES:

    A photocopy of your passport

A new, crisp 10$ bill (If you'll be able to keep it crisp all the way to Ranong)

Outbound ticket from Thailand (Just in case, if you're from a 3rd world country)

Hotel reservation or card (Just in case, if you're from a 3rd world country)

20,000 baht in cash (Just in case, if you're from a 3rd world country)

At Raja ferry ticket booth in Koh Phangan it says 650 baht for ticket to Ranong, but I thought I can do it for cheaper. I decided to go with the 10.00 am ferry, which was probably not a very good idea, as I will explain later. The cost of the ticket was 210 baht for the ferry & 100 baht for the bus to Surat, 310 baht in total.

When we arrvived at Surat Thani, they dropped us at the Raja ferry office. Talat Kaset bus terminal was a short walk away. I found the minivan departure point for Ranong, but they told me last minivan was full. Probably I should have taken the 7.00 am ferry instead of 10.00 am. I just sat there trying to figure what to do next, and luckily more people that wanted to go Ranong came by one by one. After about 1.5 hours, there was enough people to fill the van, so we began our journey. The ticket was 190 baht.

We arrived at Ranong when it was dark. I was thinking of using the songtaew go to my hotel, but decided to take the motorbike taxi. He said 60 baht & I accepted. First hotel I tried was Rattanasin Hotel on Ruengrat Road, which had good reviews, but unfortuntely it was full. So I walked down to the Sintavee Hotel, and got a room for 240 baht. It was a typical Chinese hotel, but one of the better ones. I stayed at much worse Chinese hotels, so it was ok for a night. Also there was a night market & 7-Eleven/Tesco nearby.

The next morning I woke up at 7.00 am and took songthaew number 3 from in front of the hotel. Its last stop was Saphan Pla, the fishing port providing the link to Kawthoung. I went straight to the immigration office. Because I'm a Turkish citizen & there was recently an attack at Thai consulate in Istanbul, I was expecting bad treatment from the officers, and unfortunately I was right.

I was the first guy arrived, and the moment officer realized I was a Turk, he started asking questions. First he asked if I'l come back to Thailand the same day. Then he asked me if I have an outbound ticket from Thailand. I told him that I will me going to Bali in September but he wanted to see the ticket. Because I didn't have it with me, I asked him if I can use their PC. He accepted, so I found the ticket & printed out. But still he wasn't convinced, although the ticket had a confirmation number, he was asking me if it is only a reservation or confirmed ticket. After that he asked me if I am a muslim. I said no, he wanted to know which religion I belonged to, and I said I like Buddhism. At this point I was beginning to get angry, he had no right to ask those kind of questions, but I stayed calm. Then he asked where I was staying in Thailand & what I was doing. I told him I was staying at Ko Phangan & having a holiday. There was an expired ED visa on my passport, so he asked me if I know Thai, I spoke some basic Thai I learned. He also asked me if I have 20,000 baht with me, and I said I don't have it but I have a credit card. After about 10 mminutes of interrogation, he probably got bored with me, stamped my passport & let me go in a rude way.

When I was out, first I bought a new and crisp 10$ bill from the bold fellow with earrings. I bought it for 500 baht, more than the normal price. There are banks nearby selling notes from the normal rate, but because it was very early, they were not open yet.

Afterwards a man approached me for the boat. First he asked for 500 baht, I said 300 baht & he accepted. He send me to a boat with Burmese people inside. But after waiting for about 20 minutes, the boat still didn't depart so I got outside the boat & jumped into another one which was about to depart. It was full of Burmese & I was the only farang. Everything went smoothly & we went to Burma. I gave the boat guy 100 baht.

After the pier when you turn right, there is the white Burmese immigration building. I handed them my passport, photocopy of passport & 10$ bill, so they stamped me in and out. Then I went back to the pier, saw another boat departing. The boatman asked me where am I going, I said Thailand, he asked me how much I will give, I said 100 baht and he accepted.

We went back to the Thai immigration, but I was nervous because the immigration guy mentioned 20,000 baht before. There were other farangs in front of me at the que & I asked them if I can borrow the money just to show the immigration & a kind French guy gave me 20,000 baht. Luckily the first immigration officer wasn't there, there was only a trainee girl & another officer instructing her. Everything went smooth, they stamped me in & didn't ask me to show the money.

After giving back the money to the French guy, I took songthaew number 6 from immigration to the bus station. I got on to the minivan departing at 11.00 am for Surat. After arriving at Surat, the minivan driver dropped me at Raja office. I bought the ticket for the bus departing at 4.00 pm, which was for the 6.00 pm ferry. And finally at about 8.30 pm I was back at Ko Phangan, with 2 months stay on my visa.

    COSTS:

    Ko Phangan-Surat Thani bus/ferry ticket: 310x2=620 baht

Surat Thani-Ranong minivan ticket: 190x2=380 baht

Moto from bus teminal to hotel: 60 baht

    Hotel: 240 baht

    Songtaew: 15x2: 30 baht

Boat to Burma: 100x2= 200 baht

    Burmese visa: 500 baht

    TOTAL: 2030 baht
