  1. It's a known date rape drug that can be cystalized in a microwave and then smoked or added to something else being smoked. Think twice before you smoke anything. Never leave a drink on a table and come back to finish it off. Never drink or smoke anything offered by a stranger or "new friend". Be aware of what might be added to cheap bucket drinks.

Excuse me but you don't seem to a have clue what you're on about.

Ketamine for date rape?date rape what? a horse? A hallucinogen in adults(in other words you'd get the bejesus kicked out of you by your prospective rape victim),that is STILL(since 1936) one of the safest Anaesthetics around(they use it on children)that is NEVER smoked.

    lol.

not even going to bother correcting you further,

ignorance is bliss, and there is a startling amount of it in evidence on TV,especially concerning drugs,

oh and let me beat you to the punch before you call me a drug user or addict,I'm in the Security Business and have been for 20 years, that's where I got my knowledge.

Add some quasi facts...doesn't look like a date rape drug for sure, but definitely has some serious recreational uses: From Wikipedia

    Recreational use[edit]

Ketamine poured onto glass and left to dry.

Ketamine sold illicitly comes either from diverted legitimate supplies and semilegitimate suppliers, or from theft of legitimate suppliers. It produces effects similar to phencyclidine (PCP) and dextromethorphan (DXM).

Unlike the other well-known dissociatives PCP and DXM, ketamine is very short-acting, its hallucinatory effects lasting 60 minutes when insufflated or injected and up to two hours when ingested orally, the total experience lasting no more than a few hours.[66] At subanesthetic doses, ketamine produces a dissociative state, characterised by a sense of detachment from one's physical body and the external world which is known asdepersonalization and derealization.[67] At sufficiently high doses, users may experience what is called the "K-hole", a state of extreme dissociation with visual and auditory hallucinations.[68]John C. Lilly,[69]Marcia Moore[70] and D. M. Turner[71] (amongst others) have written extensively about their own entheogenic use of, and psychonautic experiences with, ketamine. Both Moore and Turner died prematurely in a way that has been indirectly linked to the sedative properties of ketamine.[72

  2. What you do is put the minimum down payment you can to qualify her for a mortgage. This way you not risking too much money should it all go pear shaped. If you break up all you lose is the down payment and payments made. If you pay it all she owns a nice house and then if it broke up she can throw you out of her house.

You can't own land yourself so this is one way to protect yourself especially since not married.

  3. Very interesting reading for sure. Comes down to your definition of great lifestyle and what you like to do. Key component is how much you pay for rent and where you live.

For us, married couple no kids yet spend 100k a month or so including rent on a nice 75sqm condo in Sathorn area, run the aircon when we want/need, wifi, mobile phones with data plans, car payment, gas, etc and some money for fun and local travel. Eat out when we want have at least one meal at home or street style food every day. Life is good. Could cut back some if necessary but then would not consider it living well.

  4. I just went to Bangkok Immigration today to do my retirement extension and Reentry permit. Only gave them the form, copies of passport pages, copy of apartment lease, copy of address notice from my drivers license and income letter from US Embassy. And of course 1900 Baht. All done and dusted about an hour or so later then back to make a copy of new extension page and back in line for the Reentry Permit.

  5. Just go to Bangkok Bank and best if you go to a full service one or one in a mall where reasonable farang population go. No fee at all just have to watch your own bank/card limits. And just ask for whatever amount in THB you want. I get a pretty decent rate from MasterCard just did it yesterday and they gave me over 30.1 after any fees my card issuer charged. This was on 2500 USD approximately.

  6. Hilarious post!

Amway is huge in Thailand, they do the business a lot more ethically over here than in the US where all the top Amway people make their money selling books, tapes, cd's and seminars not the actual Amway products. Main problem I have with Amway is that their compensation plan is horrible, to work any legitimate MLM opportunity requires you to find prospects, meet them or present to them somehow, then get them to decide to enroll, then work with them to help them get started in the business. Amway max payout is like 21%, so if someone buys an enrollment pack for 5,000 THB you only get little over 1,000 THB in commission. Many other companies will pay 40% fast start bonuses, so for the same work you would earn double the commission.

Amway also has a stairstep breakaway pay plan, so if you enroll someone who is great, eventually you stop get paid anything substantial on that business. Other companies you will make a lot more money than with Amway.

So, after studying many compensation plans, designing some, Amway is clearly not a good one!

  7. I just had no problem accessing that ireport showing the red protester getting shot in the foot.

according what has been said and the fact that the government has asked the Thai red cross to go in tomorrow and persuade as many as possible to leave it is pretty obvious that tomorrow evening those who choose to remain are in for a rather bad time - looks like it is going to be over by Tuesday they should look out for red shirt leaders trying to sneak out in woman's clothing though

i think the red leadership understand what this means.

so i would expect them to make their big push tonight.

they need casualties, preferably women and children, to elicit sympathy.

if the 'hostages' leave tomorrow with the red cross, where does that leave the hard core and the leadership?

the news on TV has just shown the footage with the three fakers and one dead man, and proven the fake and misleading images presented by red shirts. one can see the street later cleared with no traces of blood except for the one man (and their prior positions) doctored images and staged situations.

also, they did find a red shirt on camera firing his M79 at troops right near Lumpini park.

Hope that shows some on here the true face and lack of credibility of the red shirt followers. please tune in and you'll see a huge case built against the red shirts

also see the footage of the man who tries to ignite the gas truck, and the troops simply shoot him below the waist.

The military sure is showing restrain against these vandals and crooks who are nothing short of just that.

CORRECTION: red shirt protester trying to ignite the gas truck was shot in FOOT as he tries to set truck on fire.

This goes in the face of reports that snipers firing only to kill.

Great shot and then he was allowed to hobble away.

  8. That is great information to know. Wished I knew it sooner.

So if someone needs to send me money here, they can just do a domestic transfer to Bangkok Bank in NY using the Bangkok Bank ABA and my account number here? Wow..would have saved some people some money for sure.

    Thanks,

    Dan

I don't have an account with Key Bank in the U.S., but I don't believe that they won't do an international wire transfer for their customer there.... Probably can't order it online. Might have to go into branch. But I'd be shocked if they don't do ANY international wires.

The OP might consider calling their 1-800 customer service number, and getting a better explanation. They are a big bank with many locations in different states. The OP may have just gotten a bank manager who was clueless.

As mentioned above, if the OP happens to have a BKK Bank account already, then he can have Key or any other U.S. bank do a DOMESTIC wire to the BKK Bank branch in New York using their ABA/routing number, and his Thailand BKK Bank account number, and the funds will arrive quickly here in Thailand.

  9. Have to try that one next time. I used Jim the first time last year, great service and very easy. This time things have changed, Jim's guys are great, get the paperwork all done, take us in a vehicle to the consulate, then we went in and submitted our own paperwork. The guy at the window said to me hey you have many Non-Imm B in your passport, why not have the WP3? I am working with a Singapore Company, not a Thai one, so I told him that I not have or need a Work Permit since I go in and out mostly working for the Singapore company. It worked fine last time, but I am worried this time it won't work.

Will see this afternoon when I pick up the passport and then head to Hat Yai on the 30 MYR van service. This would really suck if I don't get the VISA as it is a land crossing to Thailand giving me 14 days, and I had more than that left over on my air trip back to Thailand a week or so ago from KL. We will see this afternoon.

Just got home from a Visa Run to Penang. Stayed at the Mingood and used the Agent working there.

Arthur is a great guy... :)

  10. Whilst London does have several airports the traffic from/to those airports is not split based on in country destinations or flag carrier brand. The problem with having two airports in Bangkok is just that, how do you sensibly split traffic between the two airports - allocating all charter flights to Don Muang might work but is still likely to be a pretty substantial inconvenience to passengers. The idea of having all operations for specific carriers operate out of Don Muang puts them at a disadvantage as long as Thai Airways operates out of Swampy - having all flights to/from Chiang Mai and the North operate out of Don Muang just makes no sense. Can anyone see a sensible way to divide traffic between two airports in Bangkok? And before someone suggests it, the idea of inbound flights via Swampy and outbound flights via Don Muang is probably not very practical!

My suggestion would be tp make Don Muang strictly a cargo facility. All cargo/freight entering or moving within Thailand lands there. Create your international customs facility there too. This will reduce traffic into Swampy to allow for an increase in domestic and international flights. Also you can maybe use Don Maung for smaller inter country only prop flights so as not to mix prop and jet aircraft. This has to do with aircraft separation. You also won't need Immigration there either.

Then only passenger traffic goes in and out through Swampy. Make full use of the terminal by allowing low budget airlines to use the terminal wings instead on making them park on the tarmac and busing passengers to the terminal.

Now their is a good idear their must be a heck of a lot of freight going and coming in to Thailand by air, i remember the Thai post office saying once that they have to shift 10 tons out every day.

I am not sure if the budget carriers who were opperating both prop and Jet aircraft would want the additional costs of splitting their opperations between two airports.

I was going to suggest a Helicopter link between the two could be used to service the passengers that say land at Don Muangand and need to get to Swampy for a conecting flight, but thinking about it it would be empty on the way back so costs would be high for the transfer :)

The problem is that there is already an awful lot of new infrastructure already in place at Swampy to manage cargo including some fairly spacious cargo customs facilities - the other problem is that the source /destination for much cargo is in the Samut Prakan area which is much closer to Swampy than to Don Muang.

And the other not so minor issue is that fact that a significant amount of cargo is carried in the belly of passenger aircraft, so how do you guys propose to deal with that?

  11. Just back from Penang.

Used Jim from Jim's Place to handle my paperwork.

I have just started with a Singapore Company to be based out of Singapore with travel to Thailand.

I had two Tourist Visas, and extension for 30 days and then a Visa run with 14 days as the last set of entries in my passport (US).

Previously had several Non-Imm B, Single Entries from Vientianne Laos.

Applied using an invite letter from the the company, company registration and shareholder certificates, plus copy of my passport (relevant pages).

Got my Visa no problem, Jim also said could have gotten me a 1 Year Multi Entry as well. I didn't want to risk it since he said he had not seen my situation before, so 220 MYR was less to risk than 550 MYR.

Jim charged 20 MYR on top. Plus fun to hang out at his place, use the free WIFI, chat, drink coffee/beer.

  12. I use Claudio who leaves from Onnut Tesco-Lotus Parking lot for my trips.

He charges 2,500 for transport, local transport, support, breakfast on arrival at hotel, one night hotel, dinner first night, breakfast next morning and "dinner" on way back.

Then you need 1,550 for Laos Visa too plus any spending money.

    Dan

How much do I have spend to get a thai tourist visa from laos? I know that ***** is offering a visa tour package at around 2,500 - 3000 bht. Is that the regular price range for a visa run?
  13. I would recommend you use Claudio, his service leaves from Onnut Tesco-Lotus Parking Lot in nice VIP Vans around 830pm on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.

They take you through it all, minimal standing, they have seats at the Thai Consulate in Vientianne, so no standing there either. Pretty painless other than overnight in a van.

If you need details let me know. Total cost for the trip is 4,050 including transport, local transport, one night hotel, laos visa, couple of meals too.

    Dan

I have to go to Vientiane in the next 2 weeks for a double TV.

    Never been before.

I can't walk very far or stand longer than 20 minutes.

    Any tips on local transport?

Hotels for 3 or 4 nights in the 600bt range?

    TIA

    Grumpy GD :)

  15. Last year I signed up with California WOW got the lifetime membership (only costs 100B per year renewal) for 15,900.

Plus some free stuff, towel, bag as well.

Might have even better deal now but I thought that was pretty good, and I just paid my 100B to renew.

    Dan

I'm considering Clark Hatch in Windsor Hotel. Sukh Soi 18. They advertise 9k per year membership. Would be nice to hear if anyone has any experience with them as i have not had the time to visit them yet.

  17. Latest Vientiane Lao Experience

I just got back late Tuesday night from Vientiane, used the fine services of Claudio from Sawasdee Transport (They leave from Onnut Tesco Lotus)

There have been some changes in the last 3 months since I had to do this last time. For reference this is my 3rd (and hopefully last) Non Immigrant B Visa from Laos.

It is quite simple, show up on Sunday or Wednesday night at Onnut Tesco-Lotus around 815pm, see Claudio who checks your paperwork to ensure all is in order for whatever Visa you are getting (Tourist, Non-Imm B, Non Imm Ed, etc.).

Hop in the Van (nice 10 passenger VIP style vans with DVD players/Large Overhead), relax and drive to Nong Khai with a couple of stops for toilet/food on the way. Get to the border around 530am or so. We used to go to a coffee shop, have a coffee, fill out all the paperwork (Thai Visa, Laos Visa, Laos Arrival/Departure Card), however it seems they don't do that at the moment, some hassle factor or something like that. So we just drove straight to the border and hung out there to fill out the forms.

Walk through Immigration and get stamped out of Thailand, then wait in the waiting area for the bus to take you across the border to Laos. If you are on Overstay you go into the Immigration office and wait until they call you to pay your fine and get your passport. This time I was over a day, had to pay 500B, just got a normal exit stamp in my passport.

When we got to Laos, they had a staff member waiting for us, she took our passports, Laos Visa form, Laos Arrival/Departure form and the proper Laos Visa fee (1,550 for Americans, I think 1750 for Canadian, forget the rest, Filipinos are free as they are ASEAN members) plus the fee for the trip (2,500 for transport, hotel in Laos, transport in Laos, Dinner first night, Breakfast next day). Then she took all the passports inside to the Laos Immigration folks while we waited outside. Then when they were ready we just walked through and went to waiting Vans to take us to the new consulate.

At the new consulate they have made life much simpler. I didn't get there until around 9am due to the delay from being on a day overstay, got number 180 and went and took a seat. They have seating for everyone under cover so no more stuck in the hot sun. Then someone ahead of me had an extra number lower than mine so the staff exchanged it for me. They called me at around 950am to go to the window to review my papers. They said all papers were in order, kept them and my passport and gave me back my number. Then I just gave my number to the staff of the visa service, plus my 2,000B for the Non-Imm B visa and jumped in a waiting van to go to the hotel (actually guesthouse). I was sitting eating late breakfast/early lunch at 1030am and downing my first Beer Lao!

Hung out that afternoon, took a nap, had dinner and then went out a bit. Got back and partied with the staff and the hotel owners until about 1am and then off to bed. Got up next day, had my breakfast, did some work and then we left the hotel around 130pm to head to the border. At the border we had some time for shopping in duty free until the staff showed up with our passports. While they took care of formalities we all exited Laos, got into the bus over the bridge and went to Thai immigration.

When we got to Thai immigration we walked through and had to wait this time at the Immigration office until the officer could match up our passports to our faces and she handed them to us personally. Last time this was not required. Then we hopped into the waiting vans for the ride back to Bangkok.

Everyone got the visas they had come for, the process was relatively painless other than the long ride in the vans to/from Nong Khai.

This time I expect to either extend this visa or head back to the USA for a trip and get a new 1 year multientry Visa.

Hope this helps and if anyone needs further details or contact information please PM me on the board.

  18. Why would people want to resell/buy CMS when there are many excellent Open Source Solutions in the market like Typo3 and Joomla?

For business in Thailand they don't like to spend a lot of money in the first place and paying a fee on top for the CMS might kill the deal.

Now to answer your question from my experience dealing with working with non-Thai companies and handling their sales here and elsewhere. The way I do it with my client companies is my company acts as their sales/marketing representative. We for all intent and purpose are really the same as they are, just doing business under my company name but usually carrying their business cards. We meet the prospects and go through the sales process with them. The quotation comes out from their head office in USA, Israel, UK, whatever and all contracts, agreements, etc. are between them and the end customer here. PO goes to the main company, payments, etc. and then our commission on the deal is wired to our Thai company account.

If you want to set up resellers I expect their is some form of import duty (have not checked that for software or services) that is due to the government here, then at that point it is a pure product resale arrangement, we would pay you a set price for the system and then we would resell it bundled with whatever other services provided to the end client. All paperwork for any deal is between the Thai company reseller and the end customer, then payments flow from customer to reseller and back to you. VAT would be due in Thailand between the 2 Thai companies.

That is how I understand it would work if done purely legally.

    Further comments welcome.

    Dan

Would Resellers of CMS in Thailand be classed as Importers, when the service would be Supplied from overseas and the products kept on servers overseas? If so, what Import tax processes and bracket would that fall into?

OR; to supply CMS would the Supply Company be required to start a company in Thailand?

    -------------

The preferred option, we have discussed, is as follows. The Resellers would have their own Internet service company in Thailand and prospect for customers by demonstrating to businesses. It would be similar to a franchise in some ways and not in others. It would follow the successful model achieved here, but the Reseller would Brand with their own name and there are NO franchise fees. The Reseller would own every Client and remit 60% of the suggested retail price overseas to the CMS originator, us. It's this import tax on the service going into Thailand or the fees being transferred out, or BOTH, that is the question. Is CMS classed the same as hard products, like canned salmon or car parts? The Clients could 'think' the Reseller supplies the whole product, though this is counter productive to the sales promotion. Customers should appreciate the product is crisp, fast and protected from source code scraping and website hacking, and virus free, because it secured in armed storage overseas. brought to them via Linux.

    -----------

If this can be done without having to open a branch office in Thailand, a new company; that would be preferable. This enquiry is to discuss the proper, legal processes. Please do not Respond if you have 'ways to get around it' suggestions.

    ----

Another way to 'avoid' opening a company in Thailand would be for the Clients to individually pay to the CMSO overseas; then we remit back to the Resellers. While this process would be 'trustworthy', we want the Resellers to have full control of their clients from the start. Also, do the money transfer costs 'balloon' if each customers is remitting overseas, compared to the Resellers remitting the monthly accounts?

    ---------

We want to get our heads around this as much as possible in the Forum, so when we approach a Thai lawyer to draw up the Reseller Agreements, it saves their time and our money.

Did I once read that the sponsoring law firm is run by Canadians. Do they handle import issues, Reseller Agreements?

  19. You can easily do it for 4000 baht independently. That includes a couple of nights in a cheap guest house and eating at fairly good restaurants. I don't know why anyone would pay 6000 for a crappy minibus there full of illegal workers.

I took the Onnut trip twice for new Non Imm B Visas, the service was great, the minibusses were nearly brand new and VIP style with leather seats. Sure it is a bit cramped to go overnight. They provided great value for money, total cost not including my spending money was 6,000B including the 1,500 B for the Laos entry visa and 2,000B for the Non Immigrant B Visa. Last time I didn't go out, hung out at the hotel which was actually quite nice (though basic) so spent a grand total of an additional 500 or 600B on Beer Lao and snacks on the ride. Their deal also included coffee in the am at the border, lunch on arrival in Laos plus dinner the first night too and breakfast the next day.

I also had a problem the last time, their staff sorted it and took me to the internet/copy shop to print some additional documents I needed and made sure I got through the process no hassles.

I don't know how I would do the total trip any cheaper on the train, I know I would stay in a more expensive hotel, etc. and probably spend more than 8,000B total. Next time should I have to do this again I will try the train, spend a few extra days in Vientianne and make it a bit of a holiday.
