Great. Thanks very much. Does that mean I could do something similar to the following:
For example: Arrive on 9th Dec - extend on 27th Dec for 30 days - extend for 60 days on 23rd Jan - go home before the 60 day expiry ends?
I am guessing I could use onewayfly to get a reservation as well.

Thanks. Presumably this is relatively easy to obtain. I think I have done it before at Chaeng Watthana.
I can't go beyond 60 days though can I? That would involve leaving Thailand and coming back in again.

I am due in Thailand on Thai Airways on the 9th Dec (got all my documents sorted) on a tourist visa from UK (30 day visa on arrival).
I am due to leave Thailand on the 31st Dec.
If I am in Thailand and things change in the UK and they introduce quarantine, am I am able to change my flight (I think there is a fee for a change) and would I be able to extend my Thai visa, if so how long for? I will have my work laptop so I will be able to work in Thailand for a bit - I may as well wait it out and hope quarantine is removed (if it happens).
If all flights are cancelled then I guess there isn't much I can do with regards to my visa. What do you think?
I have already spoken to my insurance broker and he said insurance will be extended easily enough.
-
I am fully vaccinated - so I will take my certificate as well.
I just don't want to be in a situation when I am at the airport and I have a mad dash around trying to find a document.
-
I have got my Thai Pass sorted. I am flying from the UK, with a tourist visa via Thai Airways for a few weeks.
I have my RT-PCR test booked.
Apart from my Thai pass, PCR certificate, passport and ticket. What else do I need to show/take?
I will print everything out - hotel booking, insurance, etc just in case
-
I asked some of the hotels where I am thinking of staying about the situation if I don't test positive but someone near me does (do you know how that is calculated by the way?) and they said that:
This will be considered case by case. And will be considered by the government staff and doctor. It will be hotel quarantineIt looks like hotel quarantine (paid for by the occupant and not through insurance) then and how long for I am not sure. -
Thanks Sheryl. That is the impression I am getting. Would it be hotel quarantine though if you are negative and someone near you tests positive or would it be straight to the hospital despite being negative?

You could be quarantined even if you test negative but sit next to someone, either on the plane or in the hotel transfer car, who later tests positive. However, in the latter scenario, I don’t think you will find an insurance policy which will cover you for a forced hotel quarantine of 14 days.
Has anyone found a policy that does cover for this?

I spoke to a broker at Pacific Prime and he said:
The result has to be positive to get cover
-
Do you know the name of the policy from AXA and Tune that covers me for this issue?
It is also my understanding that if I test negative but someone close to me on the plane, car to hotel etc tests positive then I also have to go to hospital or stay in a quarantine hotel - will my insurance cover me for that? Have I got that part right?

I am a UK citizen coming to Thailand for 3 weeks. Do you know any insurance companies that you use to meet the entry requirements?
I need it to cover me for if I test positive and have to go to hospital whether I am symptomatic or non-symptomatic.

I have no intention of going anywhere on holiday in Thailand. I will just be in Bangkok but returning to UK via a flight that stops briefly at Phuket. I think I should be ok.

I have booked my flight - direct from London to Bangkok with Thai Airways returning with Thai Airways via Phuket (same flight).
I just read this on the Embassy website:
[Currently, domestic transit flights are still not allowed except the designated “seal route” flight to Samui. Therefore, it is recommended to book an international route to enter your final destination in Thailand.]
Am I ok?
Has anyone else gone though the other steps? Insurance, PCR test, hotel? Any advice will be appreciated.

Yep, a month, including 15 days in quarantine is hardly worth it. Add in the cost (a likely £2000 plus) and all the kerfuffle it just doesn't seem worth it.
I will have to get back to my company and ask if I can work from Thailand for a while for it be worth it.
I think the maximum I can stay is 90 days on my visa - I don't want to convert it into a full-time marriage visa - as I live permanently in the UK. Does anyone have experience of this? Or getting a recent flight from Thailand - are they still running?
-
It depends on how long my work will let me stay - maybe one month.
Although that doesn't seem all the effort and expense.

Has anyone on this forum gone through the process of obtaining a 90 day spouse visa, quarantine, testing etc stayed in Thailand for a while and then come back to the UK? What was the experience like?
I am thinking of doing this as I permanently live in the UK and normally just visit my wife on a tourist visa. I cannot stay very long due to work commitments etc.
Did you have any difficulties obtaining a flight for the return?
-
Does anyone know why British Airways isn't on the list of recognised airlines?
What would be the point of them flying into Thailand - there are still flights advertised.
-
Aussieroaming - did you also get a spouse visa before you went to Thailand? What was that process like?
I live in London so I am not far from the embassy.
-
I just wondered if anyone had any recent experience of this?
My Thai wife and daughter live in Thailand and I am UK citizen living in the UK. I normally travel to Thailand for a few weeks for a few times a year on a tourist visa. Except I haven't been able to do this since January.
I have looked and I qualify for a spouse visa so I can travel into Thailand. Has anyone had to do this recently - I know it is a long winded process - for a few weeks holiday? What was the process like? What was the total cost?

Seems unlikely as long as you're a UK resident according to their definition.
To be sure, check the conditions for your policy.
It turns out that I am covered. The person I emailed at the insurance company got it wrong. I am just not covered when travelling in the UK. 2 weeks of my life I'll never get back chasing my insurance company up.
Thanks for the reply.

I live in the UK and my Thai wife and daughter live in Bangkok. When I visit them, a few times a year, I obviously say with them in their house.
I have annual travel insurance with insureandgo in the UK and have been told that I am not covered for this stay as I need to stay at least one night in a hotel.
Of course, i could just pick a cheap hotel and stay there for one night but has anyone else had this problem or found a company willing to insure you?

What would be the point of going private for vaccinations? Is it just the comfort of not having to queue up?
-
I am a UK citizen and my wife is Thai. My daughter lives in Thailand and was born there. We have been vaccinating our child at a private hospital and have recently paid 4000baht for the IPD vaccination! My wife says that sometimes she pays £7000baht for a vaccination. Does anyone have any idea of the schedule and cost for these vaccinations? My understanding is that Thai nationals can get almost all the recommended vaccinations for free at their health care centre. Do you know how they do this?

That is great news. Thanks for the help.
Is there a way of not losing money (or not as much money) on my flight back to the UK. I am guessing I would have to change it to a specific date every time I made the change to my visa or could I try to put the flight on hold?
It is with Thai Airways and is an economy saver ticket I think.
