    Exactly.

If failure is having a good time and enjoying the company of a young lady, then I guess I am a failure.

Thank God because all the "successful people" I know in my home country are truly miserable.....

    Carpe Diem.

    How do you know?

I know I am miserable back home, but that doesn't mean all the friends I left and have families and good jobs are miserable too.

Maybe it makes you feel better to think they are miserable?

What people seem to be forgetting is it won't be 49 baht for every dish.   I would imagine there will be price points such as  49, 69, 89 for example.  Similar to how Sizzler do their pricing.
The high priced meals often have no more meat, they increase the price with things like corn or a roast potato, so the margin on those is even higher.

Then there are drinks.  The profit margin on coke with ice is so massive you can give free refills and still make a profit.

The people saying it won't work have zero knowledge of the F&B business.

    Thanks for the lolz

hmmm...you've got a point there...it;s just that i saw in one big EU bank that they said : " in case the account holder die, the first thing WE will do is looking for his heirs..."

i guess that was just a sales pitch, cause indeed, how will they know that he died ???

I think it's best if you don't die.

    Where the problem?
Probably he lives with his wife in her or the family's house that exists already.

Exactly. The house existed before this Farang mug showed up.

What's the biggie? She comes to Canada, she can live in my place.

I wonder if Smutcake's  gf/wife feels any shame extracting money from him every month for her, family, buffalo and Thai brothers.

    Just askin' like

  5. My wife earns slightly more than your gf.

I earn less than you (times are tough).

I think you are being taken advantage of since you pay for rent.

What I get from my wife: Free accommodation, free internet, free electric and free healthcare. Sometimes she will also season her money for my marriage visa - depending on her mood ?

In return I pay every time we go out (not often - she prefers to eat her cheap Thai food) and will pay for trips. Me 44 Wife 38.

Use it strictly as a reference point.

But the quakity of doctors and nurses in private hospitals in Thailand is outstanding and cheap compared to western care. And much more pleasant.

I disagree. If everything is by the book and you have routine surgeries, then yes.... perhaps it is equal to Western healthcare. If there is some additional reading to be done or effort to make a proper diagnosis then I don't trust them at all.

I had a pleasant endoscopy done here in the private hospital. Really, the guy was gentle and a pro. I cracked my head about 8 months ago which I documented on this forum and again received a good treatment. Even the price of MRI scan (wasn't covered) came to 8000 baht which was nothing considering the emergency.

My problem is with a lot of clueless doctors who will prescribe wrong medication, make a wrong diagnosis, give you a bunch of pills that will just make you feel worse and think they are correct..... and can you really argue with them in a country where face is everything? What about a surgery goes wrong? In the west you can sue the doctors and at the very least have the problems fixed free off charge. Every single incident I read on Thai Visa it was always the patients fault and doctors would not take any responsibility.

    I don't trust them.

Don’t take this personally but I have a friend that has lived in BKK in a nice condo for over 10 years. He is proudly expert on everything thai and happy to state so. It was not until I met some thai friends (men and women poor and middle class) that I realized his thai advice was utter bs. You brag you have a thai wife that supports you blah blah blah but you remind me of him and IMO have a lot of 100 percent wrong information about Thailand including your alleged knowledge of Thai nursing homes. Medical care is the reason a lot of people live here and it is not expensive compared to the western world and IMO superior service and costs.

I am not taking anything personally here. I just try to state facts, which I admit some are mostly from reading this forum.

Do you not agree that most Westerners when $ht hits the fan can't pay hospital bills, set up gofundme campaigns and try to fly back home to their "third world" healthcare? And I am not only talking about tourists?

I don't see why nursing homes keeps coming up in this topic. The OP never asked anything about nursing homes. Certainly no one I know in my family ever spent any time in a nursing home. Maybe nursing homes are better (read cheaper) in Thailand, but the vast majority will not use them at all.

And my wife doesn't support me... where on earth did you get that from? I just reply to clueless handsome men who married Pattaya bargirls that not everyone is "paying for it".

Yet it's that horrible you continue to live here and with one of the locals..my goodness that was big of you.

So you have a thai wife that allows you to get free healthcare that you avail yourself of yet sneer at its quality.

I assume your wife isnt some 'thai tart'.

    Re your mother.

That you bought her a condo means she doesn't need to pay out rent that means she is in a very priviledged position so please dont bang on about how generous etc canada is. Hardly 'dirt poor'.

You seem that consumed with hatred, disdain and cynicism I doubt you'd be happy anywhere.

Actually, you make a good point which while writing my rant I forgot to mention.

The biggest expense in Canada would be housing and it's true that if I didn't take care of my mom in that way she would be in much different position. However, I didn't buy her anything luxurious.... just enough so that she can pay condo fees/taxes and the rest she can save and spend on herself.

And I was never complaining about the locals. I am  discussing Thai healthcare because in my opinion is a joke. I don't respect it. I don't think it's good.

Yet another one spreading the myth of quality health care in Canada.....

Yes. One like you always comes along to bash the greatest healthcare in the world.

Very curious as I have seen many posts by British expats (so lets forget Canadians for a moment) on this very forum who cry like babies and set up go fund me campaign at the very first sign something goes wrong. They are all on the first flight home to Mama NHS because Thai healthcare seems so "affordable".

You guys are hilarious with your hypocrisies.

Yes you seems to be the guy that do not care about others..... You were answering BRITTIM and he is NOT canadian, so dont be ¤%&%¤,,,,,,  Many western countries are crap when it comes to care of their elderly people.... And to your surprice there are a lot of people reading Thai-VISA and NOT being from Canada....

    glegolo

And "BRITTIM" was replying to a Canadian.

Anyway, you seem to be under some grand delusions that Thailand cares about healthcare of the elderly?

They care as much as your own country apparently.... as long as you can pay up with the additional hustle of reporting to immigration while in the wheelchair or in coma.

    What was your point again?

I do not like this kind of posting. You take one nice example (Canada) and try to kill off a nice posting where suggested that nursing-homes are quite poor in many countries. I am swede and BritTim is right on the nail,,, So stuff canadian healthcare for now . I am happy for your sake, but do not put down other people postings that is just plain stupid.

    glegolo

I don't give a single care if you like it or not. The original poster is Canadian, so my "one nice example" is completely relevant to the subject.

A friend of mine has been doing that for over 20 years. It started off with a 69 Baht tag, now it has reached 169 Baht. I am however of the opinion that sizzlers veggies are laden with pesticides, as I always feel very uncomfortable after consumption of their salads and greens.

I am however close to 100 % sure that there is no control over the use of pesticides with their suppliers. ( Roundup ? ).

( When eating greens here in Italy there are no symptoms ).

Sizzler s other options ( bread toasted with cheese ) can be missed. All other foods grilled and likewise aren't worth the money paid.

(Though Thais mostly love Sizzler and and crowd its restaurants.)

Your post is incredibly interesting. I do get amazing acid reflux after eating at sizzlers and now think you may be correct. I barely get any reflux after McDonald's.

  14. I have no clue why they didn't warn you. They probably missed it as visa extension is really your responsibility. One would expect, however, that when you pay 500k for a visa the rules would be explained to you.

As for the best course of action....I don't know. You seem to overstated for more than 90 days so it's a year ban. You are actually very lucky you didn't get arrested which I can only assume is due to visa you are holding.

Let's wait for ubon joe to give you the best answer.
