  1. I have pretty good experience using bitcoin. I would not use the site you listed personally. The guy has made some pretty crazy claims in the past that "bitcoin was illegal" and has caused a lot of trouble.

A more established and better way to do it would be localbitcoins.com

The company is more or less only an escrow, it is fast and easy.

If you need any help with bitcoin please send me a message or ask in the thread.

    Peace

Yes, my goal was to have him jailed. However it seems the Thai legal systems more or less lets the bad guy pay his way out. It would have been hard for me to force him to jail unless he did not make a reasonable payment for his crime. I accepted his offer based on the advice of my lawyer. Sam has not paid this debt yet but is more or less in a pretty bad spot as he admitted to his crime. Im under the assumption if he does not pay, he will go to jail sooner or later. All I have to do is keep flying the lawyer down there once every two months to see the judge. It has been over a year but I will never give up until he is in jail or I am happy with the amount of cash I get.

We all need hobbies right? :)

  3. Yeah, the system here is for the lawyers to win. But I won't get ****ed over either. I'm happy to just walk away from the car rather than lose face by getting robbed by a lawyer.

This Sam guy is going to get all sorts of trouble. He was not only doing that rent a Lambo club, but he was selling them as well. A lot of people he sold stolen cars to are very upset. Some people I have talked to about this are shocked one he has not left Thailand and two he is not dead.

I sued the guy cuz he lied to my face. I don't care about the money. But your point is very valid on how legal action is not a good way to recover lost money here in Thailand. Best advice is to be vary careful. Trust no one.

  4. Okay, thanks everyone. Not sure what I will do but you have given me a lot of options and a lot to think about.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Edit: One last question, the multi entry visa I can get in Laos is a 1 year visa correct? Just like the one I had from the USA? I leave the country often and getting an extension of stay might be a pain. I leave on average once a month. Thx

  5. You may be able to get one in Belgium. Perhaps one of the 2 honorary would consulate would be the best. There is one in Liege and the other in Antwerp ( website http://www.thaiconsulate.be/portal.php?p=adresgegevens&afdeling=nl ). You should contact them for info.

There is not much info on the embassy website that I could find. http://www2.thaiembassy.be/th/%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%95%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%AD%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B2/

If you cannot get the visa there you could get a single re-entry permit (1000 baht) that would keep your current or next 90 day entry valid when you enter the country.

You could then get a new visa in Savannakhet when your return.

If you can meet the financial proof of 400k baht or 40k baht income you could get a one year extension of stay based upon marriage at immigration.

Okay thanks for the info. Going to look into all of this.

I sadly leave tomorrow so I'm not sure if immigration would be open. Assuming they are would I be able to get a single re-entry for 1000 Baht as my current visa is expired but I'm still on the 90 days they game me. The 100 baht re-entry is to make my full 90 days count? If so that seems like a good deal assuming they are open. I hate always having to buy a plane ticket flying out of Thailand when I can't show a visa.

I also have 400k plus in my bank. However I can't that sorted out before I go. Can I get that sorted once I come back if I end up having to do the free 28 or 30 day visa free entry?

If not going to Laos will not be the end of the world. Never been to that city.

    Thanks for all the help.

  6. Short update. Lawyer was able to get the book from him using the pressure of the criminal court. However Sam also agreed to pay a fee when pleading guilty to the criminal charges as well to avoid going to jail. This fee was not paid and he did not go to jail. Not 100% sure how he got out of that. Might have been my lawyers fault, I don't know. Anyway there is a court date set for a month in the future. Not sure what will happen if he does not pay then.

I have heard rumors that he is facing a massive court case dealing with the supreme court soon dealing with several 10's of millions of Baht. Not sure if true but if so he will have bigger things to deal with than my case.

The consumer guys are no kidding still telling me that they are trying to get all of the paper work from the correct offices together. They have not even started looking at the case last I heard.

  7. Hi all, I will be visiting family in Belgium when my current multi non-O expires. I got it last time in the USA. As I try to get the documents ready for Belgium it seems they only want to work with people from Belgium or Luxemburg. Do I have any shot at getting one? My Thai wife and kids will be with me. Any other option in Europe?

Assuming the above is a no go, my best option is to fly in to Thailand and get the free 30 days then go to that city in Laos where I can get the Multi entry? Are their any other ways to get what I need?

Been in Thailand 11 years but mostly had other visas. Not sure how to sort this out now that I'm no longer working.

    Thanks.

  8. They are only to make 5 baht a ticket sold? In my area they sell for 110 so that is 35 baht profit now. I'm not really sure how this is going to work. Many people will either just not sell tickets anymore or they will go big. Anyway I see a lot less tickets being sold.

My wife will buy a ticket once every few months for fun, but only if someone walks up to her. No way she would go out of her way to get one, even for 35 baht less. I just do not see 5 baht being enough to live on.

  9. I think you'll find that sole legal custody of a child is granted by the Court.

From what I understand this takes a few months and legal representation.

I went to the court to get legal custody. Went to the office on Friday to see if we could just get it done the way they told my wife. Turns out it is a bit more tricky since I am not Thai. I do need the consent of the mother and the consent of the head of her village. They wanted to see a whole lot more documents than had asked before but we have them all so should be easy as the mother is okay to do this.

I'm pretty sure there are not real laws here and they just make up what they want to do on the spot.

  10. Learning more about getting sole custody I have learned that the mother does not get a say and can not object, protest, or be informed. That is kind of shocking...

Why is that shocking? That is what sole means. If the mother got a say or was in any way responsible then that's joint custody.

Think about a bank account in one persons name and a bank account in joint names - it's the same principle.

I guess just how it could be abused.

The mother see's my son maybe once every year. I was shocked that there is nothing stopping her from getting sole custody by just filling out a few forms and taking him to that office for a couple of hours. Just not what I expected I guess.
