  1. Next month i have to do my yearly marriage visa. Has anyone been to the office at Phitsanulok and had it done yet ? I've heard its only doing retirement visa's so am a bit concerned. Also, for those who have been, whats it like, friendly staff, easy to find and problems etc etc.

Oh yes they do married visa all right I have just wasted six hours travelling there and back to be told I need more to RENEW my married visa.

Going back on Friday now again guy wanted to give me a retirement visa instead by the way but then realised that the Embassy letter only covered 45k thb

now remember that this is a renewal but the first one at this office and I think that is where the problem is all offices have their own rules

I need photos of me & wife outside the house photo of the house number with me & wife, map of where the house is and either pay the guy there 5k thb to come and inspect the house but then he agreed to if next time we go we take head of village with us to confirm that wife and I live together and have done for a few years now TOGETHER.

Oh two copies of everything by the way copies of all passport new and old one (to show comings and goings from Thailand) only one print per A4 page and only one photo per page copies of the yellow house book and the blue house book

All this is on top of what I have read on the Thai Immigration site and here which includes wifes ID, wedding certificate, embassy letter, etc

am I a little cheesed off bet your <deleted>##ing life I am talk about jobs worth but I did keep the smile on and even the wife was annoyed as she spoke to them yesterday and as she says couldn't they have told her then what they wanted extra she told them what I had ready to take with us.

Oh and fillaly there was a guy from Wichenbury travelled further than I did for the third time getting a married visa for the first time and he was turned down for not having any house photos an Auzzie guy and not very happy Auzzie guy either

Anyway now to do some printing of the photos and anything else I can think of, just in case the boss man forgot to mention any thing as seems to be his want.

  2. I intend to phone Nan immigration office within the next day or so to ask when Phitsanulok immigration will be "open" for business. I will advise the outcome of the phone call.

    appreciate it :)

My wife just got off the phone (from Sydney) with Nan immigration re Phitsanulok immigration.

    The latest info is,

They are currently training staff at the Nan office for the Phitsanulok office.

They have an office in Phitsanulok but the women officer my wife spoke with is a Nan resident so wasn't exactly sure where - other than at the "cultural building" - my wife is a Phitsanulok local but not sure where she was referring to.

There is no final date to open in Phitsanulok - but was able to confirm that it won't in the next couple of months.

A health certificate is still needed when applying at Nan.

I will be applying for an extension in 2 weeks time so looks like a trip to Nan - which is Ok - a nice town with some reasonable sightseeing there and on the way.

Thanks for the updated info and thanks to your wife - it is a bit of a bugger not open for at least a couple of months though I need to use it December so still not sure where to go guess i will just have to leave it to the date and find out then :D

  3. There is a post on another topic here that it will be open for business on the 7th October. Folk at the Petchabun Golf course have been on about this office for months now.

I have just sent my 90 day report off by post to Nan, so will wait and see if there is any info in the reply about where to send off the next 90 day report.

For the South Petchabun folk (Amphurs Wichien Buri & Si Thep), the new office's in Lop Buri and Nakhon Sawan are much closer, but Phit-lok is are lot closer than Nan!, so cannot moan too much I suppose!.

Ps: I have a Brit mate in P-Lok teaching so I will PM him and see if he has the gen.

Appreciate the info as I have to do the married visa thing come December and want to avaoid the fiasco I had last year

ps I live about 6km away from the golf course but never yet been there

  4. Meanwhile, police have sent the suspect notes to Bangkok to determine their authenticity.

Now wait a minute... the bank notes could be authentic!?!?!?!?

They don't have the ability in Phuket to determine counterfit bank notes???

Posted 300,000 Baht, how and where and why would he have been cashing in British Bank notes??

All very curious... but then TIT... maybe some things are lost in translation...

All banks throughout the world have a book that shows ever note of the world that is negotiable and the security measures of that note - so they will have been checked but just may be very good duds as in UK at the moment there are some near perfect duds going about (the non but bare cut foil is the only way to identify them)

Most Banks have a limit of £200.00 per day from ATM machines in the UK. So unless the person in question had a number of accounts it is unlikely that he got the notes by that method

Nationwide I can get 500 quid a day out the ATM at the branch 300 other places

  5. OK, thanks for that. I suppose that SE Asia V 3.0 is using Thailand V 8.0 data then. I guess what I could do is get Thailand V 9.0 and use that locally and then when I go to Malaysia pop the SE Asia card in for that trip.

matter of interest I went to buy another 128mb SD card yesterday and could I finds one - could I hel_l as like the smallest one now is 1gb but still the price didnt break the bank at 190thb probably cheaper if you look around i was at Tesco

  6. I have Garmin SE Asia ver 3.0, how does Thailand ver 9 differ?

this map is specific to Thailand no other copuntry details are given and over V8 there is a lot more detail and some of the turn offs are now corrected like turning from #1 road to the ring road going South it tells you to turn on to the slip frontage road instead for tleaving it and telling you to turn right (I mean left no wonder I need SatNav) off the #1 as you go past the turning :)

  7. i have just come back from taking a mate Bryn who lives nearby to do his 90 day bounce for his NonO visa quickest visa ever he did all his own paper work and not a lot at that. 1420thb for the visa and 50thb for the tuktuk over the bridge but the best part, in all it took just twenty minutes from getting there to departing.

However on the way back we had been recommended to staop off for some food a place where I had been before about two years ago and then it was thai food only but this time superb steak with a waitress that spoke perfect English (she says learnt from a book) and very pleasant surroundings the trip time from Phetchabun was 2 hours to the boarder and beautiful scenery all the way. So if you use this boarder crossing at any time just remember the Steak House at PhuRuea is well worth a visit.

Tbone steak, chips, garlic bread and a beer each and we ate the lot the pepper sauce was bloody good

  8. afew of these I have tried with zero success uknova in particular I have tried that many times but always to about gets half way and then fails for some reason which is the same with a others

I tries Zattoo yesterday also downloaded their player but no schedule will display

But hey ho I am happy with what I have now anyway

  9. I get more UK TV than I can watch via P2P from two sites totally dedicated to UK telly. We don't have a particularly reliable or fast connection but most popular stuff is available within an hour or two of broadcast, download overnight, watch in the evening on return from work :)

    Both are totally FREE!

Don't play the 'copyright' card, it's just as illegal to use a VPN to bypass the iplayer country lock :D

Please do tell what are the sites then as it will save me paying :D

  10. I use a garmin street something or other and got a link to a V9 map about thee weeks ago if any body is interested in it let me know if you want the file it works for me and the advantage over the V8 is the extra detail in the counrtyside i have not tried it in Bangkok as yet but certainly in Petch area there is a lot more detail and it still fits on the memory card that fits into the side of the Garmin unit

  11. I live in Phetchabun and have tried all sorts of ways to watch decent UK TV at lastr I have found one that works for me, I have ADSL but as in Thailand and especially i the villages it is not that good I download now from Iplayer and can watch all the current progs of BBC for a year it costs me about a pound a week less than a TV license in UK

Till July 31st there is a £1 off the first bill which means if you want to try it the cost is £5:50 for a month as opposed to the usual £6:50 pay anually and it costs £57

I have tried so many of the free proxy IPs it is unbelievable and never found one that would work yet or if ity did then it was far too slow to be of any use, but even with my crap connection it works

here is the link I used to lamnia

hope this helps some members let me know what you think of it
