  1. Glad to have u.

Are u in the city or one of the many villages in the area. I am just a few clicks from Huairat,Which is about 15 clicks from Buriram on the East side.

I asked the same spelling question and you will find all of the spelling in use. Forum spell checker uses Buriram.

I am also searching for a supply of DVDS, English have a few leads and when i make it to town will PM u with address and or phone number of store. Not for certain that info can be given in an open forum.

Do welcome u and hope to see u. :o

Hey Ron what DVDs do you want to get hold of I may have some and can always post them to you - how is the DVD player going ? Thanks for boing a friend to mac :D

  2. Just a quick post Mac is staying with me at the moment and the gradual change in him is nice to see he has now gone from being very depressed to looking to the future and sorting things out, having known Mac through a fair bit of his life like 23 years i will confirm that you could not have a better guy at looking after his wife it is just that he falls in love too quick and next time round i think an arranged marriage will suit him better rather than choosing for himself some how. Joking apart some of the opportunities open to him now I think will suit him down to the ground and improve his lot, I would like to say thanks for all the support and comments given by members here as it has shown him that he is not alone in his plight he is not the first and will not be the last to go through all this heart ache, plus it has been a very good outlet for his feelings and opinions that he finds difficult to express in speech.

Cheers to all you guys for helping Mac :o

  3. What about the poorer Thais who are struggling to survive now

with everything increasing in price all over Thailand what can they do to keep up

will we see beggers now asking for 50% high donations

Farlang can adapt to price rises. but the people in the villages will be the ones hit hardest

Guess this is another excuse for the bar girls to increase their prices

Just a note there are very few villages with a 7/11 most of the village shops are the shop house types and always as cheap as chips, once you live in a village it is surprising just how the poor Thais come up with money when needed :o

  4. ray23

Nice post and I think you have a good grasp of the situation

Mac is thinking straight in my opinion now and is sorting things out quite well in his own way making plans for the future - the biggest problem he has now is making a decision which of the many good options he will take now that have been offered and there is no rush to make any decision yet

  5. As this saga evolves,I would really hear the other bell!

No friends of Missus Macb around?

Only wondering if doing the laundry is enough for a Thai wife 30 years your jounior?

Correct it seems even her family now say she was wrong in how she treated Mac

The age comment - do you know Thai culture - you dont seem to

  6. ok mgc, I apologise to Mac . True i do not know him. I do know of his varied postings and find it hard to understand how anyone can bare his heart in public _ I could not.

    Good luck to the guy.

IF his posts are real the for sure he deserves better"

Just do not jump ot of the frying pan into the fire! so many really good girlls are available her but I winmder how he will find them in a brothel like Pattaya!

Cheers for that reply he is really a nice guy and I can reassure you that if I have anything to do with it now he will not be jumping in any fire even if it means him having an arranged marriage in future, I am sure that next time round will be very different for him now :D

ps who says he is now looking in Pattaya :o

  7. I really find it hard to understand why anyone having such personal problems would bare their soul on the internet!

Especially as this sperson appears to have other postings on other sites in the same mode.

Are you for real with this problem Mac?

If so give the girl another chance, It seems obvious from what you have said that this was a contract and she was a bought wife. No honey then no money is the phrase that springs to mind. How can she respect you?

Maybe you have been neglecting her with so much time spent on thai visa?

I cannot belive that a 58 year old man can be so nieve!

It does seem to be true that only the good guys get fuc_ked over and the bad bastards get loved.I thank god that I am amongst the latter!

Talk to her Mac-everyone deserves a second chance, She is your wife not some one night stand!, and please take the blinkers off-how much are you to blame for this situation????

Sir you obviously dont know Mac I have known him for some 23 years and a second chance and third chance have all been given plus you ask if he is for real - you just show your ignorance of the whole situation and person.

I will add that today I have been with mac and things are looking up a bit for him in a big way he is now in demand and maybe spoilt for choice of future partners who will look after him plus a very good offer of accommodation or even land to build a house on.

Yes things are looking up but he is still thinking of his family but not the lazy bitch of a wife that has taken the piss for long enough

  8. I just want to give some advice to anyone thinking of marrying a Thai girl, especially from Isaan - NEVER do until you've been in Thailand for at least three years. The sad story of Macs, I see happening at least 5 times a year in Khon Kaen, usualy through Thai Love Links. Sometimes it takes a year or two for them to make "the kill". NEVER come to Thailand and marry a woman you met on the internet, unless you can afford to lose a lot.

What a complete load of bull you have posted there just ask a few guys that I know that are happily married for many years to Thai girls it makes no difference what so ever how long you live in a place if some one is going to scam you you will get scammed anyway

By the way Mac is now up at my place for a while - dont know how long for but things will sort them selves out in the end no doubt to a satisfactory completion.

  9. Just going back to the Uk visa I think you will find that 90% of visa applications that are ACCEPTED are approved many are not accepted where they will fail for sure. I have know that in the past at least three times where the application was refused, one the suggestion that the sponsor should know the girl longer than than three months, another because there was a lack of evidence of contact and the other because no reason to return and it was obvious that the applicant was not telling all the truth. (these three would not be in that 90%)

  10. Jayenram thank you for your information above. Some 50% of my contributions to my Old Age Pension (since suspended due to pending changes in the number of qualifying years) were made while I was Ordinarily Non-Resident. I have been a tax exile and living abroad since 1986. If you are right, maybe I will be lucky and get tax exemption from my old age pension in a few years time. At least it maybe worth a try! :D

Exactly youdont get anything out of the tax office and collecters without asking :o:D they dont like giving money back once they have got hold of it :D

  11. hi Disting

just one thing if you ever go to pattaya thedisks are abo0ut half the price of the web site you have linked to if yougo to the DVD floor in TukCom they have the same selection there, also if you contact MLB he has quite a collection of my DVDs that I lend him and he will probably let you borrow a few from there so long as they get returned :o

Welcome to the forum by the way

  12. But I seem to remember that goverment pensions are taxable maybe as non earned income i dont know.

C'mon Merv, everything is taxed, you get taxed when you earn it, taxed when you save it, taxed when you spend it and then you get taxed on the income you may accrue from paying taxes in the first place.

    Horrible country.

    Hello Thad

Now you have reminded me just why I am in Thailand hows you doing

  13. Prior to moving from the UK I consulted my Accountant: There is no double tax code with Thailand (this relates to UK residents) And applies of you spend no more than 90 days per year in the UK as Totster stated.

My accountant took this up with Inland Revenue based on the date I left the UK it took 8 months but eventually I got a rebate from the Inland Revenue, and now I do not have to pay tax on my income/pension

With respect I think assumptions may have been made before seeing the whole picture

    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/international/thailand-index.htm

By the look of it, it is very much like their declaration of war on UK signed and never enacted :o

Similar to MacB I also pay no tax on income earnt in the UK as I don't maintain an office there and don't maintain a dwelling there plus I remain in the UK for less than 90 days a year averaged over a four year period.

I have been trying to find a copy of this agreement on the Web, so far no luck, but I have a copy of it here in front of me. It's Titled.

    1981 No. 1546

    Income Tax

The Double Taxation Relief (Taxes on Income)

    (Thailand) Order 1981

This is what I have been trying to search on but I can not find any site with a copy of the agreement.

BTW I have lived in Thailand for 10 years and in total I have spent about 2 weeks in the UK. I'm a registered Non Resident and receive a government pension, which I do pay UK tax on. If you are right I'm owed a hel_l of a lot of money, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I will send you a PM

  15. If its a government pension you are still opbliged to pay UK tax regardless of your UK residence staus. This is clearly stated on the UK/Thai tax agreement.

What UK/Thai tax agreement do you refer to here as there is NO agreement between the two countries according to Uk tax Offices

  16. At last a result on this problem - A new spare wheel - big apologies from the garage they seem to have got the spare wheel mixed up when the car had pre delivery check. believe it or not I now have a spare that fits all four wheels on the car. The garage did say it was a one off and not a problem with Toyota but just took one hel_l of a long time to come to that decision.

  17. I journey quite often on this four lane road and often pass a bus that crabs quite badly as it goes along obviously been in an accident before and

bent the chassis and remember the drivers know the roads because the buses always have the same drivers and it is always the same bus as

the routes are painted on the side of the bus. So what I am saying is that the upkeep of the buses is not a priority with anybody.

    Condolences to the families

  18. Well last night it came over very dark

Isn't nature wonderful it's dark at night never fails to amaze me hey Mac do you know if itwill be dark again tonight :o

Look forward to seeing you mate :D

  19. Makes me think - my (old!) car have 17 inch wheels but was originally equipped with 15 inch only - and the spare wheel compartment fits only a 15 inch wheel I think.... so the wheel there is 15inch... wonder how THAT will work out when I have a flat and try to change to 1 15 inch wheel!?

    Cheers!

ps. thanks for a great story btw!

I have actually done that in the past with a Landrover Defender put the small wheel on the back what ever you do and take it easy it is a most unusual drive to say the least and illegal at that :o
