Good to hear everything went well. Having all the papers ready helps of course. A lot of people complaining just do not have the required documents ready. A bit weird you can not get a birth certificate only.

He probably wants a multi entry visa. Those are not easy to get, except the expensive elite visa. If he travels a lot maybe it still worthwhile because the free limo service saves the taxi costs.
You can also get multi entries on a retirement visa. But then he has go to the process obtaining it, including being in Thailand for 2 months.

If you can get a multi entry tourist visa it will be more convinient. No extensions needed, just a border crossing after 60 days.

Visa can be obtained at the consulate in Amsterdam, http://www.royalthaiconsulateamsterdam.nl . You have to download a form and answer some questions on it. Also need 2 pass photo's, copy of passport page and copy of the tickets. Visa is 30 euros and sending a passport back is 10 euros. They like it if you bring an enveloppe with your address already written on it.
If you live far from Amsterdam it is a bit inconvenient to go there, but still easier as getting an extension in Thailand.
Eva Air checks on departure date and visa. Probably other airliners also. So even if you plan a 'visa run' after 4 weeks, you need something to convince the airliner to let you board.

Did you tell them you have been ill? Maybe papers from a doctor to prove it?

You will be happier in Philippines as are many ex Thai expats. The locals want you there, the visa is easy, and the ladies look the same but are sweet and speak English. From there, you could tour SEA.
My Opinion: We are not welcome or wanted in Thai. Those that think they are welcomed/wanted are believing the illusion, which isn't always too bad as life is short but don't forget Thai is not the only option.
While you may feel less welcome in Thailand, the chance that you get robbed, kidnapped or murdered in Thailand is way lower as in the Philippines.
For the OP. Just go the Laos you can see Thailand from the Mekong river. Maybe take a boat or go for a swim Without an entry stamp you never have to worry about overstay :D

I thought you only got 15 days at land crossings. Well, at least the guy let you enter Thailand again. You got an entry stamp. The question is how long are you allowed to stay in Thailand. The answer seems just long enough to be able to leave by plane.
It would be fun for us to know what happens if you try to get a 1900 baht 30 days extension at the immigration office with this mark in your passport.
The best option seems to get out of Thailand within a few days and if you want to return to get a (tourist) visa.

The baby can travel on a UK passport. Only issue can be that the people at the check in counter at the airport can refuse him on the plane if the airliner has the policy you need a valid visa if the return date on the ticket is more as 30 days after entering Thailand. I have a friend who had the same in the Netherlands. She got questioned at the check in counter of Eva Air but the baby was allowed because the mother had a Thai passport.
Officially he will be overstaying if entering Thailand with a UK passport and stay for 5 months but for kids below 12 years there are no consequences.

Uh, I'm not ever closely related to to that British or US brat.
I'm 25 years Internet veteran, who has seen the birth of the Internet, who has actually met quite a few of the most influential folks, who have made the Internet, what it is today.. and yes, created interuniversity communication systems, before gopher and the www.
I and we are the skilful nomads, who we should talk about. Not these kids, who abuse others, to gain flash fame for only for themselves.
Everyone who has used gopher can apply for a retirement visa.

Buying items at factories does not require a work permit.
Shipping parcels to the US or Europe does not require a work permit
But all work related actions for buying, shipping and selling you should keep outside Thailand if you do not have the correct permits.
How much boxes do you want to send in a year? If it is just a few you can see it as gifts and souvenirs for relatives and friends. If it a ship container a month you better get the paper work in order. But If you can not afford $4000 to spend on overhead costs for lawyers and tax advisers your business will be very small.
the US is famous to have 'advisers' everywhere, so you could opt to advise a Thai friend how to buy, ship and sell stuff overseas. However if money is involved this tend to give a lot of problems because the money always seems to go a different place as where you intended it to go. And officially it can not have been your money because you are only an adviser.
I know a guy in his 70ties who goes 3 months a year to Thailand and buys a lot of stuff to sell on markets in Canada. He tried to get a business visa but that was too much work for him so he just gets a tourist visa and does a few days trip outside Thailand after 60 days.

Why do you care about the thoughts of the people reacting here? Will you take the job if you get x positive reactions or reject if you get a few negative ones? We will not even notice if you get arrested or deported.
I think kids deserve a teacher that can do the job properly. Mostly this means the teacher has got some training and papers to prove his/hers qualities.
So don't be so lazy and just study for the TOEFL test and plan an exam https://prep2study.com/toefl/test-centers/thailand

You can enroll a school to learn Thai or something else and apply for a student visa. However, these days they are more strict and you really have to attend classes a few hours a week.
An elite visa is the most easiest but also more expensive as most people want to spent.
-
If Thailand also has the 6 months valid passport rule you can not get back in with this one. If you can get a new passport in Hongkong you can try it but it is easier to go back to the UK and arrange it there. Costs max 20,000 baht for the overstay plus ticket and passport.
If you do not have the money for this expect to be banned from Thailand eventually.

It is good that after paying 1 million baht for the visa you do not have to show that you have 800,000 baht left yearly, to show you are still able to retire :D

I wish you luck. It makes me wonder what happens if you visit several countries a year and you were in no country longer as 181 days.
-
Succes with the appeal. Why did you make it yourself so complicated? 4 days more in Thailand and you would not have had this problem.
BTW did you enter at 00:00 and leave at 23:59 on those days? The view of the revenue department seems reasonable to me. They can also reason that leaving before 12 am counts as 0 days and arriving after 12 am counts as 0 days, because you are outside Thailand the largest part of the 24 hour day.

It will almost be impossible to work as a remote worker in Thailand legally. The closest to legal you can get is leaving Thailand once a while and claim you make the money in the time you are not in Thailand, like an offshore worker.
Maybe you can start a Thai contract agency, or find an existing one that acts as an intermediar and arranges visa and work permits.

The 7 hour time difference will be a bit inconvinient if you have to work UK office hours. I am still looking for a job like this. I am allowed to work only 1 day from home a week now.

Just a matter of balance. In a country with a lot of lady boys there should also be a lot of boy ladies.

Yes your stay can be extended automatically after 30 days for 500 baht a day and after 40 days (20,000 Baht) it is even free. However, using this automatic extension is considered illegal in Thailand and can result in prison time and a ban on visiting Thailand another time.
You can also fly to another country, and fly back to get another 30 days. Getting a 30 day extension requires a trip to the immigration office and cost you at least half day waiting till your number is called. As a tourist it should not be a problem to spend some days in Penang or Bali with a cheap Air Asia ticket to get there.
I always get a tourist visa if I intend to stay longer as 30 days. About the same price as the extension but the travel and time spend at the local Thai consulate is for me less as the travel and time at the Thai immigration office. But if you live more as 2 hour travel time from a Thai consulate you can opt for the extension in Thailand.

I thought that the address on the arrival card would suffice for the first place you stay? if not I better not put my family in law address there in case they do a cross check. I will stay at several hotels so one of them will do on the arrival card then.
-
It must be the limo service else it would be easier to buy a condo and get an elite property co-project membership for free.

Depends where the boy lives. If he lives in Laos a lao id would be handy for him.

I doubt a legal construction is possible without a work permit.
From Europe/German perspective you do not have to pay income tax in Germany if you can prove your main residence is outside Germany for more as 183 days a year.
If you do not have a work permit in Thailand you are not allowed to work in Thailand, that includes working for companies in outher countries. However, they have no prove of your work hours. Digi nomads stay under the radar as long they do not rent offices to work from.
I do not know where your offshore company is registered. If it is in Thailand I guess if you have to do one border crossing a year at least. So you can say you make the money billed by your offshore company outside Thailand. If you stay only 1 day outside Thailand they only can say you earn a lot of money for 1 day work.
I am bit jealous because i would love to make my money this way but i am too chicken to try it.

If your passport allows a 30 day visa exempt entry, this should not be a problem. But the immigration officer will automatically stamp a visa so you better explain your request before giving your passport.
It is probably highly dependable on the mood of the immigration officer also.
