  1. "Registration for TM30 online"

Looking at the documents required for registration, as a foreigner I would need a copy of my passport and a copy of the house registration. Does the house registration have to be in the applicants name ? Because in that case the online registration would only be available to condo owners ? My sister in law owns the house, and I used her when registering my change of address and TM30 a few months ago. She is not computer literate though, anything more than Facebook on her phone is too hitech for her !

My wife is not much better, although she can manage Facebook and Youtube on her ipad, so it would be a lot more convenient if I could register in my name using the tabien baan with S.i.L's name as housemaster.

So, has anybody registered using the tabien baan in somebody elses name ?

  2. ^ Because we are going to a family wedding this weekend in Ayyuttaya so will be staying overnight and out of province for just over 24 hours. The sister in law booked the resort rooms so I will try and stay out of sight and hope the resort office don’t want my passport. If so then I won’t get put into the system and immigration will never know, but if the resort do tell immigration then by the info above I guess a new TM30 will be needed.

Maybe they are diversifying into providing medical emergency and funeral and cremation services and want to give the business a bit of a boost.

No, he just wants all the Bangkok revheads to be able to get to the family business ( ie racetrack) quicker and more often. And then replicate all the race moves on the way home.....

”did you see Somchai try to cut in front of the other car and end up off the road” ......(just like this).....

  4. Has anybody had recent experience with Ubon Immigration and TM30 after returning home from a trip within Thailand ? Are they among the offices that want a new form every time, or are they more relaxed ( and sensible) about it ?

Yes, I know we could phone them but sometimes it is best not to give them any funny ideas !

Excellent !  but i would like to see it with todays prices (2019)

it's a LOT easier to check prices online nowadays compared to 10+ years ago ......

http://www.thaiwatsadu.com/index.html    Catalogues only, in Thai only naturally, no online ordering.

These have an online store :

    https://www.dohome.co.th/                       Thai only

    https://www.homepro.co.th/                     Thai and English

https://store.scg.com/                              thai only, use Chrome or whatever to translate

    https://www.onestockhome.com/             Thai and English

    https://www.globalhouse.co.th/                 thai only

I'm sure there are more if anybody wants to add them.

it states the price in both Australian dollars

    $34,990 and  USD $36,831

I used the USD for my comparison because I am familiar with the rate of exchange.

I only used this for comparison, and is only speculation. The Thai price could  be totally different (higher or lower)  because of the tax situation and other variables..

That is NOT $US, both prices are in Australian dollars.

ABN holders can drive-away for $34,990 ($36,831 for us regular folk) means people with an Australian Business Number get a tax discount for commercial use, regular Joe Public pays the full price of $36831. (for the top model)

Which would be around 786,000 baht but as it would be assembled here should be much cheaper. That article was also dated November 2017, about the 2018 model......presumably the vehicle and prices would have been updated since then.

Senior ticket on Skytrain: only for Thai National Only

Senior ticket on metro ( underground ) :Thai and non -Thai can buy them.

It seem there is no clear policy emplemented by the government for senior that are not Thai National.

They are both private companies, so can do whatever they like (almost) unless the govt was to bring in an actual law governing this.

I was at the Khon Kaen zoo once, where they had a big sign in Thai and English for the admission prices. It clearly said, in perfect English, people over 60 half price .....but when I asked for that discount it’s “no, Thais only”  Then why the heck have a big sign in English ? I suspect it was the sales staff making up their own rules.

We had a handicapped Thai teenager with us who should have got a discount too according to the sign but they refused him too.

If he has been convicted and served jail for a drugs related charge shouldn't that automatically disqualify him? Anyone here know the rules related to this?

Only a conviction in Thailand counts apparently according the story in “the other paper”.

Of course, in most other countries he would have been vetted out during the pre-selection process. .....

The OP has a point - I know of many people who have worked and paid tax for years on Non-Immigrant visa extensions, are eligible for PR, but don't apply for it, usually because they can't be bothered.

Completely settled in Thailand, they seem oblivious to what might happen to them if they lose their job and can't find another one.

Well if they do lose their job, and cannot find another one here then having  PR is not going to make any difference, is it ? No dole/social security here so they would have to go back 'home" or somewhere they could find a job.

In addition Tops at least here in the Central Mall does not give you plastic bags every Tuesday. I still need plastic bags for my waste. And perhaps better recycling could solve the problem. Also there is the question who throws them into the sea. Garbage removal companies that want to save money? And for me such plastic bag free days might be just the days I avoid for shopping. And honestly - I never ever threw a plastic bag into a river or into the sea. So who does it!

Who does it? Well once, after visiting the Jim Thomson house I went down to the klong behind it and on the other side was a woman throwing plastic bags from the back of her pickup into the water. Garbage bags and shopping bags ....

I went shopping at my local Tesco Express yesterday with my canvas bags, saw they were using paper bags in the express lane.

A couple of women in front of me had bought several large multi-packs of Lays and similar, insisted they be squeezed into the bags, one pack per bag. I am standing there thinking, <deleted> ?, they are already wrapped in plastic ! Must just be a compulsion to use as many bags as possible. Certainly slowed down the “express” lane while they tried to fit the packs into bags !

The one in jomtien has been there for many months. If I had to guess, someone has generously donated a fleet of BMW’s to police

More likely that somebody in the RTP purchasing chain has an uncle owns a BMW dealership, and that somebody has got a kickback for deciding BMWs are the vehicle of choice.
