  1. Sorry i got that wrong 4K each was for hepatitis and polio i think. The 2 main inoculations you have in the UK
  2. I totally agree with your statement, the wearing of masks should be a personal choice, plus the world does need to move on. My point is only that an opinion such as yours should be one of personal choice as you have stated but not out of ignorance,. which seems to be more the pattern here. Surprising, considering the age of posters here. I have stated previously i know a number of acquaintances that have died from Covid not even in there 60's. I guess it comes down to the fact that when you don't see the outcomes of such a disease you form a completely different opinion.
  3. It continues to amaze me that people still don't know the risks of this nasty disease. Whilst it is true that for many it is no worse than catching a common cold and that more people will die of catching the common cold/pneumonia. The simple fact is that over 80% of the deaths occur to people over the age of 65. Even if you do not die, by merely catching the disease, it could do significant damage to organs within your body that will/could decrease your life expectancy significantly, hence why Covid deaths are recorded within 30 days of catching Covid. Peoples bodies are already starting to breakdown at this age and this disease can advance this state very rapidly through the damage it causes to other organs IMO for elderly people, at least for quite some years to come, this should be the new normal.
  4. From my observation in the village, cats, by there own inquisitive nature rarely survive more than 12 months. the only ones that survive are the ones that actually have responsible owners that actually look after them well. Most only have half, or a broken tail. maybe in their efforts to escape being attacked and eaten by the dogs (not just strays In 8 years in a village i have only seen one cat that has survived more than 2 years and it literally does not leave its owners side following her everywhere
  5. I need to edit this as it is done in the family court but can be done by yourselves at a minimal cost. sorry for misleading information, too late for me to edit
  6. Thank you Ubonjoe This topic arose in January when i wished to get a yearly extension based on parental guardianship. You are correct on the 7 years but others have done it as low as 5 years. Not sure if it was the same discussion but someone mentioned they got the forms done for as little as 500Bt. I think i mentioned then, a lot was lost in translation but it did not change the fact that the process would take about 1 month. The main point to come out of it was that it was not necessary to pay extortionate lawyer fees and go through the family court I will go through the post you have highlighted as i do need to be better prepared next time
  7. I believe the document you refer to is a kor nor 11 This year i went to do exactly the same as yourself however i left it too late to do all the paperwork Immigration stated the whole procedure would take approx 1 month to complete. You might be able to get the Kor nor 11 within 1 day but it still needs to be verified as i understood it. This entailed it being sent somewhere and the waiting period was approximately i month. I had just over 1 week left of my visa and they categorically stated, no way it would happen in that time period. on my return this year i will start the process as soon as i arrive on my 3 month visa If i remember correctly the process is very simple if the child is over 7 years old, as mentioned, however, depending on the amphoe can be as low as 5 (no need to go to family court)
  8. Initially i need to thank Crossy for starting this thread as i have now produced my own bacon and was pleased with the results. You need to experiment a little to get your preferred end product. i added liquid smoke to mine but definitely need to add more next time, also more salt as i went for a reduced salt option first time.. I ordered the slicer as shown by Crossy and we have used it quite a few times for slicing pork for a barbecue and bread, as well as just for the bacon. My only complaint, if any, is that you need to freeze the bacon/pork for a few hours before slicing. It definitely makes the job a lot easier This is now part of, what i call, my Thai survival kit, all the foods and items from the UK i bring with me each time and lock up when i leave. I paid 1650 baht and was identical to the one Crossy pictured i looked at them all quite extensively in regards to motor wattage etc and you probably won't get anything better by paying more unless you're going to pay big money and get something professional
  9. i offered to pay for my GF's cousin to get his female dog spayed as every year it had 2 litters They can not feed them all and eventually they just end up dying or roaming wild in packs and you have to be very careful that they do not attack you when nearing the property His wife refused to get her neutered stating that the dog had a right to a normal life 3 Months ago he was very excited because his cow had just given birth. On the second or third day, as he was nearing the area in which his cow was situated, he spotted that a group of wild dogs from the temple, together with his own dogs, were attacking the calf, By the time he got there the calf was dead I hate to say it but i was actually pleased that it had happened. Unfortunately there needs to be a nationwide cull on these dangerous animals. On another given day, that could of been a small child Every time the dog came into season it was a nightmare, constant howling and dogs fighting all night long
  10. Whilst i agree that one may still test positive between time of test and flight surely the airlines must have a responsibility to protect their passenger's from any form of sickness. Due to the variant being extremely contagious would you really want to get on a flight ( in close proximity with others) with a high possibility that you would also become infected and have your holiday ruined for at least a week. I have caught, what they would determine a mild case of covid, and although its bearable you have a very sore throat for 3 days , normal cold symptoms and generally tired for maybe 5 days. The common symptom's normally associated with Covid are, in a lot of cases no longer found,. I was informed of this as i had none of them.
  11. Certainly not me who has lost 3 associate's in their mid 40’s and 2 friends who thought they were going to die as they believed they were having a heart attack. For the majority of people this has become more of an inconvenience then anything else (mostly the ones that think that the restrictions are not necessary or important)but for some it has killed the bread winners and most important people of a families household who would otherwise have lead a normal life.
  12. Wow, Thanks Ubon for the info and link. We are not married but my son is 6 years old (in your link some have stated that they will except this age)so i am going to take a trip to the Amphoe to see if they will except his consent plus the head of the village has said he will come there if it is necessary for him to sign anything Once again thank you
  13. Searched for an answer on here but the search engine here is useless and cannot find a definitive answer elsewhere I arrived in Thailand on a dependent non 'O' visa in regards to being a parent of a Thai national. I went to extend the visa for 12 months even though i still had to leave but felt it makes things a lot simpler each year just extending as i already had 800,000 baht from my expired OA extension They state i need some sort of guarantee that i am the parent. I am not sure but i believe this is some sort of letter from the Amphur as i have read something like this before some time ago. Does anyone know exactly what is the process and what is needed at the Amphur? It is too late now as they have also stated it will take them up to a month to process it once they have the documents and i will of left the country but i would like to get what's needed in preparation for later this year
  14. I am building a house in Surin and just got a quote to supply electric to my house that is not yet built. The company has registered the house etc, even though nothing is there yet and will start installing in 2 days. They are using 3 poles over a distance of approx 100 metres and have stated it will take approx 3 days to complete at a cost of 18500 baht What is confusing is that they state that they are installing the 30Amp supply which is the highest you can get but i have no idea what they mean by this as it is still a single phase supply as missus states there is going to be 2 wires
  15. Yes it would but it’s a long way to go from Thailand to the UK every week and works out very expensive. Even whilst in the UK,It was hard enough to convince her to stop shopping for everyone else (half her age) even before she was vaccinated. My mother is and always will be very independent. Still driving now at 84. I only but wish she would listen to your own advice and let me do it
  16. 90% or not, What I did find interesting was the number of 12-15 years old that had been vaccinated as (1) I was not aware they had even rolled out a vaccination and my tenants gave me indication to suspect otherwise (2) before it was being suggested everyone I knew said they were going to refuse it for their children. The problem lies in the fact that in an average class of 30 pupils at least 3 or more will not be vaccinated and may well be different from region to region Everyone had got used to wearing masks in stores and then suddenly they stopped it !!!!! I noticed that mask wearing had decreased about 40%- 50% in supermarkets I frequent. Tesco have now finally forced the issue this week by declaring that no one will be allowed in without a mask so that my ageing mother can shop in safety????
  17. I don’t know where you get 90% from but that’s not true, maybe close to the total adult population ? The problem the UK has, is that the youth are not bothering to getting vaccinated, plus school children remain unvaccinated and continue to spread the virus to both other children and their parents. The so called herd immunity does not work in these circumstances. I have a rented property where the children have got covid twice now and had to isolate but parents refuse to get vaccinated From my viewpoint everyone should have the right to not be vaccinated, but you have to except the consequences of your actions and like the cases in the USA why should anyone employee you and put their business and other employees at risk just because of one persons belief. It’s a two way street
  18. i am arriving from UK on the 4th Nov but still got issued COE 2 days ago under the sandbox scheme. I was hoping i could leave Phuket after 2 days under the new rules, i don't get why the sandbox scheme should not be any different from the new rulings when they come into force.
  19. i don't know exactly what they are charging in a hospitel if you are positive with no symptoms. i have read about 150K baht but many insurance companies will now only cover for up to 5/6k per day for 14 days including the emirates insurance. They need to stop the extortionate rip off cost of both the hospitels and the Covid insurance packages. Imagine a Chinese bus tour and one of the passengers gets covid, are they then going to quarantine the whole bus? If asymptomatic people need to be able to quarantine it needs to be at an acceptable cost and not in a rip off hospitel, making insurance affordable, or no tourists are coming.
  20. Practically the whole of your post could of been written by me Can you even buy a non smart TV over 32"? I could not believe the price of our 55" TV 20 months ago and will probably get a 65" for our new house next year A must for any smart TV owners must be a wireless keyboard and mouse if you really wish to use the internet
  21. To start paying into the Thai health system at the sprightly age of 60+ is hardly going to be cost effective for Thailand. If, as they say, you can get insurance from your own country and not have to use their specified insurance companies, i suspect it would offset any increase and probably work out cheaper
  22. Join the club i am flying on the 3rd Nov. Had already changed my accommodation from 2 weeks to 1 week (some people would of booked the non refundable hotels so would have no options). Presently waiting on COE to come through. Tests, paid for obviously.(their not going to give me a refund) Too late in the day to change everything I will just be glad to be back in Thailand and not miss another of my son's birthdays My only real gripe is that i am on the other side of Thailand. As soon as i arrive i will be planning my flight to Don Muang airport . taxi to Mochitt bus station and finally the bus to Surin. Hopefully i can organise it in a few days (will depend on flight availability)
  23. For every report that says they are not safe you will find another that says they are. If you read your link it is very careful to say on every topic that e liquids can, emphasis on the can, contain certain chemicals etc etc In countries like america and the UK there are strict guidelines to ensure that these are not contained within the products for sale there. People read one report and make their mind up. The simple fact is they are, by far, safer than smoking cigarettes and no evidence has yet to be shown that they are significantly dangerous to ones health as all the reports only speculate. To my knowledge it has also never been challenged that the vapor given off is toxic in any way to others.
  24. Please, Please don't answer any more of his comments. i can't take reading any more of his dribble
  25. yes that who i found for £95. I thought it might be an easier option but all are off site and i have no means to get to them except taxi after arriving at Heathrow. Also if i am going to test positive for Covid i would rather i did it before i made the 65 mile trip to Heathrow and have to make the trip back. It was only in case of emergency if a previous test did not come through for whatever reason
