All at the same time they are cracking down on farang in the country, but can't get enough of the ASEAN citizens who bring in zero money to Thailand and if anything send it out of the country.
Whatever happened to immigration rules that you can not do any work that a Thai can do?... Oh I forgot, that is for westerners only.
Our eyes are the wrong shape.

If a passport is revoked, who would know its revoked, apart from the issuing country?
I don't know why these people are apposing the junta. Come back, spend 10 days in government detention and then be set free?
The junta are trying to bring the people together by removing the friction that existed before with colour politics. Its just a temporary arrangement. Later politics will come back, political parties, elections and a voted in government.
The passports will flag up at any immigration or border checkpoint across the world as being invalid. They will neither be able to leave that country nor enter another, unless they get a Montenegro passport, but this is going to be stamped out very soon as the EU have already told them to stop issuing passports willy nilly or they will not be allowed to join the EU as their scam is endangering security.
They are also handing out fast track citizenships there, but only if your have a very good wedge of cash to invest in their country, I am talking million USD.
Anyway.... let them rot overseas, Thailand doesn't need that type.

now they can ask for political refugee status anywhere in the world.
with revoking their passports the junta lowered their own chances of extradition of a stateless person
the point is if the world would want corrupt people unless they also are corrupt. these ones most likely do not have the financial status as Mr. T and I doubt Mr. T would carry them for long
Your making assumptions these people are guilty, being wanted and being guilty are not the same. Countries will be lining up to take them as stateless people. Lets hope its never the current government looking for refuge...options will be very limited
A person with a revoked passport on criminal grounds is NOT a stateless person, and is common to revoke a passport to trap them in whatever country they are in at the time so proceedings can be put together to have them arrested and extradited.
A stateless person is someone who has no citizenship.
Countries lining up my arse.
Even if they can get permanent refuge somewhere, they will soon pine for Thailand just like their boss who is always whinging about wanting to come home. Also, the only countries that offer refuge to criminals are not exactly the sort of places one would like to be living in. IE... a desert.
By the way.... the next time the UK wants a rapist or a criminal on the run extradited from Thailand back to the UK I can guess what the answer will be.
But that aside, a Thai in the UK sticks out like a sore thumb, that girl has already been getting grief from Thais living over there. One actually went to her house and verbally attacked her...... silly girl.... silly silly girl.
She will be forever looking over her shoulder.

I don't recall any rumours of Thai seafood bans from the US and EU.
I think he just wants his name in the media at least once a week.

THAI looks forward to welcoming passengers to the new London Heathrow Terminal 2 in the near future," it said.
Terminal 2?
That is a downgrade for airlines that don't cut the numbers.
I used to work at Heathrow before anyone decides to chime in. Hope they enjoy rubbing shoulders with the budget airlines.

These tragedies will not stop as long as the world relies on more and more consumption to keep going.
RIP. I cannot imagine how desperate most of these people must have been.
A direct result of those countries being unwilling to limit their overpopulation. It's long past time to limit reproduction by whatever means necessary to do the job. If governments won't, Gaia will and it won't be pleasant.
I agree.

RS got told to put the matches on free to air channels AND that is exactly what they did. The NBTC should be held accountable for the cluster fxxk that is digital TV in Thailand.
Sent from my XT1032 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
No... RS were explicitly told to air all matches on CH5 and CH7 and this is exactly what they have NOT done.
That was the condition to be able to claim the 427 M baht from the taxpayer. They didn't play by the conditions so should at least forfeit a large portion of the money. More than the pro-rata amount as a punitive measure.
Or refuse to pay anything to send out a clear message to them and any other big corps that if they choose to take the piss, then they lose.

Although I feel for them, only idiots travel that country.
Only idiots?
I would love to travel to North Korea,I am not an idiot either.
They probably got pissed and offended a local by speaking their mind about 'the dear leader' or the country's politics.
If you are a genuine tourist and not interested in voicing 'concerns' then you will be fine in NK.
You start opening your stupid gob, especially knowing it can bring you trouble, then you will get exactly that.
People should feel free to visit, but at the same time they can observe, have their opinions but discuss their feelings safely in private.
No sympathy here.

Is there even 9 million tonnes in the stockpiles after all the theft is revealed?
On a positive note though... If the stockpiles are a lot less than thought due to internal crime, then that would probably help the industry with regards to supply and demand and how it has affected the global rice prices.
I know it is not the best scenario meaning the country will have lost a shitload of cash to the corrupt, but if anyone actually thinks any of that 700 billion is ever coming back into the coffers even after all the corruption is exposed, then they are living in a totally different dimension to me.
The only way any of that money will come back (and it won't even be in this country by now) is if ALL the corrupt perpetrators are handed down mandatory life sentences with no possibility of a pardon, only to be commuted after the stolen money is returned... I am sure they will be more than happy to give it up after that.

5000 baht fine per account?
If the depositor has 50 million in that account why would 5000 baht fine bother the bank?
How about 5 million baht per account fine.
That will make them take notice.

Democracy, Thais must learn, is not just about going to vote. What happens after an election is decided and a government formed is equally essential.
Thais aren't the only ones that need to learn this, some of the posters on TV during the PDRC protests could stand to learn it as well.
That was not about lack of knowledge, that was purely based on typical red ignorance and bias. They had very little defence on any thread during that period, so the only way they could press their point home, was by ignoring the real facts and clinging to a single principle of democracy, which we all know...without all the other principles, that principle of election is not valid.
Also, that 'so called' principle of election was about as corrupted as you can get it... so even by itself it was invalid.

Instead of fixing short-term symptoms, it should focus its efforts on doing good things that are normally difficult to implement by populist politicians.
How about helping people install solar collectors for their homes. Surplus electricity produced could be sold back to the utility. A subsidy to help with the installations might be productive.
They already did this under the Dems... People went out and built solar farms, spent a hell of a lot of money on setting them up with panels and the industrial grade inverter etc... They were promised up to 5.8 baht per KWH seeing as the authority was paying more than that from Laos and Myanmar who had Thailand over a barrel. (up to 8 baht KWH).
It ran for about a year and then the Thaksin regime were voted in and it was scrapped leaving many in the crapper who had not yet recouped their investment for their farm. That really pissed a lot of people off.... I myself had done all the research for a 200 KW farm on my land luckily just before the scheme was pulled.
I ended up putting the land up for sale and sold it quite quickly, and coincidentally my wife was approached by a representative of the PEA asking if our land was still for sale, because they are now building their own solar farms. Our land was strategically positioned right on the grid.

"'Supermax' unit head Chanwit Karanan said inmates often shouted to ease their stress and some even banged their heads against the wall."
Sounds like they are just locked in their cells with no human contact for all but 1 hour a week. Won't that bring about psychological problems or more likely exacerbate existing conditions. I believe prison should be a punishment, however it should also attempt rehabilitation. This place appears to be failing to do the latter.
These are the ones who have had a chance in regular prison population and have displayed no signs of rehabilitation whatsoever, this is the next level.
I have no problem with it... in fact, I suggest they use this place for all corrupt police, politicians and civil servants. Give them their first 3 months of sentence here before moving them to a regular prison.
Also, It has been proven on many occasions you CAN NOT rehabilitate with a soft penal approach, most offenders will re-offend. The wife's cousin came out after 6 months and went straight back to his no good ways, and when asked if he was not frightened to go back to jail he just laughed and said "why? I have many friends there.... It is not really a bad place."

Nothing wrong with knowing who is in the country. The Cambodian and Myanmar workers...others...should all be documented.
And it would be nice if they made living here a little easier for farang like myself. Permanent resident statues would fill the bill, like Australia offers....and the right to own 1 rai in my own name to build a house on.
Exactly.
While everyone was jumping up and down bitching about abusing Cambodians. How is it they can come and live here and also no requirement for a work permit etc....
What about making it a bit easier for farang.. such as not needing to leave the country to get or update a visa, or make it easier to work here as westerners bring a lot more expertise to the table. I have been here long enough to see that most Thais are dreadful business people. Dropthe rule of having to employ a certain amount of Thais for a farang work permit and good Thai jobs will be created soon enough.
Also I agree..... It wouldn't do any harm to allow a farang who is resident for five years and over to be able to buy and own 1 rai of land.
Putting up draconian barriers for farangs while making everything easier for Cambodians,Laos and Burmese actually proves the authorities are indeed exploiting the latter.

Well you can get most of that spread all over BKK and Patts.
But if it is all to be contained in one exclusive place, it would be treated as a sort of English theme park, and before you know it, the place will be heaving with Thais, Chinese and Jap tourists snapping photos and selfies for their facebooks. Especially getting pics of the adult version of a chimp's tea party.
Then before you know it, there is another England Street opens up next door, then one down the road and one round the corner... Original ideas don't last long here if there is a couple of baht to be made.

Trembly, the OP says this has happened over two years, so I'd imagine there are long periods when there is no contact with the guy (remember, someone else did the postal round for a while), and I guess the OP and his missus were hoping it had ended.
But you're right - his missus should have handled it by now. OP, there is a hierarchy in your village, so why haven't you taken advantage of it to solve the problem? Village headman (buy him a couple of beers - ) talks to big posty man who kicks little derriere.
I don't live in a village, I live in a city.
But yes... I thought it was all over until the other day when the phone rang and the missus answered and it was him. That was when he asked if he could have beer at the restaurant and we pay, then we got the call from the waiter who told him this guy told him he could have 2 Leos and we would be paying for it.
When my wife said absolutely not and that he had called to ask and we said NO!! The waiter said he would have a word with him. Not too sure if that meant, sort this guy out for lying or what.
My wife hasn't done anything other than say no to him on every occasion, she is as timid as a church mouse especially with people older than her (which he clearly is).
To the member who called me a doormat.... why?... because I bought him a drink 'once'... ??
I have offered to sort him out as i would someone in my own country well before now, but it is the wife that stops me and tries to keep me out of it... She is frightened he will come round at night and do something if he is drunk, such as trash our car or something... the guy is a complete nutcase.

Truth be known is that this amount of weapons is chicken feed. If these weapons were seized in one seizure that would support the case that there is the existence of an armed group capable of destabilizing the country. However these weapons were mostly seized in dribs and drabs. Lots of countries around the world would have individuals in the population that posses these sorts of weapons illegally.
It is still a good result however. But I think there are a hell of a lot more larger caches out there yet to be seized. We all know of 2 big armoury busts in the past where hundreds of assault rifles were relived from the army and police force. Where are they at ??
Well considering most of the raids happened from a couple of tip offs, and then snowballed from there as those arrested squawked to save their own butts and named others in their network.
These weapons were all from the same network..... The red shirts
You are probably right about there probably a lot more (and a lot bigger) caches out there in the hands of the reds, and that is why... Now that the gun amnesty is over, the army should declare a 'shoot to kill' policy of those still with weapons caches.. They had their chance to dump them and they have failed to take that chance which means they are serious about using them to create havoc which to me... justifies beyond a shadow of a doubt, they need removing from this earth permanently.

Tell your wife not to inform strangers (or anyone at all) you are working illegally in Thailand without a work permit.
You might be deported.
Don't give your phone number to random people you meet.
Don't buy drinks for strangers.
Really, you bring this trouble all on yourself.
I doubt he even knows what time of day it is most of the time let alone be informed of immigration rules on farang. But I actually have a work permit for our company.
She didn't give him her number, he got it off a parcel that the sender put the number on, and I actually forgot to to mention that at one time he was sat in the restaurant and told us he had our parcel and to come round to collect it.
BTW... this is not over a few months, this is over 2 years, so not a common occurrence, but annoying all the same.

Yes, good. But it will take more than this. The people, Citizen Joe and his wife, need to have it drummed home to them that long term benefits will come from not accepting corruption.
Correct, but we all know it is not going to be taken seriously until they carry out the sentencing and seizures of assets of family members. Then you watch it all come to a grinding halt when they actually see this happening, and in some cases people who have taken, will seriously get frightened.

Exactly chooka this bloke is either telling the truth about conspiring with the general to seize power or is a bald face liar and should be arrested!
It's just shows you rules for one person and rules for another!
The bloke sitting in a park reading a book and eating a sandwich and gets arrested because they don't like the book yet this bloke thumbs his nose at the regime he brought about with immunity.
It stinks!
Not unlike the past 3 years of administration who of course never had double standards that stank?????
A regime where people could murder children with complete impunity???
I could nail up a list of double standards a mile long from the Thaksin regime... But of course, didn't you defend all these 'double standards' at the time?
What stinks more is your hypocrisy.
A harmless charity event dinner party to raise funds for families of those murdered by the Thaksin regime and its supporters, and you are so much against it. What a quality chap you are..... NOT!!!

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen also accused Thailand of abusing the rights of Cambodian workers in what he called the largest-ever repatriation effort, the Phnom Penh Post reported
More than a little hypocritical.
That's what I thought.
Hun Sen is hardly one to be criticizing the Junta for human rights abuses against Cambodians.

Prayuth is actually putting in place people that can do the job....
and where he will find them???
There are plenty of intelligent people in every field of ministerial and beurocratical areas of governance. The fact that Yingluck herself was put in the PM's chair with absolutely zero political experience or aptitude screams out volumes that she was going to ripple that effect right through the cabinet and beyond.
Each and every last one of them was an out and out Thaksin sycophant who all failed miserably to run their ministries effectively, and had little more desire to hold their position other than to enrich themselves in offshore bank accounts at a cost of about 1 trillion baht.
The sad thing is... Thaksin will put together a new party of the same for October next year and the red shirts will vote them in for more of the same.
Reforms must single out Thaksin as an enemy of the state, and any party seen to be aligned with him to be instantly dissolved. That goes for UDD, Shin Clan or any person associated with Thalsin in the past...His influence must be completely removed. They should also issue mass murder charges against him and have him hunted down and returned to Thailand or face the international criminal court.

No appointed MPs discussed: Thai EC
in Thailand News
Posted
Really, this is getting absurd.
Whatever makes them think MPs are even needed. It is only cabinet ministers who are needed... not members of parliament.
These idiots don't know the first thing about government structures and they are running the country.
God help Thailand.
