  1. I am the King of the Castle so why should I talk to the Serfs.

It seems to me that this particular King of the Castle is not as comfortable as he would wish to be if he is worried about lifting Marshal law. All those televised addresses for Happy Thailand may not be working too well after all?

And democracy will never come about without discussion with other people and parties.

  2. Oi !

I'm coming back and certainly do not intend to do any inane posts - Well.... not while I am sober anyway partytime2.gif.pagespeed.ce.V_K7hML3fS.p

Though having lived there for several years you might exempt me, Swissie, your honour tongue.png

  3. Two scenarios.

Usually in a restaurant it is no problem as the change is left on a small platter or inside a wallet.

Almost everywhere else they give or try to give change to the woman I am with unless she is standing some short distance away. Rarely do they offer it to me first.

As CharlieH says... ATMs only give, they do not receive rolleyes.gif

Besides, what is yours is hers and what is hers is hers too :)

  4. When in Thailand about 2K per week but I do the cooking. Chicken, sausages, bacon, eggs, bolognaise, potatoes, home made burgers, fish. Most food acquired at Macro. The veggies all come from the market every other day.

When out and about eating meal seems to average 300 Baht or so. Gammon steaks especially.

I do love sticky rice though especially with sweet chilli sauce with crispy fried chicken or pork.

Food courts too at 50 - 60 Baht when I am out at Tesco / BigC or similar.

Thai style BBQ all you can eat are great at times too. 80 - 100 Baht

  5. My wife and I hold hands and are touchy..I think it's called affection. We don't kiss in public but that's just a personal choice.

We aren't overt in the way we touch and I think is healthy for married couples to show affection and love

    The kissing bit.

I was always told - strictly no kissing in public - by all my Thai women. Not a problem at all for me.

A few have been reluctant with a hug at the airport too - departing or arriving.

Yet all would hold my hand and if I took my hand away it would be seen as some form or rebuke or a sign of me being in a bad mood.

But, yes it is a sign of affection. Like being in that comfort zone, warm and cozy :)

  6. I have to admit, I agree with break the lease & lose the deposit. The landlord (or agents) must now find a new tenant and as already said that deposit is a buffer against breaking the lease as well as possible damage and utility bills.

The rules in Thailand are different to those in France itself.

It seems pointless chasing the deposit too.

Seems to me to be a case of live and learn.

  7. There has been nothing on the Uk news today about these arrests, but then again another Uk hostage has just been beheaded by Islamic state so that was wall to wall covarage.

Daily Mail, Daily Mirror amongst others including the BBC have covered this today. The Mail went overboard with pictures. So where you get that from I do not know.

  8. David, thank you for bringing this subject up.

My problem is that in the past I used to speak to myself a lot, about everything and anything

Nowadays, I don't even dare to say a word to myself, being afraid that I will be accused of being a troll.

Everything I say, everything I write, somebody will come up and tell me I'm trolling.

I've missed my conversations with myself in the past.

Do you think there is any chance to be my old self?

    PS. Am I trolling now?blink.png

Because you are not from Holland and speaking double dutch it may well be all Greek to some wink.png

Better edit this to say I have nothing whatsoever against the Dutch facepalm.gif
