Last week a friend of mine driving a motorcycle was twice fined in Pattaya.
Firs time was correct because he drove into a soi which was one way.
The second time he was fined at night at a red light in South Pattaya second road where app. 40 motorcycles where waiting for the red light.
There where only 2 farangs at that time, the rest where Thais with several not wearing helmets, no lights and more then 2 people on a motorcycle.
From both farangs the keys where taken and both had to go to the police office to pay the fine.
He asked the police officer right away why he was fined and showed his valid int. driver license incl. motor stamp, tax was paid and the motorcycle was 100 % ok.
The police officer didn't respond to his question and at the police office there was only an older officer on duty with no English skills.
This friend is a regular visitor (once a year) and is now <deleted> off and won't visit again due to discrimination of farangs by the Thai police
Another good job from the Pattaya Police.

I'm addition to whatever useless laws the Thais put on paper, culture mandates that the following Thais are tacitly understood to be exempt:
1. Thais with money
2. Thais driving Mercs or higher
3. Thais leveraging familial connections
4. Sad, wai-ing Thais with little money
5. Thais in government
6. Thai village chiefs
You forgot one point
7. All Thais who don't qualify for the first 6.

Oh dear! Everything seems to be unravelling for the government, exports down, tourism down, budget deficit up.......
All at a time when the PM is strutting the world stage in New York with his chest puffed out and needing something to brag about. All he has heard from home over the last few days is bad news.
That will make him very grumpy and not a nice person to be around.
He doesn't give a <deleted> because he knows nothing about economics, the military are only in for the benefit of there own.

It's the baht , its always always about the money. The rest is just noise
Yours points are affecting mostly expats. A grudge , political climate, justice for the rich? Seriusly what are you talking about, your averge 7 day tourists could care less
That's why I mentioned "repeat visitors"

Guess the strong baht and the trade war are of influence, but there are more factors esp. for repeat visitors.
- Dangers on the roads
- Scams every place you visit (even Thai people get scammed everywhere)
- Pollution of streets and beaches, etc......
- Over inflated prices and taxation products foreigners use
- Higher prices for foreigners for instance national parks
- Grudge against foreigners
- Political climate
- Justice only for the rich
I can list a lot more and I know that other countries will also have problems, but Thailand has reached the top now.
I feel sorry for all the expats because for them it's even worse because of the TM hassle.
I used to work in Bangkok for ten years and was a regular visitor in the last couple of years, now it's time to go visit other places until Thailand will make some drastic changes. But that won't happen.

I already looked at apartments on several sites and also airbnb but mostly the reviews are not reflecting the real situation, was hoping for TV members who stay in an apartment near a BTS location who can share their experience.
btw budget it's no a problem but I think 10.000 baht for a decent apartment near a BTS station should do it.
Anyway thanks for the members with their positive input.

Our daughter has an internship for 3 months at The Belgium Embassy (16/F Sathorn Square) as of March 2020.
Now we're looking for a nice apartment near a BTS station.
Price range around 10.000 baht a month.
Thanks for any info.

As Nixon said "I'm not a crook" but we all know better 555

" Inside the car was 35 year old driver Isara Phrajan "
Well "Isara" (อิสระ-free) seems that you'll have to change your name to "Tid Chook" (ติดคุก-jail)

If he had no money and assets there would be no prosecution in Thailand, however he made his fortune legal in the Netherlands and moved a lot to Thailand. The Dutch incompetent justice department gave the Thai corrupt officials a good reason to get all his money and assets, that's all.
Not the first rich farang in Thailand who will loose a lot of his fortune to corrupt Thai officials. Just put them in jail and wait.

Don't understand
According to TAT the decline in tourist arrivals are minimum, so why waive the visa fee.
Makes no sense, guess tourist arrivals dropped massively.

>If the two officers have held that rank for the same duration, the officer who spent longer time in the lower ranks, down to the level of a deputy inspector, prior to the present rank will be considered more senior than the other.
Correction
If the two officers have held that rank for the same duration, the officer who pays the most is the senior officer.

>Anan Angkhanawisan told a high level meeting at City Hall that bad people such as terrorists are getting ever more devious and Pattaya must stay ahead of them to ensure the safety of tourists in the resort. <
"bad people such as terrorists and local coppers"

Im an expats and im ashame of reading stupid comments unfounded and unproved. There are people uncivilized, and losing control everywhere, even in your country, does that mean the whole population of your country have a low intelligence? I wish no Thai people read those stupid comments. No wonder farangs are not accepted here, thats because of your stupidity and arrogance toward the country and people who welcome you despite everything you can think
Did you attend the English lessons in this school ?

It's irresponsible to let a Thai drive in another country, it should be forbidden for all Thais.
Most signs on major roads are in Japanese and English so a Thai is clueless.
All countries shouldn't accept Thai international driver licenses.

> Mr. Panya explained that, in the 20 years following the creation of the Constitutional Court, no one was held in contempt because there had been no criticism of the court’s rulings.
So then it's obvious people are afraid to criticize the court's ruling.
Where did he get is Dr. title, I believe at seven-eleven.

I'm glad they don't check Thai people, was afraid they change their culture, glad it stays the same.
