i am sort of in the same . wife needs to go out for her non o to the malaysian border. i am on a 90 day retirement with a mulity entry . she is on her 30 day extention from a 60 day stay. she has bank account with 50 k bht in it as well as myself. so will we have problems getting back in ?doing a run with a company kvb visa run company spending the night in phang what do you think ?

yes thats true, but my plans is thur my teamsters pension trust and union and its one of the old style plans like no co pay like some and there is no limit on out side us use.. it did surprise me on how blanket the coverage was. every time a go to a clinicback in usa and they wanted to see if i had a co pay i told them i dont and they would check and say ok wow dont see that much anymore. any way i dont know what that would cost out side but i bet a lot

well i have blue cross and blue shield from the states. and it covers me where ever i am in the world thur world blue. used them when i was in russia and needed hand surgery. the russian health system wont cover forangs , and its wroth a 1million usd. and will pay for drugs as well. cost me about 220.0 usd a month

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe I'll explore Cambodia a bit and apply for a new 2-entry Tourist Visa when I get to Phnom Penh, although I see you suggest Vientiane (which I have used both times) and Savannaket, presumably because they are closer(?).

You will only get a single entry visa in PP and it will take up to 4 days to get unless you use an agent.

well joe i tried the retirement visa yesterday in phuket, had all the docs i needed so i was told, bt lawyers and im . was turning mt tr 60 day to a non o for i am 61. been retired for 2 yrs .in usa. waited hours go up there and i wanted to do the whole thing no o to retirement and add a multi entry my income is well over what was needed . was asked for a house book ,lol i have been staying in hotel for 2 months . they had no record of me there?? so i was given a form for them to fill out . was never told i needed that, my wife who is under 50 needs to go out and and get an o and i need to go with her with marriage doc to add her as depended .

For an extension of stay, it is not a requirement for the applicant to submit the form TM.30. That form is for the house master to submit, if a particular immigration office enforces this requirement, and is completely separate from the extension application. There are other, recent topic discussing this, so please let us not derail this topic.

well i just went to phuket im today to transfer my 60 day to a n o i visa for retirement had all that i was told to bring pensions from 2 different companys embassy stamp bank account showing the deposits, well over the monthly amount of needed for the month and for a year had copy of my thai bank card and book ect.

everything i was told by a lawyer and im agent. but i was told i need a house book ? i live in a hotel for the last 2 months they never register my stay so i have no idea how to get that ? gave me a form to cover visa which they never gave me before it was a wast of a whole day just to convert a tr to an no o for retirement im here is a joke if they just made it simple but i guess the hate farangs. so i have to have hotel manager fill it out and i have to go back and wait 6 hrs its all bs i just want to retire here with my wife ( who is not thai)

a lot of people seem to focus on money ,money is not my problem other that i do not have any,i have little regard for money and i no wish to have ,also i would like to make clear that i was not cheated out of my money by mw wife she is a very good lady she never did me any wrong i walked out of that marriage for another lady not anything i am proud of i have however made another relationship with another fine thai lady and she looks fter me we have 3 children she can look after me feed me but i have no income whatsoever she does not want me to walk out of this relationship i do not want to go but my visa will run out i am housebound cannot walk and unable to work other than drive that i can do this family seem to rely on me not for money but we get along well and have respect dignity though in poverty i have had lots of support from thai people even people in authority i respect them and they respect me .however i am in process of facing uop to a fast approaching situation of do i go into overstay and stay with my family of am i to affraid of a thai gail and take the easy option and get out it amazes me how self rightous so many people aare in asuming they see the whole picture and their opinion are right and that they shoulded be listened to .this is why i love thailand thai people and their culture i do not have any attraction to any welfare sate give me a charitable communith anyday western culture is not attractive to me

well marry her, and if you have kids with her they are us citizens you can apply for that , so your story gets deeper all the time . so whats the real truth?

thank you for all those who try their best to reply helpfully ,to those who think i fake or not real perhaps you never had a million to spend it is quite easy buy a few cars some property some land build a nice large house make friends with less fortunate people and it soon goes belive me i would not consider myself an extravegent man by any meens i have always been quite savy but if you have never had it to spend you not really know ,to those who are critical of my grammer you are probably right i never had much school and never had money till i was over 40 was unemployable really but i did make a million honestly paid all my taxes it took about 7 years and it took about the same to loss all.i came here onin my 40s and could not go on rtirement visa till i was 50 i hope that explains to someone their caculations where out somewhat ,i am glad i not suffer from thinking i know everything ,i have been poor most of my life and i am glad i made some money and i am quite happy i lost it all,it was quite an education better than having to spend my life wishing for something.i have experiences everything in life i ever wanted to and alot more i feel very good about myself,i only posted here against my better judgement in case i had missed something when reviewing my present situation,and i would like to thank all those decent people who try their best to be helpful and i will pray for all others thank you for your time

so if i read this right you bought cars , property ect , and land? where is all that? now did you sell , i know here you cant own land unless you have your own a company.. and you can only own 49% a thai must own 51% unless you bought for gf all? and its in her name or familys . and if you where 40 when you got here,and now on retirement at 50, how old are you now?you said you been on retirement for 10 yrs??. in your first post? 1 mill usd is not alot in todays standards. in usa . most houses cost 500 k or better now you could marry your thai gf may make it easier to stay here.only cost you 1,900 bh i think to stay as dependant.that way her family can apply for credits and help you pay for stay

You tried to apply Western logic to Thailand, you lost.

 

If you want your extension approved,  leave the money alone in a regular deposit account without not even the slightest movement for three months before applying. No big deal really.

 

If you want to try again, go there again, with a Thai "fixer".

where can i get a thai fixer?

well i was told by a phuket im that because i make so much on my 2 pensions and my bank account shows the transfers from out of country i didnt have to have the account for 2 months , 

i also have the same coming up it sept 1st. can i get an Extension for 30 days ? i came in on a 30 day , visa run for a 2 month and it ends on sept 1st can i go get an Extension for 30 days ?

i am retiring here with my wife. she is under 50 and needs to go out of country for an o visa and then a dependent visa, can we make a visa run for her over land or are they all closed after the 12th? or a ed visa then convert later ?

will all visa runs not be allowed when you are apply for a non o or ed visa

good i understand i had to learn russian, and speaking is much easyer than writing, and at my age i agree. wife is russian  and speakes english and thai.russian is a stage 3  language  and i learn thai faster than i did russian. to all who have to learn any  language my nhats off 

 

Are you serious?  You have been studying Thai for 2 years and still cannot understand when someone speaks to you in Thai?  And you cannot write anything using the Thai alphabet?

 

Either your teacher sucks, or your learning skills suck, or both

I'm the wrong side of 35 and learning a language at this age is not easy. I can hold a basic conversation in Thai, but only if the person I am speaking to speaks slowly and clearly. I can speak to someone else in Thai and they can understand me fine, but it's much harder for me to understand them. Most people don't realise how much of a difference it makes.

 

The woman at immigration was quite busy and didn't have time to quiz me like that, which is why she got me to write it down.

 

And yes, learning a new alphabet is actually a pretty advanced topic and something you wouldn't necessarily attempt before learning basic conversation, since conversation is a more important skill.

 

But hey feel free to continue your crusade against people on Ed Visas.

 

well this makes it harder for people like me who just want to live here and retire with my wife. get the right visas and live ,i dont need to work so. all the people who work here with out the right visa we have to thank. and in any other country you be in jail or deported.so i understand why they are doing it. i met a guy who is russian on a visa run (first one for me this year) and he been here working as a tour guide for russian speakers with out a permit,as well as his brother for 3 years.so this is why. they pay no taxes here and work  that seem fair to all who do it right ???

well i hope this is on topic i am 61 and want to retire here. i am from usa and my wife is russian and under 50. we are here on a 2 month visa from a visa run. i have 2 incomes from retirement one a private and one from us gov.i make about 56k usd a year from them. i have read and here a lot from all the postd some say i can do in country others say no. would like the real truth .i have income note from us embassy 2 copys . no bank account yet. but we both can get from bankok bank. so what can i do and how ?
