  2. I lived in Hua Hin for 2.5 years, and found it quite pleasant.

Only significant negatives were (a) the lack of variety in foreign-type shopping: one Tesco Lotus, no Big C, no Central Dept store, one Home Pro, one Villa grocery store, horrendous traffic on Petchkasem Road, especially on weekends, and [c] Hua Hin Immigrations is one of the handful of offices that requires the money used for a combination (income + savings) method for qualifying for a retirement extension be seasoned for 90 days.

Some positives: (a) no rip-off baht bus mafia (like Pattaya/Phuket) with B10 fares the standard, comfortable bus service from BKK airport with reasonable price, [c] quick (express) train service to/from BKK,

As stated above, seemed clean and safe with easily accessible western hospitals.

There is a big c and a Makro also two great bakeries, and two German sausage makers each having his own shop, try Soi 41 for really great pies , fruit and meat, Soi 29 German sausages and baguette bakery for divine cakes, all on the main drag just north of down town

    that sounds great

Do you mean that you both have to prove money in bank and a letter verifying your income from your embassy to be granted a retirement visa?

well i have 2 incomes from my retirement from the states one gov one pvt all i need is a letter from us embassy showing this icome. with attached award letters. according to the law . you can have that , i make way more than is asked for and my wife is attached to my retirement as dependant/ she dose not need to show an income

  4. I really enjoyed CM the year I lived there; however

I missed the ocean. I visited Hua Hin, spent a month

There and finally opted for Jomtien Beach. Great

Medical, lots of English spoken, movies mostly in

English, and you are close to BKK.1 1/2 hours. I

Love the ocean, Jomtien Beach and Hua Hin beaches

I found dirty. I go to Koh Larn once a week, beach is

Clean and the water as clean as Maui. I have been

Here 5 years and hope to stay at least another 5.

    Have you considered Jomtien?

no, pattaya i thought was to many tourist . not into the pub scene anymore. quiet place more laid back is what we seek i lived in cm and in the states las vegas ,so party is not what i looking for, been to maui so i do like that the water being that clean .

  5. Good: Not crazy like Pattaya.

Bad: The sun sets behind you when your sat on the beach.

I lived in CM 6 years ago. San Sai but it was too quiet for me.

I too am thinking about moving to Hua Hin so will be interested in this post.

Am I right in thinking you get a better house for your money in Hua Hin than you do in Pattaya?

we also looked there in pattaya at houses , about the same price wise. depends on how far you want to be away from city .to me hua hin is better quiet and less tourists. but it really depends on what you want. we are looking for a place with pool or in a community with pool and close to beach if possible.
  6. I moved here from Chiand Mai two months ago and am very glad I did. Much more exciting for a single man. If I was married I would like it here also. Air quality is much better here. Housing very expensive but Thai baht is helping me with that.

I would go to BKK to buy a car and they will do all the paperwork for you.

As far as moving cost me 20,000 for all my stuff and two choppers and a motorbike. then I drove my car.

If you have around 30,000Thai baht a month, the heights past Big C on the left has three houses for rent that I know of.

Welcome if you decide to move here.

well good to here how did you move the bikes, all we have are personal stuff. no bikes or car. was hoping to buy one there , but bbk is ok if thats the only place ,i pay 20 k now for a bigger than average 130 sqm in city so housing at around 20 to 30 k per be fine

  7. well it sounds good so far i am from usa and have a stated income from us embassy i used that for last years retirement and my wife is my dependent. so that wont be a problem. i did think hua hin had a big c according to the google map i looked at . but no problem if you dont. we are pretty laid back so the quiet living is ok with us. all i need is a driver permit for there. and are there any good car dealers there like ford ect looking to buy a new one .rather not drive there from here. so any help in that area be great as well.

  8. thank you for that information. quiet is ok with us, we are looking to rent a house there. and i was looking to see what life is like there. for expats. we dont drive here in chiang mai as there is to much traffic. we live in the city ,looking for a laid back nice place to live. quiet and with good services.quality of life there ,

  9. Greeting's all

My wife and i are looking into moving to Hue Hin next spring. we now live in Chiang Mai have been here a year. what i am looking for is the good things and not so good things about this city. immigration, process there easy or hard to do. how easy is it to buy a car there , hospitals ect , like anyone looking to find out how life works there . we have looked at houses there. and i have a map. so any information would be great , thanks

  10. the answer has been posted repeatedly recently, try a search

if so what do they do at the old office

i didnt find all i saw was posts about the new one

you asked where to do a retirement extension and have your answer

Everything not done at the new office is done at the old one, it is very complicated, don't try to figure it out, it will change again soon anyway.

well i did mine last year at the old one. so whats going to change ?

  11. ok so i see that the online appointment is down for good ,i think. i am sure this will be moved some where. ok i am due for my extension in Nov so which office do i go to @ 4 am to get in line .lol I just got back from my 90 day report. at the new office . i went to the old one first and they sent me to the new one. i dont want to wait 3 hrs to be told i am at the wrong office .when i try to get my number. anyone know for sure ? i live closer to the old one.

  12. our one yr ends on 18 nov 2015 . our 90 day for both of us, was aug 3rd before she went to see her mom in st petersberg . my question now is her extention in her passport still says aug 3rd like mine. do we need to get that updated to her new date? she is under 50 so she is attached to my retirement . as dependant.

The report of staying longer than 90 days in the country is not an extension. The slip that says she is due a report on August 3rd can be taken out of her passport since it is no longer valid because she left the country before that date.

She does not need nor is it possible to get a new slip to show her new reporting date.

ok so oct 20 she goes for her 90 day report then on the 18th of nov we go to renew our 1 yr extension together right?

  13. our one yr ends on 18 nov 2015 . our 90 day for both of us, was aug 3rd before she went to see her mom in st petersberg . my question now is her extention in her passport still says aug 3rd like mine. do we need to get that updated to her new date? she is under 50 so she is attached to my retirement . as dependant.

  14. no they stamped her departure card with her enter date july 23rd , same in under her multi entry and wrote 18 nov 2015 that is our 1 year and we need to do extention again oh yes we both have an extention of stay with multi entry permit

Okay, so what's the problem? She's stamped in on 23 July....her next 90 report is due 20 October by my calculations. Your extension is due in November.

ok i am just looking for information is all . i am not a immigration guru . just wanted to know about my wife . so now she is attached to me as i am retired and our year is up in nov .so if what you say is true she goes in 20 oct and then in november for our year ?

  15. 2 questions really , 1 my wife has been out of country for the last 2 months and is back now . we are due to do our 90 day report this week . she has a multi entry so getting back in was not an issue . did just fine .but they stamped her depatrure card with her entry day . ? will she have to report now with me for her 90 day . and also when i had my deparure card stamped when i had my retirement in place and mulit entry.and was coming thur saido he stamped it with the date of my 1 yr extension date not the day i entry in country

. so did the airport , stamp her with the right date ?

  16. bags where checked thur to chaing mai . but she was met when she got off the plane by airport staff and taken to passport control. in bkk . took ten min and was taken by staff to her gate for flight to chiang mai , then met in chiang mai taken to pick up luggage on international side of airport . picked her up there

  17. I used BangkokAirways many times as connection flight and it was allways Outgoing same as Incoming. No matter to/from which country i came.

And i do it everytime the same way. Landing in bkk and clear immigration(immigration for domestic connection flights) and clear and get my baggage in hkt.

KISS is also mostly the fastest way.

If that's the case....then easy way to smuggle stuff in. NO customs check.

No, I'm afraid you don't yet have a clear understanding.

Your wife can clear both Immigration & Customs on-arrival in Bangkok, then check-in in Departures with Bangkok-Airways, as a normal domestic-passenger.

Or, if her first airline and Bangkok-Air have an agreement, she can book her luggage from original check-in all-the-way-through to Chiang Mai. She would then follow the transfer to Phuket/Samui/ChiangMai/HatYai/etcetera signs on-arrival, check-in at the Bangkok-Air (or THAI) transfer-desk, clear Immigration in the small/less-busy transfer-area & take her carry-on luggage through security-check & proceed for the onward-flight to Chiang Mai.

In Chiang Mai she will be directed to collect her hold-luggage from the International-Arrivals area, and will only-then clear Customs with it. So you'll meet her outside Chiang Mai International-Arrivals, not Domestic-Arrivals.

The advantages of the second alternative, when it is available, are that you don't have to clear Thai Immigration at the sometimes-busy main Bangkok-Immigration, and you don't have to collect your luggage or clear Customs until the very end of your trip.

well bankok air and Aeroflot do have an agreement for that so i will pass this on to her
