  1. How do the OFX/WISE transfer fees compare?
  2. Well, bonds ain't bonds. Investment grade credit rating and bond issuers do have considerable weight. 'Good night Vienna' if the Thai Government bond market collapses. I personally rank quality bonds above cash-in-the bank.
  3. That is good info, thanks!
  4. Where is 'locally'? - Pattaya or Buriram?
  5. Any news on appointments for retirement extension at Jomtien or is jumping the queue still acceptable?
  6. Apparently not all photo stores are suited for taking passport photos meeting the specific requirements as set out in the photo guidelines issued by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The Australian Embassy in Bangkok do recommend only store Master Photo Sathorn who are located near the Embassy and are familiar with Australian passport photo requirements. Are there any similar professional passport photo providers or suitable photo stores located in either Pattaya and/or Buriram?
  7. I need to renew my Australian passport. Will the Australian Embassy in Bangkok issue the said letter automatically or will I have to apply for it separately?
  8. Anybody renewed their passport in Thailand lately? Payment of fees seem very restrictive. According to the OZ website "Fees are payable in Thai Baht by Visa/ Mastercard Credit or Debit card only (no cash payments accepted)." I do not have and never had a VISA / MASTERCARD. Are there any other options available for paying the fee without resorting obtaining a Thai DEBIT CARD?
  9. Interesting. I was not aware that the location would make any difference. My last 2 applications from my home at Buri Ram went through swimmingly; Maybe it won't when switching Immigration offices...oh well.
  10. I shall be guided accordingly relating to the possible requirement of a bank statement. At my age, I can't afford any quarrels with the Immigration officers and better comply until they don't ask anymore for the 3 months bank account balance check. The switch to the Buri Ram Immigration offices will solve this. Thanks.
  11. As far as I am concerned and based on my experience the on-lin 90 day reporting system <https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login> is working like charm. I usually apply at 8.46am and by around 10.00am have an e-mail stating: "Your application for "STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS" has been approved." Heck, the ROYAL THAI POLICE IMMIGRATION BUREAU even send out a reminder about two weeks prior application is due.
  12. In my original post I requested if the Buri Ram Immigration Office require extra documents apart from the official documents. So, according to your experience a Bank Statement maybe/is required - I won't have a problem with that extra demand as I prefer going to the office prepared, thank you for the info. And I realise that it is Up 2 Me. I am almost sorry for posting and requesting information.
  13. Again, please accept my apologies for having you to reiterate the obvious.
  14. Sorry, I misread and wrongly assumed that item 5) is a part of the required documents to be submitted by the wife/partner
  15. Your posts are very encouraging - thanks! I am in a similar situation as am going to live in my partner's house also. But I am surprised the need of her producing a bank book too. Are you sure this requirement is a part of the retirement extension? I would have thought it is more applicable for an extension based on marriage. After submitting the required and correct documents at Jomtien, the passport with the extension is not available on the same day, moreover there is an extra requirement for returning to the office after three months producing bank details ensuring funds of at least THB800k are available. These extra demands seem not to be enforced by the Immigration offices at Buri Ram. May I ask why you don't use the on-line system for completing the 90 day reporting requirement? Withe reference to: "a. Transfer money to account on day of Extension" Could you please elaborate. For the past 10 years I leave a balance of about THB900K permanently in my bank account and either deposit or withdraw THB100.- to comply with the required update of my account on the day of submitting all documents to the Immigration officer. So, at Jomtien I don't need to transfer any funds to qualify for an extension. I guess/hope this would satisfy the Buri Ram Immigration officers also And at Jomtien I never have been required for producing a Bank Statement as the Bank Letter from the respective bank seems to suffice.
  16. After a couple of decades I am going to change my living arrangements and make Buri Ram my primary residence calling in to my condo at Na Jomtien once a year or so for my annual medical check-up at the BPH and for renewal of my extension based on retirement at the Chonburi Immigration offices. My experiences with the Immigration office at Chonburi in both old and new locations has been always been remarkably great but because of overcrowding (long lines at the check-in counter) I am considering changing to the Immigration offices at Buri Ram i-Mobile Stadium. I am seeking input from retirees or from those who are familiar with the said immigration office/personnel on the requirement of supporting documents for obtaining an annual extension based on retirement and if my purposed undertaking is either a foolish or wise decision with reference to switching immigration offices.
  17. Another promising EV vehicle coming soon to Thailand... “Thailand is going to be a hub for manufacturing zero emission vehicles. As these changes come around the world, we’re going to be part of that. You’re going to see that coming from Ford,” https://www.news.com.au/technology/motoring/hitech/ford-ranger-ev-looking-more-likely-for-australia/news-story/46d5b9f170cf08ae183965b3931b9322
  18. Many thanks for the contact details. I didn't realize my PM was deactivated, it's now fixed.
  19. Very much so. However I am not subscribed to any social networking services and have no intention to do so. I entered surin+buachet solarcell to internet search engine but no suitable result referring to contact details of this company .
  20. Well, I too object to this over-generalized statement. There are many who are either trained in a different field or find it challenging funding a solar generated power system or locating a competent contractor. I reside in Buriram and have the means and ample (sunny) space for financing a high capacity solar system but don't have the know-how. I would love to have a solar system charging my future electric vehicle and air condition units. Lucky to them who are blessed with this knowledge. Some of course have engaged a competent contractor procuring and installing a solar system alas they don't divulge contact details. There is no need boasting about the advantages of a solar system or how much one could sell to PEA over-produced power, most of us know - it just bloody frustrating for not able to jump into the boat!
