  1. To say this then you believe the covid19 pandemic will never end! That's just crazy. The pandemic is already showing signs of ending and soon enough walking street and all the trash will be back to normal.

  2. I am in USA right now and we gave banned all flights from several countries including Europe. All people were contacted and told they must return by a certain date or be stuck here at their own expense. People were contacted by their airlines. It was widely promoted. I drive Uber and serve all the theme parks and convention centers ( #1 in the world for conventions). My business went from $200 a day for 6 to 8 hours of driving to $50 a week driving 12 hours a day! I have been sitting at home for 2 weeks now as all of the USA are on curfew. The only way to stop Covid19 from spreading is to quarantine people and ban people from entering your country from other infected places. The ban in Thailand is not long enough and should have started weeks ago. The desire not to loose the tourist dollars will wind up killing hundreds or thousands of people. I see people saying Thailand officials are MORONS for banning flights. Truth is they are the morons.

  3. I am in Thailand now on a retirement visa. I just realized my retirement extension expired on the 3rd ( I thought it was the end of this month). I realize I pay 500 baht a day for overstay. I am moving back to America in April or May of next year. I never had to prove my bank funds before as I am an American and don't have to but this year I actually don't have the funds in case I get that one in a million who say they don't care and ask for proof. I was thinking of going to Penang and getting a regular tourist visa and extending it. How can I make it last the 6 months I need. Leaving the country every 3 months is not a problem as I will have a few million baht in January ( yearly retirement check ).

  4. Your from the U.S. So you don't need the money in the bank. Just go to the U.S. Embassy in Bkk and get your income affidavit (they supply it or download online) notorized. Cost is $55 usd. Put down whatever income you want to, they don't check. The notorizion just verifies your signature. We are the only country that has a treaty with Thailand that does not require that we show proof of funds in the bank. I have lived in Thailand 3 years now and never had the required funds in the bank and have gotten the extension for retirement every year. I do understand that it is possible that on a rare occasion that some out of the way offices do ask for your bankstatement but that only happened to me once. All I did was say I was an American and did not have to show proof of funds in the bank and the man apologized and stamped my passport and that was it.

  5. Wow. I'm glad I'm an American and don't have to prove my income ( but must go to the American embassy in Bkk to get a verification of income notorized) or show my bank account. Thank goodness we have the Treaty of Amnity with Thailand as last year I only had $300,000 baht in the bank when I renewed my retirement visa and this year my annual retirement check is comming after I have to renew the visa again. I have heard some immigration places still ask for the proof but I was only asked once and I reminded him that I was an American and was not required to show proof and he grudgingly stamped my passport and that was that. BTW, the notorized income form from the embassy I just put down whatever I want as they don't check. As the person there told me " we just notorized your signature, not what you really earn, so we don't care what amount you put down". Pretty sweet for us Americans.

  6. I live in Jomtien and went to Bkk a few months ago to renew my retirement visa. I lived in Bkk and moved to Jomtien. They said i can only renew it at Jomtien immigration since that is now where I live. I did my 90 day reporting at Jomtien, so the address of course reflected that. So I now have to drive from Jomtien to Bkk to get my income statement notorized at the US Embassy then drive back to Pattaya immigrration for the visa. Big pain. Terrible system .

  7. I have talked about this before and always been removed with the forum stating that I was promoting a crime!!!

Personal experience. I have gotten 2 retirement visas so far. Both times at Changwattana. I live in Pattaya now and was supposed to go to immigration here to get the visa. They said I had to since that is now my new address. I begged saying I drove all the way up to the embassy then here then waited 4 hours and then have to drive another 3 hours to get home..... They were kind and agreed and used my old address in Bkk. Both times they never asked me for anything other than my income statement from the embassy. I hear at Pattaya immigration they have on a rare occasion asked. That's why I wanted to do it in Bkk. So again, 2 years with retirement visa, and never asked as an American to show any bank statements, just the income verification form from the US Embassy.

Where did you wait for 4 hours. Certainly not at the embassy. I think the longest I have ever spend is half an hour.

At the wrong time of day it might take 2 hours or more to get to Chaeng Wattana from the embassy. Seems to me it would be best to do it at the correct office in Jomtien rather than taking the chance of being refused.

Like I said. It is better to do in Chaingwattana, NOT Jomtien. You must drive up to the embassy to get the income statement notorized so better choice is CW. 10 min. Maybe to get income statement. 4 hours ( can be less or more, depending on the day). About 6 to 7 hours driving from Jomtien and back. Yes, I left at 5:30am as I had an 8 am appt at embassy. Hope that clears it up. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE, GO TO CW.

  9. Download "Kodi" then "TVADDONS". Free tv and movies. No adds or commercials. I have for American tv. HBO,Showtime,etc...all channels. NBC, ABC,LIFETIME,FX,FOX......ALL OF THEM. You can download for foreign tv also. Italian, GB.,etc. Never pay for cable again.

  10. Just thought I would give the complainers and doomsayers something to turn into a negative as they always do.

For the 2nd time I have gotten my retirement visa with almost no paperwork or proof.I am an American and we have the treaty with Thailand that only requires a notarized letter of income. I now live in Pattaya but hear that the immigration here sometimes goes against the treaty and demands a show of proof of the $800,000 baht, which I won't have for another 3 months. CW goes by the rules and does not. So I drove up to the American embassy and got my income statement notarized. ALL A NOTORY DOES iS VERIFY YOUR SIGNATURE. This means you can fill in any amount you want for your annual income. ANY AMOUNT. Then fill out your TM 7, get all your copies and pic and stuff and wam bam thank you mam your done.

I did have a small problem as I moved from Bkk to Pattaya and they said I must do this now in Pattaya immigration. I said how hard it was to drive up so early and go to The American Embassy then up there, wait 5 hours to be called and then told no. I asked if I could give my BF Bkk address and they agreed. Except for the wait it only took about 5-10 min.

    Easy peasy .

  11. Legal age of consent in Thailand is 15. Obviously the Thai beleive 15 is old enough to have sex. Foreigners obey a different law that makes it a crime under 18. If it bothers you so much that an older man is with a younger woman of legal age then you have moved to the wrong country. 18 is legal everywhere in the world and very popular here. I really don't understand people like you.

  12. I agree with others. I moved out of a very beautiful inexpensive condo because in the 1 year I lived there they put up 2 giant tv screens for all the bumper to bumper traffic traffic on paholyothin. The bright lights were to much for me to take. And I was on the 10th floor. Driving was even more of a distraction with the big flashes of light. But a funny foam key they say distracts drivers? I would like them to prove that not just flap their gums. Show the study that says it's distracting to the point of causing accidents but the giant tv'screens flashing are not. I doubt their is any study. Just someons misguided opinion. If it is such a distraction then outlaw the sale of them.

  13. And thailand wants the be the hub for Asian education. What a joke. I tought in the schools for awhile until I got fed up with their system of education. They seat students in groups of 3 to 4 and encourage them to cheat or copy off the smart person near them. I tried to make them separate into rows like a normal school and was told that they need to see what the others are doing so they can pass the class. I was never allowed to fail a student. If they failed a test a thai assistant would take them in the hallway to retest. Then give them the answers. I refused to give them more than a C if this was done. They would go from 10 question out if 60 correct to 50 or 60 correct after this retest. Not fair to the others who actually studied for the test. I got a lot of flack for this, but stuck to my guns.

Now they want to deny an education to students who are trying to better themselves because they don't like the way they look. I seriously doubt that Thailand will ever be known for the way it educates it's people. All they know how to do things is to copy another person's work. They never learn to think on their own.

  14. I live in a house and have 3BB. They are garbage. I started with their 10 MB pkg and was getting 1 to 2 Mb. Could not do very much. So I opted to upgrade to the 15 Mb pkg and now get 4 to 5 Mb. On a rare occasion I get close to 10. The upload speed is usually 1/2 to just over 1. I watch American TV and download movies and it does not work very well with such slow speeds. I live at the beach at the north end of Jomtien if that matters. I wish I had better choices with other providers but I think from what I read the others are much worse.

  15. I have never known them to ask for anything and addition to the income affidavit from the US embassy. I know of several Americans who did not have the funds in the bank and just brought their income affidavit notarized from the embassy and went to Chang Wattana and in no time at all were approved. I would not worry. It is the way it is with the treaty of Amnity. I do not believe the other guy at all, I fear he is one of the many here who go out of their way to make things negative.
